Celebrate the Lunar New Year at Disney California Adventure Park

The Lunar New Year Celebration at Disney California Adventure Park has been expanded to 17 days in 2017 and will take place from January 20 to February 5. Festivities include delicious food, live musical performances along with fun-filled activities and entertainment that signal the start of the new year. Special limited-time merchandise will be available and Disney characters will be dressed in their Lunar New Year best.

Entertainment, Day and Night
You won’t want to miss the brand-new nighttime water show, Hurry Home – Lunar New Year Celebration, featuring Mulan and Mushu. This charming story of a Little Lantern on its journey home to join its Lantern family in celebrating Lunar New Year features animated appearances by Mulan and Mushu in “dream sequences” inspired by traditional Chinese paper cut-out style animation and a score highlighted by an original arrangement of the music created for the Grand Opening of Shanghai Disney Resort by Academy Award-winning composer Tan Dun (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”).

The six-minute show will take place before “World of Color” each night. Towering fountains, dazzling lights and a moving score come together across Paradise Bay to tell a story of family and friendship.

Guests of all ages will enjoy an impressive array of authentic musicians and performers who’ll be at different venues throughout the day. And be on the lookout for Mulan, Mushu, Mickey, Minnie and Chip ‘n Dale, all dressed in their best and ready to take part in the fun.

A Bounty of Asian Cuisine
Take time to sample a variety of tastes from different Asian cultures. Specialty treats include food, beverages and sweets from China, Korea and Vietnam.

Special Décor and Gift Shopping
During this annual event, you’ll find portions of the park decked out with festive decorations in special colors chosen just for this year. Stroll beneath hundreds of ornamental lanterns and visit the New Year’s Wishing Wall, where you’re invited to add your own message for the coming year.

Are new security changes coming to Walt Disney World?

A little mouse told me that there are going to be a some changes to how we enter the Disney World theme parks in the coming months.

As you can see in the photo above Disney Security personnel were training on new metal detectors in the Magic Kingdom. Like Universal Studios ALL guests will have to go through the new metal detectors in the coming months.

To alleviate long lines Disney is going to be installing metal detectors at the Transportation and Ticket Center for guests coming from other parks, who used Disney Parking, or for those staying in a non Disney hotel. You will go through the metal detectors before you get on the Express Monorail or take the Ferry to the Magic Kingdom.

Also we have heard that Disney will be installing luggage scanners at the Disney World Resorts but that might take a little longer than the theme parks. Guest would send their luggage through scanners before they can begin the check in process.

When we were in Disneyland Paris earlier this year they already do this and it took no time to get into the resort with our luggage.

Where to Meet Santa Claus at Walt Disney World Resort

Christmas is right around the corner and we have all the locations where Santa can be found at Walt Disney World Resort before the big day.

Magic Kingdom

Santa Claus is greeting Magic Kingdom guests at Candy Cane Garden adjacent to City Hall in Town Square Courtyard. According to the app he will appear at 10am, 1pm, 2:15pm and 3:45 for approximately 55 minutes. He’ll also be on hand during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and will wish guests a “Merry Christmas!” from his sleigh during Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.

Hollywood Studios

Santa is meeting with guests for the first time ever at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this year. He is located inside “Once Upon a Time” on Sunset Boulevard daily beginning at 10:00am until December 24th. He returns to the North Pole on Christmas morning, at which time Santa Goofy will take over until December 31st.

Epcot

Santa and Mrs. Claus can be found at the American Adventure pavilion in World Showcase until December 24th. Daily meet & greet times are at 1:30pm, 3:30pm, 5:30pm and 7:30pm for approximately 70 minutes.

Disney Springs

Visit with Santa Claus at Santa’s Chalet across from Ghirardelli Ice Cream and Chocolate Shop between noon and 10:00pm through December 24th. Guests will receive a pager upon check in at the podium. Once you receive a message from Santa’s helpers, simply return to the podium within 10 minutes to take your place in line. Santa Goofy will be available in place of Santa from December 25 – December 30.

Santa Claus has also been known to visit most resort hotel lobbies between 5pm and 9pm on Christmas Eve before returning to the North Pole.

Santa Goofy

Santa Goofy can be found at Minnie’s Holiday Dine during dinner at Hollywood & Vine, located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. He will also be “Once Upon a Time” at Hollywood Studios from December 25 – 31, 2016 and at Santa’s Chalet in Disney Springs from December 25 – 30, 2016.

Gap Launches First Disney x Gap Limited Capsule Collection

Disney characters come to life in Gap’s originally designed special collection that launched December 12th. Gap’s first limited edition capsule collection is part of their ongoing product collaboration with Disney. The Disney x Gap Limited Capsule Collection features Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.

The new collection celebrates love, imagination and wonder with an assortment of apparel and accessories for adults, kids, toddler and baby. The first collection is inspired by the iconic characters Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. This collection will be followed by a Dumbo collection on December 26th and other popular Disney characters throughout 2017. I am personally hoping for a Lilo and Stitch collection!

The prices range from $5.00 for socks, $16.95 for baby bodysuits, $24.95 for graphic tees, $39.95 for dresses, $44.95 for sweaters and $59.95 for jackets. Apparel and Accessories for Women’s, Men’s, Kids, Toddler and Baby are now available on www.gap.com and GAP stores globally.

Special Holiday Menu Offered at Carthay Circle Restaurant

A special holiday menu is available at Carthay Circle Restaurant at Disney California Adventure park from December 2 – January 7, 2017. The signature restaurant at Disneyland Resort will offer seasonal dishes in addition to favorites such as the Carthay Signature Fried Biscuits, Wagyu Beef & Truffle Ravioli and Fire Cracker Duck Wings.

On both the lunch and dinner menus, the new Chili Relleno “Open Face” with crispy duck confit, butternut squash and prickly pear vinaigrette is a flavorful starter. Also the Chilled “Del Pacifico” Shrimp on Hot Gorditas with avocado and mango-habanero vinaigrette. Or the Roasted Parsnip-Chestnut Soup.

The guest-favorite king salmon is served with coconut red rice and a mint and golden bell pepper miso lime broth. And for dinner, there’s a Crispy Buttermilk Fried Quail with cranberry bean salad, kale-pecan pesto and a blood orange sauce. Leg of lamb and holiday prime rib round out the savory seasonal menu.

Be sure to save room for dessert…especially the Valrhona Chocolate Peppermint Mousse Crunch, Holiday Ginger Caramel Monkey Bread or a Vanilla Custard Tart with Cranberry Compote.

What Time is It? It’s Disney Time with A Disney Princess Clock!

It’s time to be a Princess! Or at least pretend you are. This Disney Princess Clock by LetterThings on Etsy is an adorable way to tell time with a Disney flare.

This Disney-inspired clock honors the Disney princesses by suggesting what you can do each hour to be just like them. Each hour has a cute phrase inspired by one of our favorite Disney Girls. Some suggestions might be easier than others, I think a short nap might be easier than saving China or practicing Archery haha! The nice thing is, as a princess you get to decide what suggestions to choose, or just enjoy them for the amusement they bring. Garden Party Returning to The Grand Floridian

On Saturday, December 17, from 7 p.m.-10 p.m, The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is once again offering a wonderful evening of relaxation for guests.

According to Orlando Theme Park News, The Garden Party is returning at the Mary Poppins Garden located outside 1900 Park Fare for the special event. At this special event, guests will be able to enjoy live music, and will have the option of purchasing special cocktails. Tickets and/or Reservations are not needed, and all guests are invited to attend, not just guests of the Grand Floridian.

Sanaa Offering new Fast-Casual Breakfast

On the heels of ABC Commissary offering a new Fast Casual Dinner menu at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we hear now that Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is offering new breakfast options for guests as well.

Disney made the announcement today with the following description of the new offering:

Kuamsha means “awakening” in Swahili, and what better way to “awaken” than with a delicious breakfast at Sanaa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. A new casual quick service dining experience is available from 7 to 10 a.m., where guests can get made-to-order breakfast while taking in a view of the sweeping savannah.

Offerings include the Boere Breakfast, which features two eggs any style, tomato chutney, Tanzanian hash browns, bacon, Boerewors sausage and a Johnny Cake. The Safari Waffle is topped with seasonal berries and Chai whipped cream. Vegans will love the Fruit Sosatie, with quinoa and dried fruit salad, a hearty breakfast with delicate flavors. Other entrees include a Sunrise Sandwich and kids options. You can also get a press pot of coffee as well as drip coffee, juices and milk.

Once you place your order, you will be given a number to take back to your table where a Cast member will deliver your food once it is ready.

There are also great Grab ‘n’ Go selections as well. Yogurt parfait, fruit plate, boerewors sausage and egg bobotie pie, banana bread with house-made African chocolate-hazelnut spread, African breakfast cereal, assorted pastries and whole fruits.

Yesterday we did some resort hopping at the Monorail resorts at Walt Disney World to check out the Christmas Decorations. The Contemporary & Grand Floridian were by the best places to spread the holiday cheer as they both smell wonderful and have some beautiful gingerbread displays you won’t want to miss.
