Has the Plot For Brad Bird’s ‘Tomorrowland’ Been Revealed?

Brad Bird

Ever since Brad Bird’s new film, ‘Tomorrowland‘, originally thought to be titled ‘1952’, has been announced, there has been so much speculation and rumor surrounding the project that it was impossible to figure out just what the film was possibly about. The most popular theory surrounding the film included it dealing with Walt Disney working with the government to help cover up UFOs, and that seemed to be gaining a lot of steam, with many thinking that George Clooney would be playing the middle aged Walt. The other was that Bird was directing ‘Star Wars Episode VII’, but that was debunked the moment that J.J. Abrams signed on to direct the highly anticipated follow up to the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy.

But now, it seems, that our friends over at Hitfix may have figured out just what ‘Tomorrowland’ is in their exclusive article. Now, this contains what could be for some major spoilers for some, so if you don’t want to know what the film might be about, don’t hit the jump. But for those who are curious to jump ahead and get an idea of just what might be in store for this film, hit the jump to get a taste of what we may be seeing.

Lakewood Ohio Man Pledges to Send Sick Children to Disneyland

Disneyland Castle

27 year old Alex Sheen took an idea from a sad situation and is changing peoples lives because of it, and sending many deserving children to Disneyland.

The Lakewood Ohio man has caused a social media phenomenon, and it comes from a tribute that he is paying to his late father Al, who passed away of Cancer this past fall.  At his father’s funeral Sheen created and passed out small cards with the words “Because I Said I Would” at the bottom of them.

“What you do is you write a promise on the card, and you give that card to a person that you’re making that commitment to, you say ‘I’m going to fulfill this promise’,” said Sheen. “When you do, you get that card back, and you keep it as a reminder that you’re a person of your word.” he told Fox8 News.

Soon after this Sheen created a Facebook page for “Because I Said I Would” and has mailed thousands of cards around the world and the county.  Sheen also decided to make a pledge of his own.  While planning a trip to Las Vegas Sheen learned about the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada and was moved by their story and what they did.  So he sent 20 individual cards to the organization, pledging to send 20 kids to Disneyland.  The idea was so popular that his website got a half a million views and crashed the site.

WDW Deluxe Resorts – Why They’re Worth The Cost

DelWorthCost Pic1

There are a ton of amazing Walt Disney World Resorts to choose from, so many that Disney had to divide them into categories, with Value Resorts being the cheapest with the smallest rooms and fewest ameneties, and the Moderate Resorts have larger rooms and more on site ameneties, and then there’s the Deluxe Resorts, which are the largest, fanciest Resorts with – you guessed it – the largest price tag too. So why would you pick a Deluxe Resort over WDW’s cheaper Resorts?

Well, here are some reasons:

DelWorthCost Room

More Space: The rooms at WDW Deluxe Resorts are biggest and most luxurious on WDW property – some of them are so beautiful that you may never want to leave (which would be ok, because room service and concierge service is also available at several of these resorts). All standard Deluxe rooms come with two queen or 1 king size bed, and ample sink and bathroom space for you and your family to spread out. Plus, there are plenty of different room choices as many Resorts offer Garden or Water views with balconies, and some also have suites available. If you’re traveling with your family, the larger rooms and suite options that the Deluxe Resorts offer would be perfect for you.

Disney Confidential – What About Downtown Disney?

disneyconfidential2

Hey Gang! I want to ask you a Disney Question…What is going to happen to Downtown Disney? First, they got rid of Pleasure Island and the Adventurers Club, then they talked about something called Hyperion Wharf, but then put Hyperion Wharf on hold. So this leads me to now ask…has anyone heard anything about Downtown Disney?

I HAVE, I HAVE shouts Anonymouse! Coming to you from Anonymouse headquarters…this just in! There is some cover information coming from WDW News Today about some leaked concept art and details about Downtown Disney becoming “Disney Springs”.

This information talks about three different districts including West Side, The Village Marketplace, and The Town Center. Each area will have a backstory that describes the theming of the area and how it has evolved.

These images created by Disney and leaked to WDW News Today has caused quite the stir, not about the information…though that was significant but a twitter feud has erupted dealing with watermarks. Chimp Chip was able to stay out of this drama, only because he hasn’t figured out how to use it yet. Just kidding he is ok at Twitter. You can stalk follow him here.

New Information on Disney My Magic+ MagicBands

Picture-8

Lately I have noticed there is a lot of chatter and all anyone wants to talk about, complain about or gossip about is the Disney My Magic+ MagicBands that are being tested at Walt Disney World. As per usual, Disney has let little nuggets of info slip out here and there about these magical wrist bands…just enough to have people talking and clamoring for more. Well, they just have released some new details recently that has interesting written all over it.

Read below these details and then let’s talk some more about how this makes us feel?

  • Made of a hypoallergenic material, MagicBand is flexible and comfortable to wear. It has ridges on the backside that help air circulate between the band and the wrist. It has been designed to withstand hot and cold temperatures. It is also waterproof.
  • The MagicBand easily scales to fit nearly any guest. It is adjustable and has a peel away layer to make the band small enough to fit children.
  • Guests who visit MyDisneyExperience before their vacation will have the opportunity to personalize their MagicBand with one of seven colors (Green, Blue, Pink, Yellow, Orange, Black, and Red as far as we can tell). They will also be able to have their name printed on the inside of the band. Guests who do not personalize their bands will get a two-tone grey band.
  • In the future, guests will be able to personalize the band with different accessories.
  • As soon as MagicBand testing begins, guest can use it during the vehicle design process at Test Track.

So, I know I have seen a lot of complaining that people do no like wearing things on their wrists, etc. but it seems Disney is taking that into account. Now, aside from the physical comfort, what do you think about some of the customization details? I know I want them to save me a Pink band!

What’s the Right Age to visit Disneyland?

Mickey_Feeding_Jakob

As you might have guessed, we here at Chip and Co love Disneyland! As a newer writer here, I have imagined some of the questions readers may have. One that I struggled with personally was what’s the right age to visit Disneyland? I imagine some of you may have the same concerns.

So my wife and I discussed, with some trepidation, taking our toddler son with us right after his 3rd birthday. We wondered what’s the right age to visit Disneyland? Additionally, we were feeling slightly guilty over the number of trips we’d taken since his birth to Disneyland without him. So we said Hakuna Matata and off we went. This was an especially good trip for his first visit. We were fortunate enough to have my Sister in law and her family with us, including our 6 year old niece. They were visiting us from Stockholm for a few weeks, so off we went. It was both kids first visit!

I know many, many parents have asked me what’s the right age to visit Disneyland? I’m not fully sure there’s a correct answer. Before going we felt 3 may have been too young. In some ways we were right, mostly we were wonderfully surprised at his enjoyment, wonder and curiosity over the whole magical experience. Were there moments of time that we wanted to rip our hair out, yeah… Quite a few moments. Were there just as many, if not more moments of looking at each other with pride in our kid who was loving Disney as much as we were…  Absolutely.

Wreck it Ralph Bluray Review

wir

I had the pleasure of checking out the Bluray/DVD copy of Wreck it Ralph, which is available tomorrow in stores! Let me just say to all the classic video game nerds like myself who had the pleasure of growing up on the Atari, NES, Sega Genesis this movie is for you!

I saw Wreck it Ralph 3 times in the theater and couldn’t wait to own it on Bluray. My writer Patrick wrote a great movie review about it when it was in the theaters. In case you haven’t been following this movie, here is a little info about the film:

From Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Wreck-It Ralph” takes viewers on a hilarious journey.  For decades, Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) has played the bad guy in his popular video game. In a bold move, he embarks on an action-packed adventure and sets out to prove to everyone that he is a true hero with a big heart. As he explores exciting new worlds, he teams up with some unlikely new friends including feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman).    The film is directed by Emmy-winner Rich Moore.

Featuring an all-star voice cast including Jack McBrayer as the voice of Fix It Felix, Jr. and Jane Lynch as the voice of Sgt. Calhoun, plus breakthrough bonus features that take viewers even deeper into the world ofvideo games, Disney’s “Wreck-It Ralph” has something for every player. Over an hour of all-new bonus material is featured on the Digital and Blu-ray Combo Pack, including deleted and alternate scenes, the theatrical short “Paperman,” plus much more.

In a time where everything Hollywood releases is either a sequel or a remake it’s nice to see Disney thinking outside the box.

Wreck it Ralph has a ton of bonus content a lot more than most bluray releases. The fake classic commercials were the best. It reminded me of the old Nintendo Power Commercials I would see on Saturday Morning Cartoons.

Nap Time at Disney World’s Baby Care Centers

Nap Time at Disney World's Baby Care Centers

If you are traveling to the Walt Disney World Resort with an infant or toddler, chances are you are going to have to allow time for your child to nap during your day. If you have been following along with fellow writer Mickey Mom she has been sharing her Top 5 Nap Spots at WDW. You can read about Epcot and the Magic Kingdom here.

One popular option for families staying at a Disney resort is to go back to their resort during the day to rest and even allow older children time at the pools. However, some families may not want to leave the park during the day, especially if there are rides and attractions older children may want to see. The good news is that you have options for whatever works best for your family! There are plenty of places for nap time at Disney World!

One of the best options for families staying in the parks, but need somewhere to go for a small child to nap is the Baby Care Center. All 4 of the Disney theme parks have indoor Baby Care Centers. These offer amenities such as a private nursing room with rocking chairs, a changing room, a feeding area with highchairs, a kitchen with microwave, oven and sink, a sitting room with TV, and an on-site shop offering formula, baby food, juice, diapers, wipes, sunscreen, over-the-counter medications and clothing for purchase. They offer a break from the heat and crowds and an area for your child to nap.

Disney Apps for Sale in the App Store

001ReadAlong

Disney has three apps on sale for iOs until March 4th.  I was so lucky to get to review these three apps for my little one, and I hope you’ll take advantage of this sale!

In this action-packed adventure, Woody learns all about his past and makes new friends that are sure to last a lifetime. Delightful animations and surprise features fill each page, and children can even record their own voice and listen to themselves narrating this lovable tale.

Here is What I Thought:  Your preschooler and early reader will enjoy this app because it has the option of letting the narrator read to your child OR your child read it for him or herself.  The voice recording feature was so fun for my daughter, and I liked that it could personalize the narration.  If I wanted to record myself reading, or let my daughter hear me reading the story to her when I’m not around, I could.
