Disney Parks will give you the chance to “Show Your Disney Side” as they kick off the summer with a 24-hour, coast-to-coast party that invites fellow Disney addicts, like myself, to “Rock Your Disney Side” at 3 Disney parks , Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort in California, and the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Starting 6 a.m. Friday, May 23, to 6 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014*, on each coast, you get to spend 24 hours partying and living it up with unique park experiences and the chance to “Show Your Disney Side” by dressing as your favorite Hero or Villain.  I vote for the villains.

Did I mention that I love the villains!

Just remember: Costumes should be child-friendly and adhere to any guidelines determined by Disney.

The 24-hour party also features special entertainment. Check out the lineup:

At Walt Disney World Resort, near Orlando, Florida
In Florida, a cast of Disney Villains will have a special place in the Magic Kingdom 24-hour celebration, including Maleficent, Cruella De Vil and such rarely spotted miscreants as the Big Bad Wolf, Stromboli from “Pinocchio,” and Bowler Hat Guy from “Meet the Robinsons.”  They will appear in locations throughout the park and also join in the “It’s Good to Be Bad” cavalcade preceding Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade.

Guests at the Magic Kingdom will enjoy nighttime dancing around Cinderella Castle and in Frontierland. The “#IncrediblesSuperDanceParty,” a nightly feature throughout the summer, will be followed during the All-Nighter by special screenings of “The Incredibles” at the Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland.

At the Disneyland Resort, Anaheim, California
In California, the 24-hour fun begins in the Esplanade outside the entrances to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks, where guests will discover Olaf, the lovable snowman from Disney’s blockbuster animated film “Frozen, represented by a larger-than-life sand sculpture.  Fireworks and live entertainment will entertain guests as the parks open at 6 a.m. Pacific Time.

At Disneyland, exciting entertainment will include the “Avengers Super Hero Movie Marathon” throughout the day and overnight in the Magic Eye Theater in Tomorrowland. Nighttime highlights will feature an after-midnight performance of “Mickey’s Soundsational Parade” and dance-till-dawn parties at the Tomorrowland Terrace Dance Club and the Sleeping Beauty Castle Forecourt Dance Club. In addition to 24 hours of atmosphere entertainment and appearances by Disney characters, the Disney Villains are planning an overnight “takeover” of the Royal Hall in Fantasy Faire.

Disney California Adventure invites guests to kick off summer with an all-night “Mad T Party,” dancing in Pacific Wharf and Paradise Garden, and a special 3 a.m. performance of “World of Color,” the water spectacular with nearly 1,200 dancing fountains.

Just the Beginning
The All-Nighter is just the beginning of the summer fun at Disney Parks on both coasts. Here are some other events that you may find interesting.

At Walt Disney World, the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train attraction, opening May 28, takes guests on a rollicking musical ride into the mine “where a million diamonds shine” and becomes the crowning jewel of New Fantasyland, the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history. Also at Magic Kingdom, the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade brings the magical stories of New Fantasyland to Main Street, U.S.A., through fantastic and innovative parade floats, vibrant costumes and an original soundtrack that features beloved songs from favorite Disney films along with a new parade theme song.

At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the popular and highly interactive musical show “Festival of the Lion King” returns this summer in the new Harambe Theatre. The park will offer Harambe Nights on Saturday evenings, June 7 through August 9, featuring a dazzling theatrical experience and energetic street party to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Disney’s acclaimed “The Lion King.”

At the Disneyland Resort, guests will enjoy the thrills of the newly reopened and enhanced Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, along with dazzling summer entertainment that, beginning in mid-June, will include “Frozen” characters in a special pre-parade float for “Mickey’s Soundsational Parade.” The pre-parade unit features Princess Anna and snowman Olaf frolicking in the snow while Queen Elsa is depicted in her icy domain.

Other summer entertainment in Disneyland includes daily performances of the enchanting “Mickey and the Magical Map” stage show, nightly performances of both “Fantasmic!” and “Magical” fireworks, featuring aerial flights by both Tinker Bell and Dumbo, and a variety of new entertainment daily in Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree. At Disney California Adventure, guests continue to enjoy the thrills and fun of Cars Land and the after-dark excitement of “World of Color” and “Mad T Party.”

How will you “Show Your Disney Side”?

Disneyland Planning Checklist

castle

We all want to get the most out of our vacations, and with some Key Disneyland Planning you can. We’ve created a handy checklist for you to follow along with as you start the planning process. If you use a Travel Agent, then they will do most of this for you.

Here’s a highlighted checklist of what to plan before arriving:

  • Plan the Best Time of Year for Your Visit – This is very personal, if you don’t like crowds, don’t go in July. If you don’t mind crowds and want full days with lots of options, July is probably your best choice.
  • Contact Your Travel Agent with a list of your wants – Put them to work for you, that’s what they do and at no cost to you
  • Order For Yourself Or Have Your Travel Agent Send You A Disney Vacation Planning DVD – It’s fun to watch no matter what
  • Write a Vacation Budget – Share with Your Travel Agent – this should include your must do’s, food budget (then add 20%), souvenir budget and Miscellaneous items
  • Decide On Your Resort – Disneyland Resorts or Good Neighbor – Both have many pro’s and con’s. Find the right one for you can take some time. Again, I recommend having a Travel Agent do this for you. Tell them your needs and wants and they will find it for you
  • Start Training Your Legs For A Lot Of Walking – I never do this and every time wish I had. My legs hurt at the end of the first day. Some might say I’ll never learn
  • View The Park Maps Online – Great way to plan out your days at the Park
  • 60 Days Prior have Your Travel Agent Book Dining – This is Very Important. Places like Blue Bayou, and Character meals fill up fast. Don’t miss out on your favorites by procrastinating.
  • Create And Follow a Packing List – Get the weather report for your visit times and pack accordingly. Don’t forget: Sunscreen, Medications, Sunglasses, Comfortable Walking Shoes, Camera, Cell Phone Charger, Glasses, Extra Contacts, Swimsuit, Light Jacket or Sweatshirt, Shorts, Jeans, Comfortable Backpack to carry everything, Postage Stamps to share your great time with family and friends via Postcards, and Extra Memory for Camera Plus Camera Charger
  • Plan Your Ride – Rental Car or Resort Transit – This could also help decide which hotel to chose. Do you mind driving to parks or do you want to walk? Do you want to be in the middle of all the action with no worrying about getting a ride or walking? There are lots of choices around Disneyland, Research well or again, have your Travel Agent find the perfect hotel for you
  • Find your Personal House of Worship – If you plan on crossing over Saturdays and Sundays, and it is important to your family to worship, then find a local church, synagogue, mosque or other house of worship to attend.
  • Make a Countdown to Disney Vacation Project – The kids, oh come on all of you will, will love the countdown and it will keep you on track with getting the most done on time. Plus the excitement never wears off, it just grows and grows!

I hope this list will help you on your next Disneyland Vacation. As always know that getting free help for your planning is just a click away!

Less Stress and More Magic at Walt Disney World

gg

When you stay on Disney property, you have everything you need, right at your fingertips?  Right?  Usually, that is the case.  Small shops at resorts and Downtown Disney can provide some basic needs, there are a few grocery stores right in the area, and Disney even rents their own strollers…uncomfortable and slightly impractical…but you can rent a stroller at the parks. However, there are some businesses that can make your Disney experience even easier and more magical that I want to share with you today.

  • Garden Grocer.  These people are AWESOME!   A week or so before you arrive at Disney, you can place your order on their website for almost anything you’ll need.  All your favorite grocery brands are there, and they will deliver right to your Disney resort.  Garden Grocer is great if you are flying OR driving.  Some perishable items, such as milk & juice, may not travel well in the car.  Or, if you prefer to have them bring over some diapers and other toiletry necessities so you don’t have to pack them in your luggage, they’re happy to do so.  Their minimum order is $40, and they do charge a $14 delivery fee.
  • Kingdom Strollers.  Kingdom Strollers is one of the best stroller rental companies in the Orlando area.  What is great about Kingdom Strollers is the quality of strollers they provide, and their customer service is unmatched.  Let’s face it, Disney rents strollers in the parks, but they aren’t nearly as comfortable or as convenient as renting them from Kingdom Strollers.  Even in cost comparison, Kingdom Strollers is better.  An average WDW vacation is 4-7 nights.  If you rented a stroller from the parks, at $13/day {which is the discounted rate for a multi day stay} you’d pay $72 for four days of renting.  Through Kingdom Strollers, it would be $50.  And also, their strollers are high quality City Mini, City Elite, BOB, and double strollers as well.  Kingdom Strollers is really your best option, and they are wonderful to work with.
  • Disney Floral and Gifts.  Disney Floral and Gifts, will make any celebration you have at Walt Disney World that much more special.  Whether it’s flowers, balloons, or mouse ears, you won’t be disappointed.  Our kids love seeing something special come from Disney Floral and Gifts,  and many of their packages are centered around a theme.  Cars, Toy Story, Princesses, and Pirates are popular.  Star Wars, Mickey, and Minnie Mouse are part of some gift packages as well.  Or, maybe you have a friend who is taking their family for the first time.  How sweet it would be if you sent them a gift, and it was waiting for them upon arrival!
  • Disney World Mobile Guide – TimeStream Software announces an update of its Disney World Mobile Guide app for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.  This app features a comprehensive list of trip-planning and in-park resources in an easy-to-use design.  It provides users with wait times, interactive maps, restaurant listings, menus, park hours, parade and event times, ride descriptions, Disney hotel information, phone numbers, over 300 pages of valuable information and much more, all complemented with over 600 high-quality photos.  Recognized as one of the top apps available for Walt Disney World Resort, the new Disney World Mobile Guide Version 1.7 features a wealth of valuable trip-planning and in-park resources, and it’s something you’ll want to add to your “trip planning to do list.”

How do you make your vacation easier or more magical?  Have you ever used any of these tips? I’d love to hear about it!

Big news for Disneyland Annual Pass Holders

disneyland logo
disneyland logo

disneyland_map

Big News for Disneyland Annual Pass Holders.  The popular Southern California AP option is GONE.  Disneyland which has just raised its AP Ticket prices today, has eliminated the West Coast’s favorite pass.  The So. Cal AP which gave guests the option of 215 days to visit including Sundays with block outs during the busy summer and holiday months was priced at $379.   This popular pass is rumored to have been the number 1 seller, allowing for So. California Residents to visit the parks on a regular basis.    For a family of 4 – the $1500+ per year was a big investment.  Now with the choices limited to So. Cal Select (which is not ideal for older kids  in school and working parents) or Deluxe, the changes will cause a huge uproar in the Disneyland AP community.    The $519 price tag on the Deluxe would result in an annual cost of almost $2,100 for a family of 4.   A $600 increase that could be better spent on meals and souvenirs for most will simply just no longer be affordable.    With over 1 million APs in Southern California, there have been rumors for months about the changes, unfortunately, getting rid of So Cal AP option will result in negative publicity and lose of revenue for Disneyland.

I personally have 7 So. Cal APs in my family.  We visit weekly and spend an average of $100+ per visit not including parking and AP costs.  With the elimination of the So. Cal AP, my family will now be forced to visit once or twice per year.    Our budget of $8,000 – $10,000 yearly spending will now go down to around $1,500-2,000.  Multiply that times over 1/2 million or more So. Cal APs and Disneyland will be losing a big chunk of change.  Most of all Disneyland will lose the AP loyalty.  Without affordable APs, So Cal Residents will fill their weekends with visits to other area parks.

The current AP options still available are:  So Cal Select with 170 days of park visits during the week is priced at $289.00.  For $519 you can purchase the Deluxe AP with 315 days of park visits including weekends and summer and most holidays.   And finally the Premium for $699 allows APs to visit the parks all 365 days of the year.

UPDATED INFORMATION:

I have some wonderful Disneyland Annual Pass Updates.   Earlier, I shared the sad news about the end of the So. California Annual Pass.  This popular pass valued at $379 was rumored to be the favorite purchased by over 1/2 to 3/4 of California residents.    While this morning’s Cast Member assured me over and over, we could no longer purchase this AP, I have just been informed that current guests who possess a Southern California Annual Pass and wish to renew their pass will still have the opportunity to do so at the current price of $379 with a $20 discount for early renewal.   This news may or may not be a result of the non stop phone calls by upset and discouraged APs who would not be able to continue their status and visit the Disneyland Parks on a regular basis.

The dark cloud that was covering my household has been lifted and we are now celebrating our continued membership as APs.   Thank you Disneyland for listening and acknowledging our loyalty.   See ya real soon!

Now Muppet fans can experience this laugh and song-filled caper like never before on Blu-ray Combo Pack in an all-new “Unnecessarily Extended Edition,” featuring 12 minutes of exclusive scenes not seen in theaters! Also included on Blu-ray and Digital HD are additional hilarious bonus features, including Statler and Waldorf’s version of the movie, and the laugh-out-loud gag reel, “The Longer, Longest Blooper Reel in Muppets History.”

This most sensational, inspirational, celebrational home entertainment release also includes the featurette “Rizzo’s Biggest Fan” and music video “I Can Give You What You Want,” performed by Bret McKenzie.

Starring Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, The Great Gonzo, Animal, Ricky Gervais (“The Office”) as Dominic Badguy, Ty Burrell (“Modern Family”) as Jean Pierre Napoleon and Tina Fey (“30 Rock”) as Nadya the Prison Guard, “Muppets Most Wanted” also features very special guest appearances by Tony Bennett, Sean Combs, Rob Corddry, Celine Dion, Josh Groban, Salma Hayek, Ray Liotta, Ross Lynch, Chloe Grace Moretz, Christoph Waltz, and more!

“Muppets Most Wanted” was directed by James Bobin (“The Muppets,” “Flight of the Conchords”), written by Bobin and Nicholas Stoller (“The Muppets,” “Get Him To The Greek”), and produced by David Hoberman (“The Muppets,” “Beverly Hills Chihuahua”) and Todd Lieberman (“The Muppets,” “The Fighter”).

I can’t wait to bring home the fun of “Muppets Most Wanted!” I grew up watching The Muppets and am thrilled with their comeback over recent years. If the Blu-ray release of “The Muppets” is any indication, I’m sure the bonus features on “Muppets Most Wanted” will be just as enjoyable as the film itself. I can’t wait to see all of the Muppets, including my personal favorite Beaker, in their new adventure when the “Muppets Most Wanted” Blu-ray Combo Pack is released on August 12th!
