Disney Dining News – Hollywood & Vine will host Seasonal Minnie and Pals Dinners Year-Round!

After the great response from Disney diners over the new Minnie’s Holiday Dine,  Hollywood Studios has announced that this new experience will continue with many other dinners throughout the year!

Introducing, Minnie’s Seasonal Dine! Minnie Mouse will join her pals at the delicious Hollywood & Vine Restaurant to present various themed, seasonal dinners for their guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Minnie’s fabulous dinner parties celebrate the cheerful togetherness of the holidays, the glamour of Hollywood, the delight of spring, the excitement of summer and the frightening fun of Halloween. With each new season, look for unique music, décor, all-new costumes, menu items and interactive musical moments.

Reservations open October 27 for the next seasonal dine. From January 4 to March 20, Minnie will be hosting a dinner party celebrating the magic of the movies and the glamour of Hollywood!

I am assuming that the ever-popular Disney Junior Play n’ Dine will still be happening for breakfast and lunch as Minnie’s Seasonal Dine is for dinner reservations only. No word on the future of Star Wars Weekends Jedi Mickey dinners though. Keep watching Chip and Co. for updates.

Although the buffet menus will most likely vary, and have not been released yet, I think this is going to be a great addition to the dining selections at Hollywood Studios. My kids will love seeing the characters in different outfits and having a change of scenery! We will have to try the new breakfast menu at Sci-Fi now (that is one of their current favorites) to make room in our itinerary for Minnie’s Seasonal Dine!

The current Minnie Dinner is the Holiday Dine happening this Christmas. Reservations can be made by asking your World of Magic Travel agent, visiting DisneyWorld.com/DINE or call 407-WDW-DINE. Cost is $46.99 for adults, $27.99 for children or counts as one table-service entitlement on the Disney Dining Plan for the Christmas Holiday Dine. Prices are subject to change.  Fantasmic! dining is also available with Minnie’s Holiday Dine at Hollywood & Vine and is $52.99 for adults and $31.99 for children (plus tax and gratuity).

If you would like help planning your next Walt Disney World Vacation, and get help with those hard to get Dining Reservations at no cost to you, please email me at [email protected] or find me on Facebook HERE or check out my personal vacation pics on Instagram @summers_magical_travel. I love to help first timers experience the MAGIC of Disney while doing all the work for them.  See you at Minnie’s Seasonal Dinners!

Aladdin on Broadway is going global

AladdinOnBroadway

This was the last of Alan Menken’s Disney works with Howard Ashman, who has since past away in 1991 from Aids complications. Since “Aladdin” hit Broadway it has had almost 700 performers and over $122 million in ticket sales. There is a Japanese version playing in Tokyo and soon to be a version in Hamburg, as well as Sydney.

Key players in the show are:

  • Designed by Bob Crowley (An American In Paris, Skylight)
  • Lighting by Natasha Katz (the upcoming School Of Rock)
  • Illusions by Jim Steinmeyer (Mary Poppins)
  • Costumes by Gregg Barnes (Something Rotten!)
  • Sound by Ken Travis (Newsies). Trevor Dion Nicholas, currently playing Genie, will make his London stage debut in the role.

“In 1992, Howard Ashman, Alan Menken and Tim Rice’s reimagining of the Aladdin tale became the biggest movie of the year around the globe,” said Disney Theatrical Productions chief Thomas Schumacher. “Now 23 years later, we are thrilled to fly Aladdin’s carpet to London where the show has found its ideal home in Cameron Mackintosh’s stunning Prince Edward Theatre.” Also we hear it will open in Sydney, Australia in 2016.

Awesome right?

Is the New “Star Wars” Movie Anti-White?

2015-10-20 17_07_00-Racist trolls start #BoycottStarWarsVII because the main actor is black

As Star Wars fans eagerly await the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there has been some buzz online about the newest edition to the Star Wars franchise. Idiots People on Twitter & Facebook are saying the movie is promoting white genocide. #BoycottStarwarsVII, has been trending on twitter for a day now. There is now a Twitter account under the name of the hate filled hashtag to further promote their cause.

Unfortunately there are still racist people in the world that live to start unnecessary drama. Since the leads are not the usual white male they think that the movie producers are anti-white due to the growing number of minorities in lead roles. I guess they forgot that early Star Wars movies have had lead actors that were not white. Hello Lando Calrissian…

To quote Yoda… Anger leads to hate, and hate leads to the dark side…

What do you think? Let us know in the comment box below.

Be sure to check out the Star Wars Force Awakens trailer that released late last night and also enter this Sweepstakes from Fandango!

May the force be with you!

New Snack Options Now Available at Disney Parks and Resorts For Special Dietary Needs

Healthy Disney Snacks 1

Healthy Disney Snacks 1

I recently spotted these at Big Top Souvenirs, which is right in front of the Dumbo ride at the Magic Kingdom. They are called Snacks with Character and they are a healthier way to snack at Disney. They are not just healthier, but they are also allergy friendly. They are a bit expensive but what at Disney is not expensive right?

“We listened to guests who said they wanted options when it comes to snacks at Disney Parks,” explained Patrice. “The Snacks with Character line was developed in collaboration with Merchandise Product Development, Food and Beverage Health and Wellness, Disney Design Group, and various suppliers in this field. We hope guests will enjoy these new tasty treats that are fun to share.”

In order to make these snacks Disney Theme Park Merchandise joined forces with vendors like Ocean Spray, Enjoy Life Foods, Way Better Snacks and WOW Baking Company. There are several allergy friendly options, including nut-free and gluten-free. You can find these in select spots throughout Disney World Resorts, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and Aulani.

There will be more options later this year from Ocean Spray as well.

Thousands of Frozen Costumes Donated to Students in Central Florida

Thousands of kids in the Central Florida area (Lake, Osceola, Orange, Seminole, and Polk counties) got some Frozen magic in their lives recently. Disney donated thousands Frozen costumes in order to make room in their warehouse for new deliveries. Some school are using the donations to promote literacy and reward good behavior. Dresses went to 51 elementary schools that get title 1 funds, which is to help lower income students. So you might see even more Elsa and Anna’s at you door trick or treating this year.

These costumes are brand new and still in the bag. They retail for $64.95 each so the entire shipment was valued at around $817,000, just for the donation to Lake County.

Keep in mind, all the totals have not officially been released.

  • Polk 18 pallets
  • Osceola 47 pallets
  • Lake 21 pallets
  • Seminole and Orange gave no details.

Lake County distributed their donated costumes to kids that get free and reduced lunches.

“For us, it’s an opportunity to use these items that are being discontinued, and to find wonderful homes,” said Betty Martinez Lowery, Disney’s manager of corporate citizenship. “Our goal is to make sure nothing goes to waste, it doesn’t go to landfills and it ends up in the hands of children and families in the five-county Central Florida region.”

How magical is this? These kids are going to get high quality, very popular Disney costumes for Halloween. I am sure their Halloween will be amazing this year!

Tips for Visiting Disney While Pregnant

pregnant
pregnant

pregnant

Just recently I had the opportunity to visit the Disneyland Resort while I was 31 weeks pregnant. I’ve been to the parks while pregnant before, just never this pregnant and never in August. Boy was it hot! You may think that there’s not much you can do at Disney while you’re pregnant, but really the only things you miss out on are the bigger rides. There’s still so much to do and see! If you decide to visit the resort while you’re pregnant, here are my tips for having a great vacation:

Drink lots of water! Even if you have to go to the bathroom every 20 minutes, make sure you drink lots of water! Especially if you visit during the hot summer months, make sure to stay hydrated. There are water fountains throughout the parks and you can get free ice water at any counter service restaurant. I also really enjoyed getting wild cherry slushes from the cart in “a bug’s land” at California Adventure.

Take breaks. Let’s face it, we do a LOT of walking at the parks as well as a lot of standing in lines. This can cause some major swelling in your feet and legs when you’re pregnant. Be sure to take breaks! Go to a show, sit in the shade and people-watch, or eat lunch in an air conditioned restaurant. We got lunch at The Golden Horseshoe and caught a show.

Invest in a fan. Whether you bring your own or buy one of the spray fans at the parks, this is a must have if it’s hot out. And it was really hot while I was there! Nothing felt better while waiting in line than misting myself with cool water.

Fan

Wear a pregnancy belt. This was one thing I spaced out on and didn’t have with me. It would’ve made walking around the parks much more comfortable! It’s really for those who are already sporting a good sized baby bump so you won’t need one if you’re still early in your pregnancy.

Rent a scooter. We spent 4 1/2 days in the parks and by the 4th day, my feet were exhausted! So, I rented a scooter for our 4th day. If you can afford to rent an ECV, I strongly suggest getting one! I used it to get from point A to point B then parked it while we waited in line for rides. It felt so nice to be able to sit while going from ride to ride. ECV’s cost $50 a day plus tax and a refundable $20 deposit.

Pack snacks. If you have a certain snack you crave or something that helps keep the nausea at bay, take it with you into the parks. Spearmint gum was something I needed with me since gum is not sold in the parks (it helps with my heartburn-weird I know).

Wear comfortable shoes! Like I said earlier-you’ll be doing lots of walking and standing in lines at Disneyland. I made the mistake of wearing flip flops on our first day and my feet swelled up like balloons by the end of the day! Comfortable walking shoes are the best to wear while visiting the park whether you’re pregnant or not.

Stay on-site or within walking distance. At the end of a long day at the parks, nothing feels worse than having to walk a long way back to your hotel or wait for a shuttle. All 3 resort hotels are within an easy walking distance of the parks. If you can’t afford to stay on-site, there are many Good Neighbor hotels located across the street, also within easy walking distance. We stayed at the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn & Mini Suites. It’s located directly across the street from the entrance to the Disneyland Resort.

Have you visited Disneyland while pregnant? What tips did I miss?

While you won’t be able to ride everything, you can still have a fantastic time at Disneyland while pregnant! Be sure to listen to your body and take care of yourself, even if it means taking your time and going slow. I was able to experience things I’d never taken the time for before. We had a wonderful time and you can too!For help booking your Disneyland babymoon, email me at [email protected].
