To fully understand the artist’s inspiration we should rewind and discuss some very important background information from the Lorcana story. The newest expansion, Shimmering Skies takes place immediately after the defeat of Ursula in Ursula’s Return, making this a celebratory set.
Glimmers are jubilant and celebrating together, even the ink magic has come alive in the sky. The very realm of Lorcana itself is celebrating this monumental triumph. Despite Ursula’s defeat, another danger lurks in the shadows. This strenuous moment provided inspiration to the team of artists at Ravensburger who designed this groundbreaking set of new cards.
Anna Stosik, Disney Lorcana TCG Senior Art Director, shared insights into the creative process behind these stunning Enchanted Cards. “The art team wanted the card art to capture the realm’s celebration while also reflecting the magical nature of the victory, so vibrant color palettes with unusual color combinations were used.”

“The Bad Anon enchanted card was a really fun one to design because it allowed us to include little whimsical details in the art, such as the bows, confetti, and disco ball! You can see the glimmers, Ralph and Cycloptopus from Wreck-It Ralph, working together to prepare The Bad Anon Center for the celebration festivities.
The artist on this card, Rachel Elese, did an amazing job of making the empty room look like it’s ready for the party while still keeping the video game villain support group essence of the location.”

“Scar is giving a speech to the Hyenas. You can imagine Scar explaining to everyone around him how he contributed to the victory. When we work on art for Disney Lorcana, we ask ourselves, what would this character do? How would they react to the situation at hand? The artist on this card, Dominik Mayer, captured Scar’s reaction so well, and his unique style was a great fit for this special set.”
“Feeling really empowered, Arthur is calling for celebration now that Ursula has been defeated. We imagine him talking to a crowd of glimmers buoyed by the Steel ink magic, which helps him to lift Excalibur with one hand after he delivers the speech! The artist on this card, Lisa Parfenova, has captured the joy and surprise perfectly.”
Our final reveal is this gorgeous Amber Revive Action card featuring the youthful Mother Gothel bathed in light and color. This Action allows you to play a character with a cost of 5 or less from your discard for free. New Construction Permit Filed for Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort
Disney has filed a new construction permit for its Wilderness Lodge Resort at Walt Disney World, hinting at possible upcoming changes for this beloved destination. The permit, assigned to Adena Corporation, a trusted Disney partner, is notable for its extended validity period, lasting until December 25, 2026.
Adena Corporation has been involved in numerous major projects at Walt Disney World, including EPCOT’s World Celebration, TRON Lightcycle Run, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Their involvement suggests that the upcoming construction at Wilderness Lodge may be significant.
While the permit is vaguely described as “General Construction,” the extended timeframe and the high-profile contractor point toward a substantial update to the resort. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge last underwent a major renovation back in 2021. During that renovation, the rooms were updated with modern nature themes while maintaining the resort’s Pacific Northwest aesthetic. Upgrades included new hardwood flooring, modernized furniture, blackout curtains, redesigned headboards and accent walls featuring subtle Disney references like Bambi and Chip & Dale, and enhanced bathrooms with dual showerheads and wood tile accents.
As of now, Disney has not officially announced any refurbishment or update plans for Wilderness Lodge. However, the new permit indicates that guests can likely expect exciting changes on the horizon. Primark is coming to the Florida Mall, and will feature an entire store dedicated to Disney products
Primark, the international retailer known for quality fashion at value prices, is opening a new store at The Florida Mall in Orlando on Thursday, August 29, at 11 am. The store offers over 36,200 square feet of retail space with the latest trends and essentials for the whole family.
“Florida is key to our Southern US expansion. We’re excited to bring ‘Primania’ to Orlando with an entire floor dedicated to Disney merchandise,” said Kevin Tulip, President of Primark US. This Disney-themed floor will feature products from classics like “The Lion King,” “Lilo & Stitch,” Mickey Mouse, and more, with prices starting at $4 for tee shirts and $10 for denim.
This new location is part of Primark’s expansion into the Southern US, joining a store at Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise, Florida, and a distribution center in Jacksonville, Florida. Primark plans to open three more stores in Texas, bringing the total to 26 US stores across 10 states and marking the retailer’s 450th store globally.
To celebrate the opening, Primark will host events starting August 29 with giveaways and local treats for early visitors. The festivities continue on August 31 and September 1 with food trucks, performances, and more.

Disneyland Cast Members Ratify New Contracts Avoiding Strike
Disneyland cast members have averted a potential strike by ratifying new contracts with the company. The agreement comes after months of tense negotiations and averts a labor dispute that could have significantly impacted the theme park industry and disrupted the plans of millions of annual visitors.
Disneyland workers have ratified a new three-year contract. The deal, which covers 14,000 employees, includes significant wage increases with a minimum wage of $24 this year, improved benefits like expanded sick leave, and greater scheduling flexibility. The contract goes into effect immediately.
“For months hard-working cast members have stood together at the bargaining table and in the parks to ensure Disney recognized what they bring to the theme park experience, and these contracts are a concrete and direct result of this tireless work,” the bargaining committee for Disney Workers Rising said in a statement following the vote.
“Together by wearing buttons, attending rallies and telling their stories to the public, cast members fought for a more promising future for themselves, their fellow cast members, and their families,” it said.
Disneyland Resort employees in the union include custodians, ride operators, and retail workers. These workers are based at the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure theme parks, Downtown Disney, and the company’s three Anaheim hotels.
Contract negotiations between Disneyland Resort and its workers began in late April. Despite union demands for wage hikes, improved attendance policies, and seniority increases, the parties failed to reach an agreement before the initial contract expired in June. Amidst accusations of unfair labor practices by Disney, union members authorized a strike earlier this month.

With the ratification of the new contract, Disneyland workers have avoided a strike that could have severely impacted the park and the entire theme park industry. A work stoppage would have been catastrophic, according to industry expert Dennis Speigel. The last Disneyland strike occurred in 1984 and lasted 22 days.
Disneyland Resort expressed satisfaction with the ratification of the new contracts. In a statement, spokesperson Jessica Good emphasized the company’s appreciation for its employees and its commitment to their well-being.
