To infinity… and straight into reopening week. Over at Magic Kingdom, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has officially entered its final form, and we’ve now seen it both before and after the big reveal.

Last night, we caught the attraction glowing under Tomorrowland’s neon skyline, showing off its freshly completed paint job while construction walls still hugged the entrance. The new look leans hard into Buzz’s signature green and purple color scheme, with crisp lines, brighter lighting, and a much more modern Star Command vibe. Even behind the walls, it was clear this wasn’t just a touch-up… it was a full refresh worthy of a Space Ranger upgrade.

Fast forward to today, and Disney has officially pulled back the curtain. The construction walls are now down, giving guests a full view of the updated entrance, and the new marquee sign is finally in place. The sign brings back the classic “Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin” branding with a bold, illuminated design that ties everything together and anchors the refreshed façade.

Something magical is quietly brewing behind the scenes at Universal Epic Universe, and this time, it is not just spellwork. Universal Orlando has filed a new permit that hints at continued expansion within the upcoming Wizarding World area, specifically tied to the Ministry of Magic section of the park.

The permit, filed by Baker Barrios Architects with construction led by The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, calls for a “pre-engineered metal building” or PEMB. In plain Muggle terms, that means a structure built offsite and assembled quickly onsite, often used for backstage or support facilities. While the permit lists a general Epic Universe address, all signs point to this work happening behind the scenes of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, where construction has already been underway since late last year.

This isn’t the first breadcrumb in Universal’s expansion trail. Back in December, permits tied to a massive 150,000-square-foot project revealed internal code “P905,” now confirmed as the Ministry of Magic land. Around the same time, work also kicked off on a rumored events pavilion near Super Nintendo World. Add in a recently filed and quickly pulled “future attraction” permit, and it is clear Universal is already thinking beyond opening day.

Retaining Wall Rises Higher in New Aerial Look at Piston Peak Construction in Magic Kingdom

Frontierland’s future is getting easier to read from the sky. New aerial photos of Piston Peak National Park from X user bioreconstruct show Disney making major progress on the large retaining wall that will help shape the new water feature winding along the southern edge of the Cars-themed expansion. The site is still very much a giant dirt-and-concrete puzzle, but the latest images make it clear that the outline of this new land is starting to come into focus.

The most eye-catching work right now is happening along the perimeter closest to the Frontierland boardwalk, where the retaining wall continues to stretch across the project site in a long, curving line. In these new views, you can see just how much of that border has now taken shape, especially near the area between Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Haunted Mansion.

The wall appears to be defining the future “calming waterway” Disney has described for the land, while the rest of the site remains a massive graded construction zone waiting for its next layer of work. From above, it is also easy to spot how much room is being prepared for future foundations, ride infrastructure, and the themed terrain that will eventually transform this into Piston Peak National Park.

The photos also show that Disney is still pushing forward near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which makes plenty of sense given the attraction’s expected reopening in the coming weeks. Once this retaining wall work is far enough along, the next big phase will likely be filling and grading the interior space so crews can begin building upward instead of simply carving and containing the land.

Right now, Piston Peak looks more like Radiator Springs met a construction permit, but these aerials show real progress and a clearer sense of how Disney plans to reshape this corner of Magic Kingdom.

Walt Disney World has quietly rolled out a temporary policy requiring guests to verify a valid reservation before boarding buses from Disney Springs to any resort hotel.

Cast Members stationed at the Disney Springs bus loop are now scanning MagicBands or reservation details to confirm you have a legitimate reason to travel. To board, you’ll need one of the following: an active resort stay, a confirmed dining reservation, or a booked recreation experience like a fireworks cruise. No reservation, no ride. It’s as simple as that.

This move comes as crowds swell for the busy Easter season, with Disney aiming to prevent guests from using Disney Springs as a free parking hub while heading elsewhere on property. It’s not the first time we’ve seen this enforcement either. Similar measures were put in place during the New Year’s holiday rush. Not only is Versa a milestone for its storytelling, but it also marks a major achievement for the studio’s technical team. It is the first production completed entirely at Disney Animation’s Vancouver studio, where Pierce has served as Artistic Director since 2022.

To capture the “weightless but grounded” feel of the characters, the animation team worked with Olympic silver medalist ice dancers to choreograph the movements, giving the celestial beings a stunning, gliding fluidity that feels both magical and real.
