Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

A visitor to Walt Disney World is suing Disney for an unfortunate misstep at Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.

In case you are unaware this parade takes place after dark, and once a parade is about to start Disney dims the lights throughout the park so you can truly enjoy the parade.

Michael Amabile claims that while waiting for Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade to begin he tripped over a elevated step on the sidewalk, he is suing Disney for not having enough lights and cast members not warning him over the step up.

His injuries were not disclosed.

What do you think about this lawsuit? Comment below!

Light Up the Night With These Magical Blue Daisy LED Light-up Mouse Ears

Light Up Mouse Ears
Light Up Mouse Ears

Light Up Mouse Ears

What an illuminating Disney Find I’ve found today! These Blue Daisy LED Light-up Mouse Ears from TheLUMiShop are dazzling and great for day or night at the parks!

I really do love having light-up accessories for the nighttime parades and firework shows, but I’ll admit I’m usually underwhelmed by the options available. Mouse ears are definitely always on my list of must have accessories in the park, so light-up ones are great for nighttime shows. These Blue Daisy ears look great with or with out the LED lights turned on, and that means no lugging around a spare pair of ears for after the sun sets. These ears are exclusively designed and handmade in NYC with time, energy, and love poured into each pair by the designer. They have an amazing quality and feature LED fairy lights that are waterproof and generate no heat so they’ll be completely safe. The other great feature is that the batteries not only have a long life of 40 hours, but they are completely replaceable too! That’s great if you’d like to keep using them trip after trip! These light-up Mouse Ears are sure to be the perfect touch for any night going princess! Check them out here!

Would you wear these radiant LED Blue Daisy Mickey Mouse themed ears?

TradNation to be replaced by Alberta Bound at Epcot’s Canada Pavilion

tradnation-f

First we lost Off Kilter from the Mill Stage in Canada Pavilion at Epcot, but then gained the Lumberjack show (which quite frankly, we found entertaining, though I know not everyone agrees). Then we lost the Lumberjack Show and they were replaced by TradNation, a French Canadian musical group.

It appears that Disney is sticking with their plan to keep short-term entertainment lined up on the stage in Epcot’s Canada Pavilion, as TradNation is set to be replaced by Alberta Bound, a group that plays traditional Canadian Folk music, on May 1st of this year.

What do you think of the new musical addition coming to Epcot?

Many of us are longing for Fulton’s Crab House while it undergoes a 6 month long renovation that started this past month. WDW Magic reported today that when it does open after its lengthy closure, estimated for November 2016, that it will be under a new name: Paddlefish.

Some of the new attributes we can look forward to will be new decor, a rooftop lounge and an outdoor bar, all with a modern Yachting theme.

We’re anxiously awaiting the re-opening of one of our favorite seafood restaurants at WDW, how about you?

Top 10 Highest Grossing Disney Live Action Films of All Time

IMG 9681
IMG 9681

IMG_9681

We recently took a look at the huge line-up of fairy tale live action films Disney has coming out over the next few years. Now it’s time to take a look back at what the top 10 highest grossing live action movies from Walt Disney Studios from of all time are!

Cindy

10. Cinderella – The 2015 version of “Cinderella” seems well-deserved of a top 10 spot of Walt Disney Studios film, with incredible story telling, acting, and visuals. It is first film in the upcoming fairy tale live action movie trail. It could very soon though be bumped down to number 11 as “The Jungle Book” made $103.2 million opening weekend, compared to Cinderella’s $67.8 million opening weekend. “Cinderella” grossed $201,151,353

nt

9. National Treasure: Book of Secrets – With the first “National Treasure” film having such a big fan following, it’s no wonder this film makes the top 10, having had much fan excitement and anticipation of the film franchise releasing a sequel. The film grossed $219,964,115

oz

8. Oz The Great and Powerful – Everyone loves the class “Wizard of Oz”, and to see Disney paired with the world of Oz was like a fairy tale lover’s dream come true! The film grossed $234,911,825

potc4

7. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tide’s – Many fans (including myself) flocked to theaters to see this movie, since it had been many years in the waiting to get a fourth “Pirates” movie. I am guessing that when the 5th movie comes out in 2017 it will take a top ten spot as well. The film grossed $241,071,802

Maleficent Poster 3d

6. Maleficent – This movie was a must-see for any Disney fan. This villain is extremely mysterious and intriguing, and it was incredible to learn about a different point of view of Maleficent. Following the success of this film, there’s been much talk about a possible “Cruella” movie. The film made $241,410,378

narnia

5. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe – This is based on a book dear to so many, and a part of most of our childhoods. It was incredible to see the world of Narnia come to life on the big screen! The film grossed $291,710,957

potc1

4. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl – The first “Pirates” film, and the one that started all the Pirates movie craze. This is my personal favorite Pirates movie, definitely worthy of a top 10 spot in my opinion! The film grossed $305,413,918

potc3

3. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End – This was the final film in the initial Pirates trilogy. I remember all of us Pirates fans had to get to theaters opening weekend, eager to see what happened next after the cliffhanger in the second Pirates movie! The film grossed $309,420,425

alice3

2. Alice in Wonderland – The 2010 Tim Burton “Alice” was such a unique, whimsical take on this classic. It was a story we are all familiar with from watching the animated film, but was different enough to feel like a completely new movie. With such great box office numbers, it’s no wonder its sequel “Alice Through the Looking Glass” comes out May 27th. This film grossed $334,191,110

potc2

1. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest – After the success of the first “Pirates” movie took the world by storm, and had three years to build a fan base, the first “Pirates” sequel was highly anticipated. The film’s opening even inspired Imagineers to include animatronics from the film in Pirates of the Caribbean rides at Disney parks. This film grossed a whopping $423,315,812

Having seen all of these fantastic movies, none on this list are surprising! (Also, does anyone else notice that Johnny Depp seem’s to be Walt Disney Studio’s good luck charm?) I anticipate “The Jungle Book” and “The BFG” might end up taking a top 10 spot once they’re released.

What is your favorite film on this list? What do you think is worthy of a top 10 spot?

LegoLand Announces New Solar Energy Project

Legoland solar 1
Legoland solar 1

Legoland solar

LEGOLAND Florida Resort is doing it’s part to help the Environment and in one of those efforts, LEGOLAND Florida and Tampa Electric are partnering on a 2-megawatt solar energy project that will produce electricity — and shade — for visitors at the popular vacation destination, a project announced today as part of an Earth Day commemoration at the resort #BuiltForKids.

Beginning this spring, Tampa Electric will install a canopy of solar panels over the resort’s preferred parking lot, adjacent to the theme park entrance.  When operational later this year, the solar photovoltaic installation is estimated to produce enough electricity to power up to 250 homes annually, while shading more than 600 vehicles. Tampa Electric will own and maintain the solar array, with all power entering TECO’s electrical grid for the benefit of its more than 725,000 customers, including LEGOLAND Florida Resort.

The solar energy project is one of several ongoing environmental initiatives at the site, which includes the iconic theme park, a 5-acre water park and 152-room themed hotel. In order to manage resources in a sustainable and responsible way, the resort has established a “Green Wave” committee to coordinate the efforts of multiple departments. Recent efforts include:

  • Nearly 1 ton of LEGO® brick has been collected on site for recycling. After melting or grinding the toys down to their core material, the plastic is then redistributed to manufacture new products.
  • In the theme park, the 12 electric vehicles at the Ford Junior Driving School attraction are charged entirely with solar power, letting kids take the wheel for a quiet, energy-efficient circuit around a mock road.
  • A 30-kilowatt solar panel array is mounted atop the park’s Imagination Zone venue.  The system supports Tampa Electric’s Renewable Energy program, which lets the company’s customers purchase a portion of their electricity from renewable sources.
  • Resort guests driving electric or hybrid vehicles can now take advantage of a two-car charging station recently installed in front of LEGOLAND Hotel.
  • Under the Citrus Connection Universal Access program, all Model Citizens employed at LEGOLAND Florida Resort can enjoy unlimited, seven-day-a-week rides on the transit agency’s bus routes throughout Polk County, resulting in 22,581 fewer vehicle trips on area roads in 2015.
  • During its first several months of operation in 2015, LEGOLAND Hotel distributed 384 bars of soap to Clean the World. The Florida nonprofit delivers recycled hygiene products donated by the hospitality industry to domestic homeless shelters and developing countries suffering from high death rates due to acute respiratory infection and diarrheal disease.

Last year, the resort’s environmental efforts saved…

  • …48,406.80 kilowatt-hours of energy and an estimated 5,700 gallons of oil by recycling cardboard. That’s enough oil to fill the giant Joker Soaker bucket in LEGOLAND Water Park more than 19 times!
  • …102,500 kwh of energy, 425 trees and 175,000 gallons of water by recycling paper. That’s more than half the water in Build-a-Raft River at LEGOLAND Water Park!  How’s that for refreshing?
  • …7,363.74 kwh of energy by recycling steel.
  • …more than 1,000 cubic yards of landfill space by recycling cardboard, paper and steel.

LEGOLAND Florida Resort conserved enough energy though paper, cardboard and steel recycling efforts in 2015 to power its newest theme park land, Heartlake City, for a year!

According to Miguel Velez, the resort’s waste & environmental supervisor, the many environmental initiatives reflect the philosophies of LEGOLAND parent company Merlin Entertainments, among them a compassionate, caring approach to its businesses and their impacts.

“There’s a set of values that we live by,” Velez said.  “By managing our resources responsibly we are able to show our guests that we care.  Some of those efforts can be seen firsthand, like at Ford Junior Driving School, where we’ve installed solar panels to run the vehicles solely by the power of the sun.”

Today, in commemoration of Earth Day, LEGOLAND Florida Resort will offer several fun activities designed especially for kids. Brick by brick, kids can help Master Model Builders create an Earth Day-themed LEGO mural as well as a large LEGO tree. In addition, several vendors will offer conservation tips and kids can take some of the fun home by picking up a free TECO activity book and colored pencils.

As it has in years past, LEGOLAND Florida Resort has purchased enough renewable energy credits to power the entire 150-acre theme park on TECO’s solar grid for the full operating schedule on Earth Day.

We can all do a little more to help! How do you help “Stay Green”?

Updated Dress Code for Palo Restaurant on Disney Cruise Ships

image 53

image

The fine dining and adult exclusive Palo restaurant aboard all four Disney cruise ships appears to have relaxed their dress code a bit for dinner.

Previously, gentlemen were required to wear a dress shirt with a jacket and/or tie recommended. Guests wearing a t-shirt, polo shirt or Tommy Bahama style shirt would be denied admittance. Palo’s new dress code is stated below:

Dress to Impress

To preserve the elegant ambiance of this restaurant, you are asked to adhere to a dress code when dining at Palo. We recommend dress pants or slacks and a collared shirt for men, and a dress, skirt or pants and a blouse for women. Jeans may also be worn if in good condition (no holes). Please no tank tops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, shorts, hats, cut-offs, torn clothing, t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics, flip-flops or tennis shoes.

Palo is an upscale restaurant that offers exquisite Italian cuisine for an additional fee. Reservations are required and can be made online or onboard the ship.
