Disney+ Cancels ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ After One Season
Despite a strong start, the Disney+ Star Wars series “The Acolyte” won’t be returning for a second season, according to Deadline.
The show, which concluded its eight-episode run on July 16th, initially garnered significant attention with its two-episode premiere on June 4th. It even held the title of the biggest series premiere on Disney+ this year, racking up 4.8 million views on its first day and 11.1 million views globally within five days.
However, viewership dwindled after the initial excitement, with the show dropping out of Nielsen’s Top 10 originals chart after its second week. The finale’s viewership numbers were particularly concerning, clocking in at 335 million minutes, believed to be the lowest for any Star Wars series finale.
This cancellation doesn’t mean the end of Star Wars content on Disney+. Fans can still look forward to upcoming releases like “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” and the second season of “Andor,” details of which were unveiled at the recent D23 Expo.
Disney Waives Arbitration in Wrongful Death Lawsuit Following Guest’s Allergic Reaction
Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro has issued an official statement addressing the pending wrongful death lawsuit stemming from a guest’s fatal allergic reaction after dining at Raglan Road, a third-party restaurant at Disney Springs in Florida.
The incident occurred in October 2023, when the guest consumed dishes at Raglan Road after allegedly being assured of their safety for those with allergies. Disney initially filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed by the guest’s husband, citing an arbitration waiver signed when creating a Disney+ account.
However, D’Amaro’s recent statement indicates a change in course. “At Disney, we strive to put humanity above all other considerations,” he said. “With such unique circumstances as the ones in this case, we believe this situation warrants a sensitive approach to expedite a resolution for the family who have experienced such a painful loss. As such, we’ve decided to waive our right to arbitration and have the matter proceed in court.”
This implies Disney is withdrawing their motion for dismissal. The company’s initial stance argued they shouldn’t be involved in the lawsuit, as Raglan Road is a third-party entity.
The lawsuit contends that Disney’s marketing assures the public that food allergies are a top priority at its parks and resorts, including Disney Springs. It claims the deceased guest relied on these representations when choosing Raglan Road for dinner.
Following the incident, Raglan Road updated its website to explicitly state that they “CANNOT guarantee that any dish we prepare is free from Gluten/Allergen or free from cross-contact.”
This development highlights the gravity of the situation and Disney’s decision to prioritize compassion and resolution for the grieving family.

Disneyland officials confirmed plans to introduce similar modifications to the attraction.
While Disneyland has confirmed plans to update the Never Land Tribe scene on Peter Pan’s Flight to align with the recent changes made at Walt Disney World, no refurbishment is currently scheduled for the attraction. The Disneyland operating calendar shows no closure dates through September 30th, but it’s important to note that this schedule can change. Disney officials have stated that a specific timeline for the updates has not yet been determined.
The updated Never Land Tribe scene at Magic Kingdom features Tiger Lily and her grandmother performing a graceful dance on a rotating platform in front of three newly designed tipis. Other tribe members are depicted playing a drum nearby. The tipis featured in the queue and throughout the ride’s environment have also been redesigned to align with the new scene.
