Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney Springs moves into a new location

DS

bibbidi-bobbidi-boutique-00

If you were planning on getting a magical makeover for your little prince or princess (did you know that boys can be transformed into Knights?), you may be surprised to know that the Disney Springs Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is no longer inside the World of Disney at Disney Springs. If you plan on having a magical makeover at the salon, you will now find it alongside Once Upon a Toy instead.

DS

The salon moved to the new location, which allowed them a larger makeover area, a new country parlor theme, as well as a new area for photographs of young princesses and knight’s transformations. The salon is located at the rear of the building, and does offer a separate entrance. Package pricing hasn’t changed, and you can still make your reservations by calling 407 939-7895.

The Cinderella’s Castle location for the salon remains the same, with no changes.

The Margaritaville Resort is coming soon to Orlando!

Margaritaville-Resort-Orlando

The Margaritaville Resort will be coming soon to Orlando, and I for one couldn’t be more excited about what they have unveiled so far!

The new property will be in South Orlando along U.S. Highway 192 near Toll Road 429 in Western Osceola County, about 20 minutes from Disney World. They are planning a 175-room Margaritaville hotel, 1,000 Margaritaville-themed vacation homes and 300 timeshare units.

There is approximately 30,000 sq. ft. of function space along with 200,000 sq. ft. of retail space being announced as well as a dining and entertainment district, a 12-acre water park, wellness center, wooded fitness trails and a water taxi system.

They will also offer a three-acre freshwater lagoon that you can swim in which includes natural sand beaches. If that wasn’t enough the lagoon will be surrounded by cabanas and offer water activities, including paddle-boarding, snorkeling and much more.

The first phase should be complete by the end of 2017, I will be first in line!

Pyle was born in Lebanon, Kansas and attended the University of Colorado as an art student. He was working as an illustrator at a clothing store when he noticed that the new Walt Disney Studios was looking to hire animators to come to Hollywood.

He started working for Walt Disney studios in November 1937 as an office boy, until he assisted in Pinocchio (1940), shortly followed by Fantasia (1940) and Bambi (1942).

He left Disney after that.

After serving in the U.S. Army Air Force First Motion Picture Unit in Culver City, he had a successful freelanced career. He donated all personal archives to Indiana University’s Lilly Library.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and fans.

Enjoy Dessert and a Nightcap at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs

Amorette's

Amorette's

Do you enjoy a sweet treat along with a nightcap to wind down at the end of a long day?  If you answered yes then Amorette’s Patisserie, owned and operated by Disney, and located in the Disney Springs Town Center, is the place for you.  Amorette’s means “little loves” and this superior shop certainly puts a lot of love into the design and flavor of their pastries.  The same can be said for the alcoholic, non-alcoholic, hot, and cold drinks offered at this establishment.  Amorette’s Patisserie also offers gluten-free and vegetarian menu options.

20160530_160811

The pastry choices are unique and, depending on your palette, the offerings are absolutely mouth-watering.  For a light, melt-in-your mouth option try the “Dancing with Pavlova.”  This meringue crisp contains a raspberry pate de fruit jelly and chantilly for a delightful combination of flavors.  If you are a chocolate lover, try the “Avant Garde.”  This chocolate mousse is made with chocolate chiffon cake and chocolate crumble offering a rich, yet light, chocolate treat .  For those adventurous types, try the “Sunrise Tokyo Bay.”  This yuzu chiffon cake is made with green tea crumble, yuzu jam, and mandarin creating an amazing burst of tartness and sweetness at the same time.  If you enjoy cheesecake then you must try the “49th and Broadway.”  This version of New York Cheesecake contains lemon curd, blueberries, and chantilly for an incredible mixture of flavor and texture.  The “Reflections in Memphis” offers a combination of peanut butter mousse, banana pate de fruit jelly, chiffon cake, and carmelized bacon pieces for a taste that is reminscent of a visit to Memphis, TN.  Amorette’s calls their strawberry tart “Strawberry Fields of O. C.”  and combines lemon curd with strawberry mousse and basil sugar for a merger of flavors you will want to savor.  Their “Palais Garnier” is a traditional opera cake containing almond cake with coffee buttercream and chocolate ganache.  The “Viennesse Waltz” is a classic sacher torte with chocolate almond financier cake, chantilly, and apricot jam.

Did you know that Key Lime Pie is the official pie for the state of Florida?  Amorette’s Patisserie has appropriately named their key lime tart the “Sunset on Mile Marker 0.”  In case you might be interested, Mile Marker 0 is located at the end of US 1 in Key West, Florida.  This popular landmark signifies the end of US 1, which begins in the upper part of Maine, and is the southernmost point of the United States.  “Sunset on Mile Marker 0” is a key lime tart that is made with chantilly and baked meringue offering a smooth balance to the acidity of the lime.

20160530_160838

If you enjoy an eclair, like I do, then you may want to try one of Amorette’s Patisserie Eclairs.  They offer four types: Pistachio, Lemon Meringue, Raspberry, and Caramel Coffee.  My personal favorite is the Pistachio Eclair made with a lovely pistachio cream and a pastry that is so light and airy that it just melts away in your mouth.  I had the distinct pleasure of having one of the pastry chefs show me how they create the decorative topping for the eclairs.  They begin by painting white chocolate onto a special paper coated with colored cocoa butter.  After the chocolate has cooled and hardened they remove the white chocolate plaque from the paper to be placed on the top of the eclair.  If you have a question, just ask.  The team members were more than happy to explain, and show me, how they make these edible toppings.

Amorette's

You have many options for ordering your nightcap as well.  From beautiful champagnes and sparkling wines, to coffees, hot chocolates, and lovely cold milk, there is something here for everyone.  I absolutely loved the “Iron Horse Fairytale Celebration Cuvee.”  After all what better reason to celebrate a Fairy Tale is there than a visit to Disney World?  If you enjoy coffee, the guests in this establishment, that I spoke with, raved about the quality and flavor of the coffee they were drinking.  There is cold milk, popular amongst the youngsters and those who really just prefer to follow a sweet treat with a glass of cold milk.  I believe that the most popular beverage is going to be, hands-down, the Amorette’s Hot Chocolate Ganache.  This is not your typical hot chocolate.  It is delectable hot chocolate with chantilly and shaved dark chocolate meant to linger over for a time.  You may want to find a table and enjoy your wonderful treats.  If you do not have time to stay, you can place your order and have it delivered to your Disney Resort.

20160530_161906

Are you celebrating something during your visit?  Amorette’s Patisserie has specialty cakes that you can order.  Whether it is Amorette’s 10 layer Signature Cake, Mickey Mouse Cake, Minnie Mouse Cake, or Goofy Cake, you will be thrilled with the finished product.  You can pre-order your cake by calling 407-934-3500 at least 72 hours in advance.  Once your cake is ready, it will be packaged in a beautiful boutique-style Amorette’s signature hat box.  The presentation is quite beautiful.

Which pastry and nightcap will you choose?  Please leave your comments in the box below.  Bon Appetit!

Disney Find- Fabulous Walt & Mickey Poster

Walt & Mickey Poster

Walt & Mickey Poster

Today’s Disney Find is a fabulous Walt & Mickey Poster by FamouStars on Etsy. These photo quality posters feature the beloved image of Walt Disney with our favorite mouse, Mickey with a very vintage feel.

These beautiful high quality photo poster prints come in a variety of sizes from a 5×7 that’s perfect for your desk, to a 2 foot by 3 foot that would pull together an accent wall. The design is a silhouette splashed in a water color style, on a white film strip background. I think it perfectly captures the feeling of Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse together. Many Disney Addicts love the Statues that stand before the castles at the Disney Parks, and this is a great way to bring this feeling home. The Walt & Mickey Poster is made with archival professional ink for colorful, vibrant prints that are water & fade-resistant. They even have a lifetime that lasts up to 98 years in a frame! The Walt & Mickey Poster has a blissful feeling of nostalgia for me, but the artist has a few other Disney Water Color designs available as well.

What do you think of this vintage water color take with this Walt & Mickey Poster?

The Amateurs book cover

Disney Publishing Worldwide (DPW) announced today the release ofthe first book in a new series by the New York Times best-selling author of the Pretty Little Liars series, Sara Shepard. The Amateurs, on sale November 1, 2016, is packed with the twists and turns, steamy romance, and stunning revelations that Sara’s fans have been waiting for. The Amateurs is the first book from DPW’s new Freeform imprint, which was created to coincide with ABC Family’s rename and rebrand to Freeform in January 2016. The new Freeform imprint will focus on young adult and crossover fiction aimed at 14– to 34–year-olds, and it will be dedicated to creating new book properties as well as co-developing content that could span formats from books to television and supporting existing programming on Freeform.

The Amateurs begins five years after high school senior Helena Kelly disappeared from her backyard in Dexby, Connecticut, never to be heard from again. Her family was left without answers—without any idea who killed Helena, or why. Now, eighteen-year-old Seneca Frazier wants to change that. After connecting with Maddy Wright, his friend Brett, and Helena’s sister, Aerin Kelly, on a message board dedicated to solving cold cases, Seneca just might succeed where the police have failed. But Seneca is hiding some dark secrets of her own—secrets that could get in the way of the investigation. And somewhere nearby, the killer is watching . . . ready to do whatever it takes to make sure the truth stays buried.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Tsum Tsum Collection Coming Soon

Force Awakens Tsum Tsum

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Tsum Tsum collection will be next in the popular Tsum Tsum toys! These galactic toys will be landing June 21, 2016!

alice in wonderland tsum tsum

The second series of Alice in Wonderland Tsum Tsums launched this week, with new characters added, and updates to previous ones. I’m especially loving the Caterpillar as a butterfly one. The Force Awakens Tsum Tsum collection will be the third Star Wars series from Tsum Tsum. It will feature Rey with and without the mask, Poe, Finn as a Storm Trooper and not, Kylo Ren, a Storm Trooper, Captain Phasma, and of course BB-8. I love the alternate variants on these, I’m just wishing there was a Kylo with out the mask too! What can I say, I love Kylo Ren! C3p-0 was rather popular on the original Star Wars Tsum Tsum release, so I’m betting BB-8 will roll away quick too. I will definitely be at my local Disney Store at opening, to get my hands on these Tsum Tsums before the First Order captures them all. I haven’t seen if there will be larger versions available, but fingers crossed there will be.

Did you get any of the previous Star Wars Tsum Tsums? Which ones will be your must haves from this newest collection?

New Family Raft Ride coming to Typhoon Lagoon

Typhoon

Exciting news for water park fans! It appears that Disney has filed plans to create a new family water raft ride at one of their water parks, Typhoon Lagoon.

WDW Magic shows photos of the plans and the new proposed area for development, and is planned to be located near to the Crush ‘n’ Gusher attraction on unused land. Since it has been quite some time (about 8 years) since a new attraction has been added to the water park, this is pretty exciting news if it turns out to be true. Disney has not made any announcement yet regarding this project. We’ll keep your posted as soon as they do!

Disney to Add New Luxury Hotel at the Disneyland Resort

It’s very rare for a major expansion to happen at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA, as the surrounding land is very jam-packed and it’s own remaining space quite limited. It seems however Disney has begun plans for a rare Resort addition. In an OC Register article, it was reported that Disney has officially submitted a proposal to build a 700 room, AAA four star diamond hotel, making it the fourth hotel at the Disneyland Resort property.

The proposal was submitted June 7th, shortly after the city of Anaheim implemented a new policy that gives tax incentives to build luxury hotels. Not only would Disney be able to take advantage of this new policy by building a fourth hotel, but Disneyland has been experiencing record attendance numbers, and Star Wars Land will no doubt bring more crowds–the need for another nearby hotel is definitely evident.

The hotel would be built on a portion of what is now one of the main parking lots for the Downtown Disney District. With Downtown Disney parking already bursting at the seams on some days, it will be interesting to see where they might provide additional parking spaces that the hotel will now be occupying.

As of present, Disney does not have a proposed theme for the hotel, but it would be in the hands of Disney Imagineering to design it. It is part of the concept plans that it would include rooftop dining that would have a view of Sleeping Beauty Castle and the nightly fireworks show, and have a nightly average rate of $450. Construction is to begin around 2018, and be completed in 2021.

As of now, the dining and bar offerings at the Disneyland Resort hotels are among my favorites at the whole Resort, and am excited to see what cuisine and atmosphere this new hotel will add to the Anaheim resort.
