Planet Hollywood and Paddlefish Fall Behind Schedule…Expected to Open in January

Paddlefish

planet-hollywood-disney-springs

Guests looking forward to a dining experience at two highly anticipated Disney Springs restaurants will have to wait a little bit longer. Both Planet Hollywood Observatory and Paddlefish have run into unexpected delays that continue to push back their originally anticipated opening dates of fall 2016.

According to the Planet Hollywood website, reservations at the Disney Springs location are currently being accepted for dates starting January 16, 2017. The website previously listed an available date of December 15 followed by a date of January 3. Guests have been notified that any reservations prior to January 16 have been cancelled.

Paddlefish, the seafood-centric restaurant formerly known as Fulton’s Crab House, is behind schedule too. According to @Paddlefish on Twitter, the restaurant’s exterior signage just went up this week and that a January opening date is expected.

Both Planet Hollywood Observatory and Paddlefish held job fairs this past week where they are still hiring for numerous positions.

Let’s hope that the opening dates truly are “coming soon” and there will be no further delays. In the meantime, reservations at other Disney Springs restaurants can be made online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE.

Star Wars R2-D2 Power Station

Top 5 Disney World First Timer “Must Do’s”

dsc00520-1

So – you’re headed to Walt Disney World For the FIRST TIME – you’re excited, and can’t wait to do it ALL. Then you start doing some research, and you realize….doing it ALL might take a bit longer than you thought…so…what now? You want to be realistic and don’t want to overplan or overpack your days full of stuff, but you also want to make sure you’re getting a true “Disney World experience”. Well, fear not! I’ve got the perfect thing for you, a list of Top 5 Disney World First Timer “Must Do’s”

Hug A Mouse: No matter your age, or if you’re traveling with or without little ones, you should definitely make sure you meet up with some characters while you’re at Walt Disney World. The excitement of standing in line and getting closer and closer to your favorite character – and then the thrill of getting to greet them, give them a hug, get an autograph, and take a selfie – it’s something that’s fun for everyone, and with the Official Disney World App, you will be able to figure out wait times and plan accordingly

A Character Meal: Not only is it fun meeting characters, but you can take it even further and DINE with them, too! Character meals are a staple of a great WDW experience – and if you’ve never been to one – here’s how they work. You sit down to eat, and during your meal, the characters (usually 4 of them or so) circulate the dining room and stop at your table for autographs, hugs, and photo ops. It’s the perfect way to get to meet multiple characters in one place, and to enjoy some amazing Disney food at the same time! There are plenty to choose from – check out the list here

Stay For The Fireworks: After a long day at the Parks, you probably just want to head back to your WDW Resort for dinner and bed – and while I fully support that plan, I do recommend you stay in the Park for the nightly fireworks at least once during your vacation. Why? Well – these aren’t your typical little 4th of July fireworks – they are MUCH more spectacular! While each Park has their own nightly show, I personally prefer Magic Kingdom’s Wishes – the lights, fireworks, music – it’s a great experience that is worth staying up late for

Ride The “Classics”: This year the Magic Kingdom is celebrating its 45th anniversary, and while a lot has changed since that day back in October of 1971, there are some rides that have stood the test of time – operating since opening day, and still thriving. Jungle Cruise, Mad Tea Party, Peter Pan’s Flight, The Haunted Mansion, And the Hall of Presidents (just to name a few!). I highly recommend you check these out – these are the cornerstones of Disney World – the rides that Walt himself helped plan and create – which makes them pretty unique!

Try Some New Eats: One of the things that WDW is known for is it’s AMAZING food – this is no standard theme park when it comes to dining – they have well over 100 different places to eat – and serve everything – breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, drinks and EVERYTHING in between. They have a variety of styles of cuisine too – American, seafood, Chinese, Moroccan, German – basically anything you can think of, they have it. And not only that, but they are well versed in dealing with dietary restrictions and allergies, so if there is something you can’t eat, they will work with you to ensure your needs are met

There are a LOT of things to do at Walt Disney World – and the impulse on your first trip will be to do it ALL – but I know (from experience!) that you will be much happier and have a lot more fun if you take it slow and really savor the experience – and utilize my tips, of course!

Pro Bowlers to Face Off in AFC vs. NFC Skills Challenge at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports

Disney World

Disney World

The Pro Bowl Skills Showdown, pitting AFC and NFC All-Stars against each other in unique competitions, will air during Pro Bowl Week on Thursday, January 26 at 7:00 PM ET on ESPN, the NFL announced Dec. 12.

The Skills Showdown is a part of the re-imagined Pro Bowl Week, culminating in the 2017 Pro Bowl, which features a return to the traditional AFC vs. NFC format following three years using a revised, “unconferenced” structure.

The 2017 Pro Bowl Legends Captains, Jerome Bettis and Ray Lewis of the AFC and Tony Gonzalez and Charles Woodson of the NFC, will lead their respective squads. Each team in the Skills Showdown will feature a mix of quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, linemen, linebackers, and defensive backs.

Taking place at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., competitions will include:

  • Epic Pro Bowl Dodgeball: Pro Bowlers will compete in a game of dodgeball.
  • Power Relay Challenge: Four team members will compete in a timed relay race.
  • Precision Passing: Two players on each team will battle it out, trying to hit moving targets of varying size and distance.
  • Best Hands: Quarterback and wide receiver duos from each team will show off their skills, connecting on as many pass attempts as possible before time runs out.

The Pro Bowl rosters are determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group’s vote counts one-third toward determining the 88 All-Star players who will be selected to the Pro Bowl. The NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players to determine its all-star teams. It was the first professional sports league to offer online all-star voting in 1995.

The Pro Bowl players will be announced on Tuesday, December 20 in a live primetime special on NFL Network. NFL players and coaches will cast their votes on Friday, December 16.

Fan voting for the 2017 Pro Bowl will end tomorrow, Tuesday, December 13. Fans can vote online and on web-enabled mobile phones at www.NFL.com/probowlvote. Fans may also vote for who they want to see on the 2017 Pro Bowl roster via social media by using #ProBowlVote and the player’s first and last name on Twitter and Instagram. On Facebook, fans may comment on any official Pro Bowl Vote post by the NFL or a club. See official rules on how to vote at www.NFL.com/probowlvoterules.com.

The 2017 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, January 29, 2017 and simulcast live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes from Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Fans may visit  NFL.com/ProBowlOnSale to purchase game tickets.

he Millennium Falcon is a pretty versatile ship. It comes equipped with all manner of things to get you through a myriad of situations, but sometimes those things need fixing. The hyperdrive will eventually breakdown again, and you won’t always have R2 there to fix it for you. You’ll need some tools of your own!

The Star Wars Millennium Falcon Multi-Tool Kit comes equipped with four hex keys, two screwdrivers (one flat-head, one philipps), and an adjustable wrench built into the ship’s helm. The hex keys store away nicely in the back underside of the ship which is sealed shut with the power of magnets. Screwdrivers tuck away in the sides, and the wrench is adjusted by a wheel located in the center of the Falcon.

Seriously how nifty is this Star Wars Millennium Falcon Multi-Tool Kit?
