sjdnfh409524

Disney Parks Blog Announced that the 2017-2018 Ambassador Team has been announced!

Today, during a celebratory cavalcade down Main Street, U.S.A., cast members Mikey Trujillo and Alexa Garcia were introduced as the 2017-2018 Disneyland Resort Ambassador Team, representing the Resort and its 29,000 cast members.

After a rigorous interview and selection process, Mikey and Alexa were selected to continue the tradition Walt Disney started in 1965 as support for public appearances, interviews and other special requests. The Ambassadors will spend two full years bringing the magic of the Disneyland Resort into the community and beyond as emissaries of goodwill. Also included in their full-time roles, the pair will represent the Resort at a variety of events, such as VoluntEARS activities, cast recognition ceremonies and special promotions, in addition to serving as Disneyland Resort spokespersons and hosting dignitaries and VIPs.

Mikey began his career at the Disneyland Resort in 2012, and is now a Guest Relations Host and VIP Tour Guide. He has served many local charities and organizations as a part of Disney VoluntEARS, including Giving Children Hope and the Orange County Food Bank. He resides in Anaheim, Calif., and enjoys drawing in his spare time.

Alexa began her Disney career in 2009, and is now a Guest Service Specialist at The Walt Disney Travel Company. A graduate of Loyola Marymount University, where she earned her degree in Communications Studies and Studio Arts, Garcia actively volunteered during her college career with many local nonprofits. She lives in Anaheim, Calif., and actively serves with Disney VoluntEARS.

We at Chip and Co. would like to congratulate Mikey & Alexa on receiving this magical honor!

Fall Flavors at the Beaches and Cream Soda Shop

Menu

Menu

When you hear the words “Beaches & Cream” do they bring to mind Fall Flavors?  You are more likely to think sandy beaches, ice cream, and sunny summer days.  The season of Autumn is about to make its appearance.  Lucky for us we can enjoy some flavors of fall year round at the Walt Disney World Resort’s Beaches and Cream Soda Shop.

20160807_154208

Beaches and Cream Soda Shop is located at the Beach Club Resort facing the main pool.  As you walk up to the outdoor check-in desk, you can peruse the full menu posted on the wall near the entrance door.  Reservations are highly recommended due to the popularity of this restaurant.

Look closely at the menu to find the Autumn Flavors amongst the summer fun options.  The entrée I am referring to is the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Bisque.  When I was a child, one of my favorite Autumn meals was a grilled cheese sandwich, with a bowl of tomato soup.   The dessert on the menu, boasting Autumn Flavors, is the Grilled Banana Bread and Peanut Butter.  There is nothing like fresh-made banana bread during the Autumn season.

Bisque

The Grilled Cheese and Tomato Bisque sandwich provides an amazing flavor combination.  If you enjoy a grilled cheese sandwich, then you must try one at Beaches and Cream.  Made with six cheeses, and grilled to perfection, the Beaches and Cream Grilled Cheese Sandwich will have you hooked from the first bite.  The Tomato Bisque is fresh, hot, and creamy.  You may even find yourself tempted to dip your grilled cheese into the bisque.  Just be sure to taste each item separately first to sample the amazing flavors of each on their own.  The portion size is quite adequate.

20160807_163243

If you feel the need for a sweet dessert loaded with fall flavors then you must have the Grilled Banana Bread and Peanut Butter. The combination of banana bread, peanut butter, and caramelized bananas is amazing.

20160807_163323

I recommend you bring a friend with you when you head to Beaches and Cream.  You can easily share the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Bisque.  The cast is more than willing to split the meal and bring it out on two plates and bowls.  I can assure you that if you eat the entire meal yourself you likely will discover you do not have room for dessert.  Alas, this was my dilemma.

Autumn brings with it cooler temperatures and great comfort foods to warm your belly.  When I think of the Autumns of my childhood I remember the smells of Autumn.  From fresh-made banana bread baking in the oven, to homemade soups cooking on the stove, and the smell of crisp leaves when opening the door to head outdoors; Autumn is a joyfully scented and flavorful season.

What flavors do you enjoy during the Autumn season?  Please leave your comments in the box below.

An Exciting Treat with ParkSack Monthly Disney Subscription Boxes!

ParkSack

Today was an exciting day for me. I got to unbox my very first ParkSack.com Disney Monthly subscription box, live! Not only was this my first ParkSack box, it was also my first time doing an unboxing video.

I’m a HUGE fan of monthly subscriptions, they are a ton of fun, and it’s always great to get a surprise in the mail. I’ve been a long time fan of subscriptions like ipsy for makeup, but a Disney themed box is FAR cooler! With ParkSack.com for only $29.99 a month you  receive a magical surprise package from Walt Disney World filled with merchandise & snacks. The Ultimate Cure For Disney Withdrawal. There is also a Universal themed box, a Combo box which gives you a mix of both, and a Snack Sack! We even have a combo code to share with our fans! If you use CHIPCO  during check out, you’ll receive 25% off your first box! That’s an amazing savings.

Every single item is 100% authentic merchandise. You could receive pretty much anything from the parks such as pins, soft toys, candy, snacks, kitchenware, phone cases, mugs, and so much more! It’s the perfect way to get that little bit of Disney in your life no matter where you are.

I had no idea what to expect inside my box, and that made it all the more enticing. When I opened my box, I could see it was lovingly packed with tissue paper, a letter and a park map and park brochure. I love Disney maps, so that alone was the perfect start to the opening.

ParkSack Popcorn

Once I dove in I discovered delicious Main Street Popcorn Company Popcorn! It was Churro flavored, which I’ve never actually tried before. As soon as my son saw it though, we had our first taste of the delicious cinnamon popcorn!

ParkSack Antenna Topper

The next surprise was this super adorable Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar antenna topper! I collect antenna toppers, so getting a new one to trade out made me a happy Disney gal. It even has a little bite mark on the ear exposing the yummy vanilla ice cream that’s within!

ParkSack Coaster

The next 2 goodies were wrapped in the special Disney wrapping for fragile items, so I knew there was going to be something special. The first item was a Space Mountain coaster, featuring a gorgeous stylized artwork. This is a newer design style Disney has been using in recent years for Kitchen and Beverage items at the parks, and I love it.

ParkSack Dumbo Mug

The Star of the show was the last item I opened. A very cutesy Dumbo mug! I have coffee in a Disney mug every morning, and surprisingly enough I don’t have a Dumbo mug yet. I love the extra detailing on this mug. The inside of the mug is a beautiful pastel yellow, and dancing elephant shield you can see as you sip.

Cannoli Cupcake From Gelato Kiosk at Epcot’s Italy Pavillion

CC

CC

Ciao to the Cannoli Cupcake at Epcot’s Italy Gelato Kiosk.  This sweet treat offers a multitude of flavors in a cup.  If you are looking for something new and fun to try while strolling around the World Showcase at Epcot, the Cannoli Cupcake is a great choice.

Let’s start from the top.  The Cannoli Cupcake consists of 4 layers.  The very top is a mini cannoli filled with sweet ricotta and chocolate chips, drizzled with chocolate and sprinkled with powdered sugar.  Beneath the mini cannoli is the swirled ricotta icing topped with candied cherries and pineapples, then drizzled with chocolate.  The icing tops the vanilla bean cupcake.  I must note here that I am not typcially a fan of cupcakes. However, this cupcake was not too sweet and the cupcake itself was rather dense as opposed to your typical crumbly cupcake.  I found it to be a bit dry until I realized that underneath the cupcake, the bottom layer was a sweet ricotta with chocolate chips.  When I combined the dryness of the cupcake, with the ricotta and chocolate chips, it was quite pleasing to the palette.

The Cannoli Cupcake can be found at the Gelato Kiosk, on the right, as you are walking past the Italy Pavillion towards Germany.  This non-descript location blends into the background and you can easily walk right by without realizing you have passed it.  While the Tiramisu and the Cannoli do count as a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan, the Cannoli Cupcake, unfortunately, does not.  If you are not on the Dining Plan, or are just looking for a more substantial snack, then the Cannoli Cupcake will certainly satisfy.  The Cannoli Cupcake comes in a clear cup, thus making it easy to continue on your way around the World Showcase while enjoying your sweet treat.  Just remember to grab a spoon.

What do you think of the new Cannoli Cupcake?  Please leave your comments in the box below.

Star Wars Rogue One Toys Revealed by Fan-Made Animated Shorts

Rogue One Toys

Today an incredible team of Star Wars super-fans revealed the new toy line for the highly anticipated “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”. They revealed the Rogue One Toys via a series of fan-made animated shorts launching on the Star Wars YouTube channel.

As part of a competition in collaboration with creative network Tongal, a team was assembled to write, direct and produce original, fan-made stop-motion shorts starring key toys from the new line to kick off a global UGC contest that asks fans to share their own “Rogue Stories.”

Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media said:
“These fan-created shorts are a tribute to the incredible content that the Star Wars community posts online every day. The Go Rogue campaign was designed with Star Wars fans in mind – we want them to be front and center in the run up to ‘Rogue One’ by imagining and creating their own Rogue Stories.”

Many fans across the globe react to Star Wars news breaks, by sharing their own videos online. According to new research conducted, fans posted over 838,000 pieces of Star Wars-related content on YouTube in the past year alone. That’s more than 2,296 per day and nearly 96 per hour. Star Wars fan content is also very popular, with over 16.3 billion views in the last year. That’s the same as if  everyone in the world saw at least two fan-created videos!

The contest will kick off September 30, and fans are invited to share their own short stories or skits set in a galaxy far, far away…

Contest Details:

Winning entries from around the globe will be chosen by a panel including “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” director Gareth Edwards. Beginning September 30, teen and adult fans can enter the Go Rogue contest on StarWars.com/GoRogue. In addition to the global contest on starwars.com, in the U.S. and parts of Canada, kids 8-12 can participate on Disney.com/MyRogueStory. Winners will be invited to Lucasfilm in San Francisco to attend a screening of “Rogue One,” and see their short story on the big screen.

The new Rogue One toys will be showcased for the first time in the fan-created shorts that launch today on the Star Wars YouTube Channel. New installments will roll out through September.

The team was led by James DeJulio at Tongal, and the series was written by Kevin Ulrich and brought to life by stop-motion animators and directors Dan MacKenzie and Tucker Barrie. The stories follow the adventures of “Rogue One” toys from Hasbro, LEGO, FUNKO, JAKKS Pacific, Mattel and Disney Store as they try to track down the building instructions to the LEGO Star Wars Death Star set which have been misplaced by the Empire.

James DeJulio, co-founder of Tongal says:
“I’ve been a Star Wars fan my whole life so this is a dream project. It’s been amazing to see what an inspiration Star Wars has been to so many members of our creative community, whether that’s coming up with their own Star Wars storylines, or playing out scenes with Star Wars toys at home with their kids. I’m excited to share this first ‘Rogue Story’ with the world and hope it inspires other fans to share theirs.”

Fans can pre-order a handful of select items seen in the “Rogue Stories” beginning September 2 at mass retailers, Disney Store locations and disneystore.com. The full range of new “Rogue One” and Star Wars products will be available globally starting on
September 30.
