How long is Disney keeping their Christmas Decorations up for?

wdw

wdw

Probably one of the most asked questions of the Christmas Season is how long is Disney keeping the Christmas decorations around for?

Typically Disney will start taking down the holiday decorations the first week of January. In a surprise move Disney is keeping some of their parks decorated a little longer this year!

Here is a current list of how long you can expect to see the Holiday decorations up at the Disney World theme parks!

  • Hollywood Studios plans on leaving their decorations up just a few more days till January 5th.
  • Animal Kingdom doesn’t really decorate for Christmas that much, but what they do have will remain till January 6th, 2017.
  • Disney Springs will leave their decorations out till January 8th and plans on running the Starbright Holiday Drone Show till the 8th as well!
  • Magic Kingdom will be leaving their Christmas Decorations up till January 11th, 2017!

This is the latest the Magic Kingdom has ever left their decorations up! Great news if you missed out on them before Christmas!

With the Festival of the Arts coming January 13th we heard Epcot has already started breaking down their Christmas decorations.

Man arrested near Disney Springs for battery on an officer and indecent exposure

According to Click Orlando, 20 year old Joseph Murphy was arrested near Disney Springs early New Year’s Day for battery on an officer and indecent exposure.

Murphy was walking on Buena Vista Drive when he was approached by the trooper, when questioned he refused to give his name and according to the report reeked of alcohol.

He was placed in hand restraints and put in the trooper’s patrol car where he was yelling profanities and bashing his head against the partition. When he was taken to the Orange County Jail that is where the story gets interesting.

At the jail he began banging his head on the car window, peeing on the trooper’s patrol cruiser floor, and on the arresting trooper’s pants. He also threw in some choice words about Donald Trump.

He was booked into the jail and charged with battery on an officer, indecent exposure of sexual organs and resisting an officer without violence.

New Rivers of Light Merchandise Could Signal Show’s Debut Soon

Rivers of Light Merchandise

A new light up wand featuring the much anticipated, and delayed new Night time show at Animal Kingdom has surfaced on the Shop Disney Parks app recently! The new Rivers of Light Merchandise could mean the show might finally be debuting soon!

Rivers of Light, a new night time light and water spectacular was originally slated to make it’s debut his past summer. A Jungle Book themed show took it’s place temporarily and fans have been eagerly awaiting the debut of “Rivers of Light” ever since. There is a new opening date of May, but I can’t see starting to release merchandise unless the show will be making it’s way to Animal Kingdom soon though, so here’s hoping!

Do you think the new Rivers of Light Merchandise could mean the start of the new show sooner?

Star Wars Rogue One expected to hit $439 Million at the domestic box office!

SW

SW

According to comScore, they are reporting the box office intake for Disney’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is an estimated $63.6M and will ring in $240M in ticket sales, a great 9% hike over last year’s holiday stretch.
Yesterday most films in the top 11 saw on average a boost over New Year’s Eve of close to 19%, a great day to go to the movies considering most people don’t have to return to work until Tuesday. Today, Monday ticket sales for the top 10 should ease between 10%-15%.

Through the end of today, “Rogue One” is expected to total close to $439M, which is 9.7% ahead of 2008’s “The Dark Knight” ($400M, first cycle domestic $533.3M) and 13% behind last year’s “Jurassic World” ($506.9M, final domestic $652.2M) through 18 days. Worldwide for the Gareth Edwards-directed stand-alone Star Wars prequel stands at $774.9M. When does this movie cross $1 billion? We hear January 13. China opens next weekend. “Force Awakens” ended its run in the Middle Kingdom at $124.1M.

Stateside, “Rogue One” has collected $50M from Imax hubs, earning $6.5M over the four-day weekend from 401 Imax screens, becoming the highest-grossing Imax release of 2016 and the third-fastest ever to that mark after “Force Awakens” and “Jurassic World”. In the end, as the second-highest-grossing pic of 2016 after Disney/Pixar sequel “Finding Dory”, “Rogue One” ($408.164M) beat “Captain America: Civil War” ($408.084M) by $80K, a feat accomplished in 16 days, whereas it took Civil War 140 days.

In order to keep their rides running smoothly and safely, Disneyland often needs to close rides in order to perform maintenance on them, or even to give them a new look. That being said, here is a list of rides and attractions at the Disneyland Resort undergoing refurbishment during January 2017:

General Resort Refurbishments

We hope these closures don’t affect your next Magical vacation to Disneyland!
