Pixar’s “Win or Lose” Removes Transgender Storyline Ahead of Disney+ Premiere
Pixar’s upcoming animated series, “Win or Lose,” will no longer include a transgender storyline when it premieres on Disney+ next year.1 This decision, confirmed by a Disney spokesperson, comes after the studio reportedly opted to remove a few lines of dialogue referencing a character’s gender identity.
“When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.”
While the character involved in the transgender storyline will remain in the show, the removal of the specific dialogue marks a shift in Pixar’s approach to representation in its content. A source close to the production revealed that the decision to alter the storyline was made several months ago, though Disney declined to provide further comment to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Win or Lose” follows the Pickles, a co-ed middle school softball team, in the week leading up to their championship game. Each of the eight episodes focuses on a different character, offering a unique perspective on the team’s journey.
This adjustment to the storyline has sparked debate among fans and critics, with some expressing disappointment over the removal of LGBTQ+ representation, while others support Disney’s decision to cater to parental preferences regarding sensitive topics.
After a long wait, the in-ground lighting effects in EPCOT’s World Celebration Gardens are fully illuminated. While this is a significant improvement, some Spaceship Earth Points of Light shows still require further adjustments to fully utilize the ground lighting.
While the lights are finally all working, we noticed only one of the Spaceship Earth Points of Light shows was synchronized with the in-ground lighting. Hopefully we will soon see all shows synchronized!

Disney has announced that Astro Orbiter at Magic Kingdom will temporarily close for a refurbishment starting January 13, 2025, with plans to relaunch in summer 2025. If you’re planning to blast off anytime soon, it’s time to chart your flight path before this interstellar icon goes offline!
Last year, the Astro Orbitor at Disneyland took a six-month hiatus for a major tune-up. During its downtime, the ride was completely dismantled and returned looking shinier than ever, with new lights, fresh paint, and subtle design enhancements. Magic Kingdom’s version could be on a similar trajectory, aiming to look more “Tomorrowland” than ever.
According to the Walt Disney World website, the Walt Disney World version of the attraction is set for a refurbishment of a similar length. The notice on the rides page reads:
Astro Orbiter will be temporarily closed for refurbishment beginning January 13, 2025, and is planned to reopen in the summer of 2025.
