A year ago they were guest hosting Monday Night Raw, and now on December 10th Disney’s The Muppets will make their glorious return to WWE’s flagship show as Social Media Ambassadors. Given their history with some of the WWE Superstars, we’re sure they’ll have plenty to say on the goings on of the WWE Universe. Will Miss Piggy have more words for Vickie Guerrero? Have you ever rung in the New Year at Walt Disney World? It’s on my very long Disney Bucket List! Here are few tips and list of events from Chip & Co. if you are headed that way this year.

Magic Kingdom

Extra Magic Hours-7am to 8am, Park Open 8am to 2 am.

The Magic Kingdom will continue to have their holiday decorations up for the festivities. Special performances throughout the day will be capped off by an 11:50 pm fireworks show “Fantasy in the Sky”. For the younger set, an 8:30 pm fireworks show of “Holiday Wishes” will be a nice treat before heading to bed. There are no special meals or events planned at Magic Kingdom, and the park is extremely busy. If going to Magic Kingdom is important to you, arrive earlier in the day and stay there. They have been known to close within hours of opening.

Ty Burrell Set to Star in ‘The Muppets’ Sequel

It looks like ‘The Muppets‘ sequel has finally found its star to takeover for Jason Segal in the new film. Segal isn’t set to reprise his role as Gary in the sequel to the 2011 film, but Walt Disney Studios has found another great comedic actor to take his place. Ty Burrell, who many will recognize as Phil from ABC’s hit comedy ‘Modern Family’, is set to star in the film as an Interpol Inspector in the film, but at the time we don’t know the characters name. In fact, very little is known about the film at this time, other than the fact that the film will follow the Muppets, including the new edition Walter, as the travel through Europe on some sort of caper. Burrell is taking over for Christoph Waltz, who had to unfortunately bow out of the role. The film is set to shoot in London next year, with a script by Nicholas Stoller, who wrote the first film with Segal, and returning director James Bobin.

I’m a huge fan of Ty Burrell, and think his work on ‘Modern Family’ is excellent, so I’m very excited to see him join the cast of the new film. I was very sad to see that Waltz had to drop out, but Burrell is more than capable of filling his shoes. ‘The Muppets’ was one of my favorite films of last year, so I definitely can’t wait for the sequel, and I really hope it lives up to the first one. ‘The Muppets’ sequel is currently untitled and doesn’t have a release date yet, but I’d expect winter 2013 or 2014.

Johnny Depp is On Board to Produce a More Modern Don Quixote Film

Disney has inked a deal for a more modern twist on Miguel de Cervantes classic novel “Don Quixote” and Johnny Depp is signed on to produce.

Depp along with his sister, Christi Dembrowski’s company Infinitum Nihil will be producing while Steve Pink will co-write and direct, along with Jeff Morris being the other co-writer.

The Pink and Morris team are currently working together on another project, “True Memoirs of and International Assassin” which Pink is to direct and Morris wrote.

Infinitum Nihil produced Depp movies such as “Dark Shadows”, “The Rum Diary” and Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo”.

Sounds like a great team getting ready to remake a classic movie…this has been done before and hopefully it will be a great film to watch so stay tuned for more info!

On my son’s first trip to Disney I was incredibly disappointed that there were not many options to let infants/toddlers crawl around. Now before I get virtually stoned for my previous statement, this was around the time that Pooh’s play area was closed in Magic Kingdom to make way for New Fantasyland. At that time I had no idea what to expect and I was concerned that there wasn’t going to be much for the younger crowd. I am happy to say that I couldn’t have been more wrong!

My first stop in this short series is the story book circus that is part of the new (might I add stunning) Dumbo the flying elephant! While waiting to ride Dumbo you now can “play while you wait.” When you arrive at Dumbo you can opt to receive a pager that will virtually hold your place in line! The pager will buzz you when it is your turn to ride. How amazing is that?!

This play area features:

A circus like atmosphere, with circus decor
Slides
Climbing nets
A toddler play area in the center ring
Seating so that you too can sit back and relax

Music, magic and merriment come together when Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida present the 29th annual “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” holiday TV special, airing December 25 on the ABC Television Network. Hosts Nick Cannon and Mario Lopez, along with co-host Maria Menounos, lead the two-hour telecast with GRAMMY® Award-winning trio Lady Antebellum headlining the seasonal celebration. As our kids grow, we are always looking for fun new ways to teach them simple things-numbers, colors, shapes, etc. Apple has launched a new app for the Ipad, as well as the iPhone and iPod touch.

This week, Disney Pixar’s smash hit Finding Nemo was released on Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D DVD for the first time, allowing viewers to experience the story like never before. Disney Developing Sequel to Tim Burton’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’

It looks like a sequel to Tim Burton’s ‘Alice in Wonderland‘ is currently in the works over at Walt Disney Studios. The first film was a smash hit globally, bringing in over $1 billion worldwide, so it’s no surprise that Disney would look at returning to it. The studio has hired Linda Woolverton, who wrote the script for the first film, to return to pen the sequel. Plot details about the sequel are being kept under wraps, so we have no idea who will return, but I’d bet we’ll see Mia Wasikowska return as Alice, and with Depp’s great working relationship with Disney, he may return as the Mad Hatter. Tim Burton is the wild card though, because he’s only made one sequel in his career, ‘Batman Returns’, and has avoided sequels for the most part. But with rumors circulating that he’s toying with the idea of ‘Beetlejuice 2’, maybe there’s a chance we’ll see Burton return to the director’s chair as well. For now, there’s very little else we know, so keep an eye out, as we’ll post more when we know it.

The growing trend right now for Walt Disney Studios seems to be returning to many of their animated films and turning them into live action films. I like the unique storytelling it brings to the stories. With work right now on live action re-tellings of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ in the form of ‘Maleficent’, a new take on Peter Pan in ‘Peter and the Starcatchers’, and the development of a new ‘Cinderella’ film by the studio, I wonder what else we could see the studio returning to?

Indiana Jones Adventure in Disneyland is About to Re-Open Better than Ever!

Disneyland park guests it is time to celebrate! Indiana Jones Adventure will officially resume operation on December 8^th! The ride has been closed for three months being refurbished.

With the holidays approaching and crowd levels expected to rise, no other attraction at Disneyland Resort is scheduled for closures in December.

The popular ride, Indiana Jones Adventure, opened in 1995 and initially had some problems with more than 300 visitors reporting injuries from the ride within a 3-year period. This current refurbishment had nothing to do with any of these past complaints, instead visitors should expect to see a new mural in the dart room, and the bridges got a new look with ragged planks.

Overall, the ride has undergone “show modifications to enhance lighting, paint, figure animation and other effects,” Kevin Rafferty, a Disneyland Resort Spokesman said.

This attraction is one of the most expensive to maintain at the Disneyland Resort. The ride seats are Jeeplike vehicles, that maneuver through archaeological scenes, in vehicles that weigh 12,800 lbs.
