New Details on Paddlefish Opening This Fall in Disney Springs

image

image

The formerly named Fulton’s Crab House will undergo an extensive refurbishment and reopen as Paddlefish this fall. The restaurant will offer a brand new seafood-centric dining experience and be open for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch.

Paddlefish will serve fresh seafood, steaks and chops, a catch of the day, and composed seafood entrees such as lobster risotto with poached Maine lobster, saffron and Meyer lemon oil and redfish with coconut milk, crab broth, tomato, peppers and ginger. (No worries, fan favorites including Florida stone crab, Alaskan King and Queen crab, and lobster corn dogs will be back.) A fun new addition is lobster guacamole made tableside with Maine Lobster, chilies, cilantro, lime and tortilla chips. And there’s a “build-your-own boil” so you can pick your own ingredients and seasonings.

The sleek and modern design of Paddlefish includes a new rooftop lounge, open until 2 a.m., with spectacular views of Disney Springs and the water. The lounge will have a separate menu of eclectic dishes perfect for sharing.

Stay tuned for more details.

Selfie Stick Causes California Screamin’ to Be Shut Down for Hours

cascreamin

cascreamin

Last summer, the use of selfie sticks were banned at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts for safety reasons. The ban came about when a rider of the California Screamin’ roller coaster at Disney California Adventure pulled out a selfie stick while on the coaster, causing concerns that this could pose a safety risk if the self stick were to break or hit something mid-ride.

Well, it looks like one guest didn’t get the memo–on Monday night around 5:30pm a rider pulled out a selfie stick (even though they aren’t allowed in the park at all) while on California Screamin’.

The ride was stopped once the stick was pulled out, which is the safety protocol for an attraction if ever one is pulled out. All of the guests were evacuated off of the attraction about 20 minutes later, and the roller coaster remained closed for a few hours.

Disneyland Fastpasses to go Paperless in the Near Future

2015 08 13 17.42.56
2015 08 13 17.42.56

FP

It seems as though Disneyland is about to renovate and update the way it handles FastPasses at Disneyland Resort. Currently the FastPass system uses paper ticket-style passes that are distributed from a machine, where you need to scan your park ticket at a specific ticketing location for each ride. You can only get one ticket at a time, until a certain amount of time has passed, and then you can choose another one, one at a time. It appears that even though we don’t have a start date for the changes, change is coming.

It appears the changes that will happen will simply be that the paper tickets won’t be required/handed out anymore. The system will work the same way as it does now, you just won’t get a physical ticket for your FastPass. This will not be a FastPass+  upgrade like at WDW, where you can pick and manage more than one FastPass at a time through the app, nor will you be able to choose your FastPass choices ahead of time either.  Your choices will only be able to be made the day of. There will also not be any magic bands used in this new upgrade. It isn’t clear whether the FastPasses will be linked to an app on smartphones, or of it will be attached to the barcode on the actual park tickets, but the FastPass choices will be made in the app, on the website, or at kiosks that will be placed through the park (similar to the Walt Disney World system).

What do you think of this new paperless system?

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at sea and created memories that will surely last a lifetime.

The Best Places For Chocolate Treats At Disney World

Caramel
Caramel

Caramel

Walt Disney World is well known for many things – it’s characters, it’s rides and attractions, and its FOOD, too! We aren’t talking just your standard “burgers and chicken nuggets” amusement park-fare here – they have it ALLLLL – cuisines from all around the globe, amazing drinks and snacks, and plenty of CHOCOLATE too.

If you’re like me and have a MAJOR sweet tooth, then you’ll want to read on for the Best Places To Find Chocolate Treats at Disney World:

Beaches And Cream: This “soda fountain” style eatery features American classics like burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches on its menu – all of which are delicious. But the star here is the ice cream menu – shakes and sundaes galore – and for you chocolate lovers: The Milky Way Sundae (drenched in hot fudge and caramel), Fudge Mud Slide (brownie AND hot fudge), and my personal favorite – the No Way Jose sundae featuring chocolate ice cream and peanut butter and hot fudge toppings – needless to say, you’ll be in heaven here when it comes to chocolate desserts!

Main Street Confectionary: This is one of my absolute favorite spots in all of Disney World – it’s an old fashioned candy shop located on Main Street and they sell pretty much any and every chocolate treat you can imagine. The candy case is stocked full of candy apples, Assorted dipped Krispie treats, chocolate covered bananas/pineapple/strawberries, cake pops, cupcakes, brownies, chocolate covered marshmallows, cookies…and as if that wasn’t enough, then there’s the ENGLISH TOFFEE (handmade) and ASSORTED FUDGE (turtle, cookies and cream, rocky road – to name just a few flavors). Seriously – my sweet tooth goes nuts in here, and I have to resist taking home one of everything

Boardwalk Bakery: Not only are there tons of amazing chocolate treats available here, but the location is amazing – a nice little boat ride over to the Resort from Epcot, and then a nice stroll down the beautiful boardwalk and boom – you’re in chocolate HEAVEN. Mickey tarts filled with chocolate ganache, chocolate cake, coffee mocha cupcakes, the amazing cheesecake brownie, peanut butter/banana/bacon pie…the list goes on. But really, I have to say, my go-to is the Mickey Tart – the crumbly shortbread-like outside and the creamy chocolate inside…can’t be beat for this choco-holic

Goofy’s Candy Co: the term “a kid in a candy shop” comes to mind when I enter this place – they sell any and all manner of packaged chocolate snacks – which are great to stock up on for when you’re home after your trip and those “post Disney blues” hit hard – salted caramels, chocolate covered pretzels, candy bars, and plenty more! There’s also a bakery style case offering tons of chocolate covered and filled treats, but the real attraction here for me is the “Create your own” treat – start with a base of a Krispie treat, apple, cookie, marshmallows on a stick, or pretzel rods and then they dunk it in your choice of dark, milk, or white chocolate. Then it’s on to the TOPPINGS – chocolate chips, M&M’s, butterfinger pieces, and many more choices – and then top it with a chocolate drizzle (if you dare!) for the perfectly personalized chocolate treat

Mickey Bar: ok so I know this isn’t a “location” to grab a chocolate snack, but I couldn’t write about chocolate at the Disney Parks without giving a nod to the most classic treat of them all – the MICKEY BAR! Vanilla ice cream shaped like the Mouse and covered in chocolate – it’s the most essential “must have” dessert of them all (or breakfast – I don’t judge). They can be purchased pretty much anywhere and everywhere at the Disney Parks, and the Resorts sell them too – so if you’ve never had one, you MUST on your next Disney trip – they are super easy to find, and super hard to resist

Now that I’m officially starving, drooling, and craving chocolate like crazy after writing that, I hope you take my advice and seek out some of these chocolate treats next time you’re at WDW – trust me, you will NOT be disappointed!
