Unleash the Villains

Disney’s dastardly villains are ready to unleash some Limited Time Magic at Disney Parks on September 13 — Friday the 13th..

Both Disneyland Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort will stay open until the 13th Hour (1 a.m.).  To celebrate the momentous evening, notorious Disney villains like Maleficent, Capt. Hook, Hades will host a wicked dance party, plus lots more spooky fun.

The hub of the villains’ festivities will be staged “dead” center of Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Hades’ Hangout – the hottest club north of the Underworld.

The “Lord of the dead,” Hades, will host spine-tingling fun while his henchmen, dancers, interactive DJ and hot house band keep the nighttime activities on fire.  Hades’ 13 devilish Disney brutes will be waiting in Villain Encounters surrounding Hades’ Hangout for greetings and autographs with guests.

To celebrate the imminent arrival of the midnight witching hour “Villainy in the Sky” will set the sky ablaze with spectacular fireworks, and keep the party going until the 13th hour.

It’s all happening for a limited time only from 8 p.m. – 1 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013 as part of Limited Time Magic at Disney Parks.  Limited Time Magic features 52 weeks of magical experiences — big and small — ranging from park-wide events to special culinary treats to special moments of surprise and delight.

On this spooktacular evening, villains will take over Disneyland as well. Town Square is transformed for the party where guests may see villains like Captain Hook, the Queen of Hearts, Judge Frollo and Lady Tremaine.  Cobwebs and vines, Halloween-themed projections, lighting effects and an eerie fog set the tone for the evening.  Witches and warlocks will get the dance party started, spinning a mix of upbeat Halloween tunes and Disney-friendly Top 40 hits.

Later in the evening, the twisted celebration spills over to New Orleans Square Train Station with lurking Disney villains ready for the Unleash the Villains Dance Party featuring a lit-up dance floor and raised platforms, spooky décor and lighting effects.  A mischievous station master DJ conducts this party — announcing the arrival of a different ghoulish Disney villain at the 13th minute after every hour.  Villains will be on the prowl after dusk for photo ops and character greetings, plus a few special surprises.

Disney’s Planes Storybook Deluxe App Review

planes 1
planes 1

planes 1

I recently had the opportunity to review the Disney’s Planes Storybook Deluxe app. When you open the Disney Planes app, you are presented with 3 choices:

  • Read and fly
  • Scan and fly
  • Race and fly

The read and fly reads the Planes story to your child, but also lists the words on the screen. Dusty flies through each page and there’s even a flying game after a few pages for your little one to play. Your child turns each page at his or her own page which is great for kids who are learning to read. Clips from the movie are even interspersed into the story.

The scan and fly option allows you to take a picture of the Planes logo in order to unlock a new plane.

The race and fly option is a fun game for your kids to choose a plane to race and then select their flight path- trainee, pilot, or captain. Your kids will love working their way up to the captain’s level.

This is a fun app for kids of all ages. As a parent, I appreciate that Disney has added the narrated story to the app so it’s more than just a game to play. This app was a big hit with my son!

Disney’s Planes Storybook Deluxe app is available now in the Entertainment category of the Apple App Store.

Also, when you purchase the Planes Read-Along Storybook and CD Bundle, available exclusively atThe Disney Store and Disney Parks, you will receive the “Planes: Storybook Deluxe” app for free, including four exclusive Planes to fly as in the app’s “Race & Fly” game.

Have you tried the Disney Planes app yet? What did you think?

I started watching this onDemand with a little skepticism. I was afraid it would have every “country cliche” there is out there, but I was wrong. ABC studios did an amazing job of creating a terrific show with new twists, great story lines and even a soundtrack that you can listen to without watching the show. Don’t worry, if you aren’t a fan of country music, the story lines are deep enough that you can still enjoy the show. I can’t wait to see what the Blu-Ray has to offer.

Alleged Disney Travel Agency Cheats Kids Out of A Dream Vacation to Disney World

Disney scammer
Disney scammer

Disney scammer

A Disney World vacation turned into a nightmare for a group of dance students from Tennessee.

Blue Sky Journeys, a self proclaimed Disney Authorized travel agency are being accused of scamming the group out of more than $60,000 by accepting payments and then not following through on travel arrangements.

Earlier this month, agency owner Melanie Swoap and her husband John Swoap were indicted on the charge of stealing between $60,000 and $250,000, by a Williamson County grand jury. If convicted, they face eight to 12 years in prison.

District Attorney Kim Helper stated that John Swoap also faces charges related for to trying to deposit a couple of the dancers’ checks twice.

The school, arranged the Disney World trip as a way to expose the dancers to the realities of performing for major destinations like Disney. The trip had been booked since August 2012 through Blue Sky, but when the families arrived in Orlando, they found that the shuttle-pass numbers provided by the Swoaps didn’t work. Then they got to their resort only to find they had no rooms reserved, and no park tickets. Several parents presented credit cards to book rooms and passes on the spot, and the trip went on as planned.

There’s no indication of the cost of it all. Money for the trip went directly to Blue Sky. That should have been a red flag to the dance school.

Just about all Travel Agencies like our own Destinations in Florida never accept any form of payment (like cash). They don’t process credit cards or accept checks, they will take clients’ credit card numbers over the phone and then call Disney to make arrangements. But ultimately they do not touch people’s money.

Late Thursday, Fox 17 learned John Swoap is also under investigation for getting unemployment benefits while working at the travel agency. The Swoaps would not talk on camera, but in a Facebook statement said “We are retaining legal representation regarding this matter and our position at this time is that a dubious allegation has been claimed against us as 90 percent of all monies have been refunded to individuals.”

Always be on guard and do your research! If you want to read more check out the Yahoo Shine article.

Marvel’s superheroes will soon start their road trip crossing the country.

Hero Ventures is a L.A. entertainment start-up, said on Wednesday that the Marvel Experience would visit as much as 22 cities annually starting next year. Imagine a type of interactive circus: a movable “dome,” set up in a open area it will have a simulator-style ride and “virtual reality and holographic simulations,”

The announcement did not give many details, and did not specify which Marvel characters would be featured.

Marve is also working on a  live-action show with Feld Entertainment, which also produces Disney on Ice. It will be called Marvel Universe Live.

Disney Quick Tips – Arrive for Rope Drop

ropedrop2
ropedrop2

magic kingdom, rope drop

The first tip I give anyone looking for advice on their Disney vacation is to arrive at the parks before rope drop. Rope drop is the time when guests are allowed to enter the parks and those times are often before the posted opening time. The Magic Kingdom has a great show to welcome guests. Cast members and characters arrive by train to sing and dance and get everyone excited for their day. (Not the everyone wasn’t already excited!) It’s a great show! Other parks have more of a soft opening and simply allow guests early admission to the parks.

I would suggest arriving at the parks 30 minutes before the posted opening in order to get through security and to be ready as the park opens. The first hour is the least crowded and you can get through a handful of attractions that may soon have long wait times. Be prepared with your top attractions at each park and head directly to those when you enter each park.

We always plan on being at each park at least one morning per trip and always arrive before rope drop in order to get to the most popular attractions early in the day. It’s well worth waking up a bit early!

If you’ve never been to the parks for rope drop, I highly recommend it for your next trip!

Amy
