New Dining Package at Hollywood Studios Offers VIP Seating For Both Music of Pixar Live! and Fantasmic!

Pixar Live

Pixar Live

Hollywood Studio’s  is once again expanding its dining offerings with two new packages that provide guests with reserved seating for the hotly anticipated The Music of Pixar Live! concert which will begin wowing audiences on May 26th.

There are two packages available.  The first is dubbed The Music of Pixar Live! and Fantasmic! Dining package which includes VIP seating for both shows. In addition there is also the standard The Music of Pixar Live! Dining Package which includes tickets to the concert but not Fantasmic!  We hope you are as excited as we are about these new packages.  Here’s the rundown on both.

Minnie Seasonal Dine

The Music of Pixar Live and Fantasmic! Dining Package: Those dining under this package are able to enjoy one appetizer, entree and dessert (or one full buffet) along with a non-alcoholic beverage and a guaranteed seat for The Music of Pixar Live! and Fantasmic! for shows held on the same day.  The restaurants participating in this offer are as follows:

Hollywood & Vine

  • Breakfast – $44 per adult and $28 per child
  • Lunch – $57 per adult and $35 per child
  • Dinner – $62 per adult and $38 per child

Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano

  • Lunch & Dinner – $50 per adult and $21 per child

The Hollywood Brown Derby

  • Lunch & Dinner – $70 per adult and $25 per child

The prices listed above do not included taxes and gratuities. The offer is also available to book under the Disney Dining Plan and costs only 1 Table Service entitlement (or 2 for Hollywood Brown Derby).  Talk about a bargain!

For those interested in making a booking, the package is NOT available to reserve via My Disney Experience as it is considered a special dining event. Instead guests should call 407.WDW.DINE to make your reservation.

This dining plan is a little different than the ones you may have booked in the past where you have your meal first, get a voucher at the end of your meal for seating and then attend the performance(s).  With this package it is possible that one of the shows may be before your dining reservation.  If this is the case,  guests are advised to report directly to Theater of the Stars for the Pixar performance.  There will be a kiosk there where you check-in and get your ticket for this performance only.  Then at the end of your meal you’ll receive the second voucher for Fantasmic!

Hollywood Brown Derby

The Music of Pixar Live! Dining Package –  Similar to the package outlined above, guests are able to take their pick from three Hollywood Studios eateries, receive a meal with an appetizer, entree and dessert (or one full buffet) along with a non-alcoholic beverage and one guaranteed seat for The Music of Pixar Live! held on the same day. Here’s a rundown of participating restaurants:

Hollywood & Vine

  • Breakfast – $39 per adult and $25 per child
  • Lunch – $52 per adult and $32 per child
  • Dinner – $57 per adult and $35 per child

Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano

  • Lunch & Dinner – $45 per adult and $18 per child

The Hollywood Brown Derby

  • Lunch & Dinner – $65 per adult and $22 per child

The prices listed above do not include taxes or gratuities.  For those on the Disney Dining Plan, this experience will set you back 1 Table Service Credit (or two for Hollywood Brown Derby). Booking for this dining package CAN be made online via My Disney Experience.

Those interested in booking either package should note that reservations ARE CURRENTLY open.  I was able to book a spot today for the first week in June.  But you should remember that the package doesn’t start until The Music of Pixar Live! officially opens on May 26, 2017.  You should also know that even at this early stage availability is limited.  So you may want to make your booking straight away!

Concept art for new Restaurant to replace Portobello Country Italian Trattoria in Disney Springs

Concept art for new Restaurant to replace Portobello Country Italian Trattoria in Disney Springs

Levy Restaurants, a Chicago-based restaurant company which operates more than 100 food-service locations in the United States and Canada, is excited to announce the development of a new, Italian restaurant concept at Disney Springs. James Beard award-winner and Top Chef Master, Tony Mantuano, is leading the development of the restaurant, which will replace the space at Disney Springs currently occupied by Portobello Country Italian Trattoria.

The new restaurant’s menu will feature dishes inspired by Chef Tony’s adventures across the many regions of Italy.

In order to accommodate the large-scale renovations, Portobello closed its doors April 24 with plans for the new concept to reopen in early Fall 2017.

“We’ve been grateful to serve our loyal guests at Portobello for the last seven years,” said Andy Lansing, President and CEO of Levy Restaurants. “We look forward to welcoming our guests back to the location early this fall when we unveil a new concept at Disney Springs.”

The Matterhorn Bobsleds Return to Disneyland And Now Offers FastPass

Matterhorn Bobsleds Sign

Matterhorn Bobsleds Sign

The Matterhorn Bobsleds are back in action at Disneyland. The return of this beloved ride was earlier than scheduled and came with an extra perk…it now offers Fastpass!

Fastpass for the Matterhorn Bobsleds will allow guests to receive a paper ticket with a printed return time to ride the first ever tubular steel roller coaster. Now that the bobsleds have returned to the slopes, there are a total of 16 attractions across the two Disneyland parks that offer Fastpass.

Matterhorn FastPass Kiosk

Currently the Fastpass kiosk for The Matterhorn is a temporary structure set up across from the entrance of the attraction. The permanent FastPass kiosk location is being completed nearby, behind a construction fence.

Later this year Disneyland will be rolling out MaxPass which will eliminate the need for guests to secure a paper ticket. Park guests will instead be able to schedule a return time from their Smart phone. This unfortunately won’t be complimentary but cost an additional $10 per admission ticket per day. There still has not been a date given for when MaxPass will be available to park guests.

Ever since it opened in 1959, The Matterhorn Bobsleds have maintained its popularity and long wait times. The new Fastpass option should give Disneyland park guests some welcome relief.

Enchanting Belle’s Golden Tree Necklace Replica

Belle's Golden Tree Necklace

One of my favorite parts of the Live Action Beauty and the Beast movie, was all the extra wardrobe details. I loved all of the jewelry pieces, as well as intricate designs in the clothing. Belle’s Golden Tree Necklace like this replica from DaniqueJewelry was truly one of my favorite pieces.

The organic tree pendant necklace that Emma Watson wears was breathtaking, and made to look like a living piece of jewelry. This replica would not only be an amazing piece for a DisneyBound or Cosplay of Belle, but could also be a beautiful piece of every day jewelry. You can get this pendant in Gold like Emma wears, or Silver if you wanted to have a twist. The designer also offers a variety of chain sizes from a 15 inch, to an extra long 22 inch, so you can style this necklace anyway you like.

Are you as enchanted by this handmade replica of Belle’s Golden Tree Necklace from the live action film as I am?

Hundreds of Haitian Disney Employees Could Lose Protective Status and Have to Leave U.S.

Cinderella Castle

Cinderella Castle

Approximately 500 Haitian Walt Disney World employees could be losing their protective status after the latest Trump administration recommendation was released from the federal immigration agency. This temporary protection is currently extended to over 50,000 Haitians living in the United States.

In 2010, tens of thousands of Haitians were invited to apply for this temporary status when a massive earthquake struck Haiti. This invitation has been extended multiple times for different national crises including Hurricane Matthew, a cholera epidemic, and political turmoil.

Both Disney and union officials from Unite Here, which represents many of Disney’s workers, are asking for the extension of this protection for the Haitian people.

The Walt Disney Co. gave a statement saying that “given the current situation in Haiti we support efforts to extend the Temporary Protected Status for Haitian nationals. The more than 500 cast members who are currently part of this program have been and are an important part of our Walt Disney World workforce in Central Florida.”

The many supporters of the protective status extension are concerned for the well being of the 50,000 Haitians currently living in the United States and also for the families still living in Haiti who rely on the income coming from their family living here.

ESPN Announces More Layoffs

ESPN Announces More Layoffs

Sports giant ESPN has announced the layoff of 100 employees today. The struggling sports network is owned by The Walt Disney Company and the Hearst Corporation. Over the last several years the network has lost more than 10 million subscribers, while the cost of broadcasting major sports has continued to rise. ESPN has made the decision to focus on their digital presence moving forward. This shift will cut jobs for the on air personalities at ESPN, many of which are well known.

ESPN President John Skipper released this statement, “Today, we are again focused on a strategic vision that will propel our vast array of networks and services forward …Dynamic change demands an increased focus on versatility and value, and as a result, we have been engaged in the challenging process of determining the talent—anchors, analysts, reporters, writers and those who handle play-by-play—necessary to meet those demands.”

What do you think of ESPN shifting their focus to a more digital presence?
