Top 5 Things To Do Before Your Walt Disney World Trip

Luggage
Luggage

Luggage

Prepping for a family vacation to Walt Disney World involves a lot of organizing and planning, and there’s so much to do that it’s easy to forget things that might be really important to ensuring you have the best time possible. If nothing else, you should make sure you take care of These Top 5 Pre-WDW Trip Must-Do’s:

Scrimp And Save: Disney vacations are not exactly cheap, so make sure you’re saving up wherever you can! Once you book your trip, gather up the kids and make a cute DIY Vacation Fund jar, and make sure you stop by it when you empty the change out of your wallet/pocket/bottom of your purse – over time this will add up, and you can use it to help pay for the trip, or for souvenirs, or whatever you want!

Do Your Research: There are tons of good guidebooks out there, so pick one up and do some reading before your trip. Or, you can use the internet for some research too – but don’t make the mistake of getting caught up in people’s personal experiences and comments – keep it basic and read about where you’re staying, and get an overview of the rides/attractions, and food options available to you (especially important if you have allergies/special dietary concerns!). Do enough research to have a clue, but not so much as to overwhelm yourself

Make Your ADR’s: If you’ve never been to Disney, then you are in for a real culinary awakening (which may seem like a weird thing to say about Theme Park Food, but trust me – its true) – they serve up some of the best food I have ever had. And people are really starting to take notice – which means that every sit down restaurant at WDW is busy pretty much all the time. Luckily, you have the option of making Advance Dining Reservations (or ADR’s) as early as 180 days before your trip, and trust me, you’ll want to make ADR’s for all your sit down meals (especially if you’re looking to do some character meals). So read up on the Disney restaurants and make sure you are making ADR’s for them so you can ensure you’re getting to dine at all the places you want to try on your trip

Pack Smart: Make a list a few weeks before your trip of things to pack so you make sure you have enough time to get the things you may need in advance. On that list, you’ll want to include the following items: broken in sneakers & socks, sunscreen, Ziploc baggies, ponchos, comfortable loose clothing, snacks & a water bottle, and chargers/extra batteries for your various devices – which brings me to my next “must-do”…

Charge It Up: Make sure you not only pack chargers/car chargers/extra batteries for all your various phones/ipods/ipads/laptops/cameras etc, but that you charge all those devices before your trip too. Plane rides/car rides/layovers can all feel even longer if you don’t have anything to keep the kids (and yourself!) occupied. So don’t just bring that spare camera battery – but charge it the night before you leave. Follow this rule with all your various electronics – you’ll be glad you did (trust me!)

I have traveled to WDW many times – which means I have prepared/organized/packed for Disney many times too – take it from me, a little pre-trip planning goes a long way, and if nothing else, make sure you follow these “must-do” pre-trip tips to help ensure your vacation goes smoothly.

Disney World & Disneyland to Break Ground on Star Wars Land starting next year

Star Wars Land
Star Wars Land

Star Wars Land

It was recently announced by Tom Staggs, that both Disney World and Disneyland will break ground and begin construction on the 14 acre Star Wars Land in 2016.

“This will be I think perhaps the most immersive land we’ve ever built,” Staggs said of the upcoming project. “We want people to feel like they’ve stepped into the world of Star Wars and so that’s really sparked our imaginations and it’s got people fired up”

They say it will take several years before the new Hollywood Studios is open and ready. Although, they have never said what this expansion is going to cost, I am sure everything combined it is going to run in the billions.

Hollywood Studios has need something to revitalize it for quite sometime now. Many people refer to is as a “half a day park”. I am sure no one will call it that after all the new additions.

We still have no opening date.

Universal Orlando’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort Expansion set for 2017

Universal Orlando Cabana Bay Beach Resort
Universal Orlando Cabana Bay Beach Resort

Universal Orlando Cabana Bay Beach Resort

If you are a fan of Universal Orlando’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort as much as I am then you are going to love this latest announcement! Just a few days ago, Universal Orlando Resort and Loews Hotels announced that due to the extreme popularity of this retro-themed hotel they are set to add four-hundred new rooms opening in 2017.

The success of this resort is not surprising with it’s bold colors and retro inspired design, it just screams family fun. But let’s not overlook the relaxing elements of this amazing resort too with the beach feel, tall palm trees and sweet lazy river. It’s personally my favorite resort on the Universal property because of the fun vibe it has.The Cabana Bay Beach Resort will transport you back in time to the retro years of the 50’s-60’s.

Many of the amenities include two zero-entry pools, a waterslide, a lazy river, a 10-lane bowling alley and more.

Universal Orlando Cabana Bay Beach ResortPool1

Now let’s talk about the amazing rooms. The Cabana Bay Beach Resort consist of 900 standard guest rooms and 900 family suites, so guest can choose between two great options for their family vacation.

Universal Orlando Cabana Bay Beach ResortRoom

Universal Orlando Cabana Bay Beach ResortRoom1

The 2017, 400 room expansion will consist of two additional towers that will be located at the south end of the property which is closest to the Continental and Americana guest towers. The best part in my opinion is that select rooms in the new towers will offer a spectacular view of the Universal’s Volcano Bay water theme park which is also set to open in 2017. I don’t know about you, but I love a room with a great view!

6 Reasons why You Should Book your Spring Break Trip Now!

FG MM 1680x1050
FG MM 1680x1050

FG_MM_1680x1050

It’s time to think Spring in Disney World Vacation terms! When planning a vacation, it’s smart to plan at least 6 months out, and that means we are already looking toward March & April!

March starts off with low crowds and gets very busy at the end of the month because of Easter. April continues that busy season for a week due to Spring Break crowds, and then ends with light crowds. Traveling to Disney World during a busier time means you have to be prepared with dining and FastPasses. These are both things I help my clients do, so it’s easier on them. Weather in March, and especially April, is really nice. I suggest still taking a sweatshirt just in case temps drop in the morning and evening.

Why should you contact me SOON to book your March or April trip:

  1. It’s almost time to make Dining Reservations! At 180 days prior to travel, guests can make reservations at their favorite restaurants including character meals, pre-park opening breakfasts, and popular spots such as Be Our Guest or Cinderella’s Royal Table. If you miss this date, you won’t have an easy time finding openings.
  2. Cheap rooms get booked up first. The standard rooms always get filled up quickly, since they are the least expensive. Waiting too close to travel will leave you with slim choices, and only preferred rooms, suites, and higher price level rooms.  Art of Animation, Contemporary and Port Orleans resorts fill up first, and start booking at 500 days out.
  3. It’s almost time to book flights for spring. Airline prices are almost all open for spring, and 4-6 months out is a great time to purchase airfare.
  4. You still have 6 months to pay off your trip. Most people save up for a year or two ahead of their trip, but I suggest having at least 5 months to spread out the payments. I offer payment plans to my clients who want to pay monthly, or whatever is comfortable for them. They have to be paid in full 30 days before travel.
  5. If a discount or promo comes out for your dates and resort, you can still use it even if you are already booked! Taking advantage of discounts is a great way to save money. I always look out for my clients when it comes to getting promotions.  I always give you the same price Disney Travel can, plus customized planning services!
  6. After a long winter you will be glad you have a trip booked for Spring! The Epcot Flower and Garden Festival will be in full bloom and the water parks will be opening up after refurbishment. The weather is nice and hot in Florida in April, but not excruciating heat like  in July.

We have the perfect amount of time to plan a magical Walt Disney World Trip for the spring. Let’s do this! Contact me today at [email protected] and let me know you need some free price quotes, and what your budget is, and I will find something that works for you! Follow me on Facebook HERE. Don’t procrastinate….save money and book your package early!
