One of the traditions I have with my family every summer is picking out new bedding sets for back to school. The Disney Store has lots of great new sets this summer, and I thought this Belle Bedding Collection was perfect for a back to school princess. I love the soft golden toned yellows, contrasting with the delicate lavender accents and silhouettes.

Magic Kingdom’s Hall of Presidents Experiences Delayed Reopening Date

Walt Disney World’s Hall of Presidents is currently experiencing a delayed reopening.

Initially slotted to reopen in late June 2017, it now appears that this building will not be opening to guests until sometime later this summer. If you were planning a Fourth of July visit to The Hall of Presidents, it is unlikely you will be able to experience this particular attraction.

As you wander through Liberty Square, in the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom, you will notice that the entrance to The Hall of Presidents is roped off. There is also a sign indicating that this attraction is being prepared to welcome our new President. Since it is late June 2017, we decided to head over there to inquire about a reopening date .

We spoke with two Cast Members and they indicated that The Hall of Presidents will not be ready to reopen until later this summer. We asked if there was any likelihood that it may open for the Fourth of July and it does not appear that this will be the case. Disney has not released any new information with regards to a deferred reopening date. We cannot speculate on the reasons for the delayed reopening.

This week we continue to bring you more details on the ports of call for the Disney Fantasy 7-night Eastern Caribbean itineraries. I’ve previously talked about Aruba and Curacao , and this week I’m bringing you details on St. Thomas. This Virgin island was once home to actual pirates of the Caribbean but is now a major destination for shopping and outdoor recreation. Take a look at some of the amazing port adventures you and your family can experience on St. Thomas:

Abi Beach Full Day Escape – Experience one of the best beaches in the Caribbean with this port adventure that takes you to a former 18th century plantation. You can spend the day playing, swimming, and sun bathing at the gorgeous Abi Beach. A delicious lunch is also included as you enjoy the pristine sand and turquoise blue water.

Tree Limin’ Extreme Zipline Adventure – Limin is a local word that means “hanging out” and that’s exactly what you’ll be doing high up in the trees on this port adventure. Fly above a rain forest atop St. Peter Mountain as you experience six ziplines and two sky bridges. There’s even a “yo-yo” zipline that can go forwards or backwards which is a unique experience in the Caribbean!

Doubloon Turtle Cove Sail and Snorkel – This port adventure gets you in touch with your inner pirate as you set sail on a doubloon pirate schooner. You’ll head to Turtle Cove off the coast of Buck Island and snorkel with beautiful tropical fish while swimming among incredible coral formations. Keep your eyes peeled as you might just spy some sea turtles swimming by.

“Disney Move Magic” Is the New Amazing Nighttime Entertainment at Hollywood Studios

A few weeks ago Hollywood Studios surprised us all with a brand new nighttime entertainment offering called “Disney Movie Magic“. This amazing experience brings Disney’s most popular movie moments to life using cutting edge projection mapping technology on the iconic Chinese Theater. Guests can experience this 10 minute performance every night before Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular begins.

Chimney sweeps from “Mary Poppins” “step in time” over the rooftops of London. A playful Captain Jack swash-buckles his way across the high seas of “Pirates of the Caribbean.” “Tron: Legacy” Lightcycles speed through The Grid. And Lumiere from “Beauty and the Beast” invites you to be his guest.

These and other cinematic gems that have lit up silver screens around the world play across the facade of the theater in the fast-paced “Disney Movie Magic” – from Disney classics like “Mary Poppins” to contemporary blockbusters such as “Pirates of the Caribbean” and this summer’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”

Set to searchlights painting the skies and a musical score composed and arranged by Michael Patti (Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular, StarBright Holidays), “Disney Movie Magic” puts guests right in the middle of beloved Disney films. All genres are represented including musicals, romance, comedy, classics, fantasy, sci-fi, animation and adventure.

“For generations these films have touched our lives,” said Michael Roddy, Show Director, Disney Parks Live Entertainment. “They represent our childhood, our dreams, our fantasies and our mythology. We have laughed and cried, loved and been thrilled. ‘Disney Movie Magic’ celebrates those films and the films to come.”

“Disney Movie Magic” begins, fittingly, with Walt Disney himself. The red-carpet footage featuring Walt is from the 1964 premiere of “Mary Poppins,” which took place at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

What unspools from there is pure movie magic – from “The Jungle Book” to “Beauty and the Beast,” from “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” to “Cinderella,” from “Swiss Family Robinson” to “The Love Bug.” With the front of the theater a dramatic canvas, decades of movie moments play out across the ten-minute run time of “Disney Movie Magic.”

“Disney Movie Magic” is presented nightly this summer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, in addition to regular performances of “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular.”

Two More Locations Add Mobile Order

Two additional Walt Disney World restaurants will soon be available for Mobile Food and Beverage Ordering. Beginning June 27 guests at Animal Kingdom will be able to use Mobile Order at Restaurantosaurus. This will the fourth restaurant at Animal Kingdom using the Mobile Order technology. Other locations at this park include Satu’li Canteen, Flame Tree Barbecue and Pizzafari.

Following close behind, D-Luxe Burger at Disney Springs will begin offering Mobile Order on July 5. This will be the first location outside of the parks to use Mobile Order.

Mobile Order was first introduced at the Walt Disney World Resort with the opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar. The service debuted with Pandora’s Quick Service location, Satu’li Canteen.

Mobile Order allows guests the convenience of reviewing menus and placing food orders from the convenience of their smart phones. Guests simply access the service through the My Disney Experience app. Once the app is opened, the steps are pretty easy to place your order.

Tap on your character, then scroll to “My Plans” and press the “Order Food” button.
Select “Dining” from the top of the app, select the restaurant you want and press “Order Food.”
Once your order is complete, you pay from the convenience of your phone. Currently, Mobile Order is only accepting Credit and Debit cards. Other forms of payment, including dining plans, would have to be ordered in person.

Upon arrival at the restaurants, guests then open the My Disney Experience app and select “I’m Here, Prepare My Order.” When your food is ready you will receive a notification from the app and you will gather your food from the “Mobile Food Pick up” area.

Disney Guest Files Suit Claiming She Was Injured by Falling Speaker at Swan and Dolphin Resort

A husband and wife from Arizona has filed a law suit against the operator and manager of the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel after the wife was allegedly injured by a speaker.

Sarae and Zuli Steremberg filed a complaint on June 1 with the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida – Orange County against Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide LLC; Audio Visual Services Group Inc. doing business as PSAV Presentation Services; and Julius Santiago alleging negligence.

In the the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on March 8, 2016 Sarae Steremberg was struck by a falling speaker that was installed by its vendor PSAV while walking in a common space around the pool area. As a result Steremberg claims to have suffered significant, permanent and traumatic injuries, and disability. And as a result required surgical procedures and incurred medical expenses. Her husband alleges he suffered loss of services, companionship, conjugal life and protection of his wife.

The plaintiffs are holding Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide LLC, Audio Visual Services Group Inc. and Santiago responsible stating the defendants allegedly failed to warn plaintiff of the existence of the overhead speakers and its imminent danger, and allowed guests to walk along a common pathway without installing barriers to protect guests.

The plaintiffs have requested a trial by jury and are seeking judgment against defendants for compensatory damages, interest, taxable costs and further relief that the court deems just. The defendants are represented by Peter F. Carr Jr. and Mitzi Sommer Carr of Carr Law Firm PA in Orlando.

Imperial Walkers Have Been Spotted Inside Star Wars Land At Hollywood Studios

The All Terrain Armored Transport, or AT-AT walker, is a combat vehicle used by the Imperial ground forces that first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back. Hollywood Studios currently has an AT-AT residing outside of the Star Tours attraction but it looks like two more are on their way to the new Star Wars Land.

The new Star Wars Land “Battle Escape” attraction building is now home to two new AT-AT walkers. You can see them in the inside top right of the building.

Currently the AT-ATs are headless. The last remaining pieces are still outside waiting to be assembled.

Word on the street is that your favorite drinks from your much-missed Pleasure Island haunts would be returning to Disney Springs this summer. With this tweet from Disney Springs, we can now confirm that is absolutely the case!

The drinks will only be available on Thursdays in honor of #ThrowbackThursdays. Four different drinks will be featured and will be offered at #ThrowbackThursday prices.

Dockside Margaritas will rotate through eleven different popular alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks from Pleasure Island. However, the extremely popular “Kungaloosh” that was featured at the Adventure Club will remain in the rotation each week.

Some other popular Pleasure Island throwback drinks we can expect to see are the Techn-o, Bell Bottom, and Thriller that were staples at the old 8-Trax Nightclub; Armadillo Punch from the Neon Armadillo; Punch Line from the Comedy Warehouse; Hoopla form Mannequins; and the Pleasure Punch from Funmeister.

This promotion is scheduled to run from Thursday, June 29 to Thursday, September 28, 2017. The alcoholic drinks will run around $9 plus tax and the non-alcoholic versions will be about $5 plus tax.

Dockside Margaritas is located in the Marketplace District of Disney Springs.

Star Wars Film Concert Series Coming To New York This September

“Star Wars” fans in the New York City area are in for a special treat starting this September as the New York Philharmonic released details of its Film Concert Series this week.

Fans will have an opportunity to hear the scores from “A New Hope” “The Empire Strikes Back” “Return of the Jedi” and “The Force Awakens” played live during the screenings of each film.

Here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store:

The series will take place a David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center starting on September 15th as is being touted as the first-ever life instance of the score being performed alongside the motion pictures.

If you happen to be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort this weekend, stop in at Epcot and grab yourself a a personalized, complimentary Coca-Cola. Coke released their “Share a Coke” campaign again this summer, and will have a kiosk set up from 10:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., where guests in Disney’s Epcot will be able to receive a complimentary can.

Located in the Innoventions West hallway, the kiosk is up for a very limited time, this Saturday and Sunday, June 24th & 25th. The hallway sits just behind Epcot’s Cool Club, where you can try samples of sodas from around the world. If you can’t make it to Epcot this weekend, be sure to pick up one of the Disney themed “Share a Coke” bottles on your next visit to Disney World – available anywhere, on property, bottled Coke products are sold.

Set Sail With Your Favorite “Marvel” and “Star Wars” Heroes Aboard Disney Cruise Line

Set sail on the high seas with your favorite Star Wars and Marvel characters on Disney Cruise Line’s Fantasy.

Aboard Disney’s Fantasy you’ll see Star Wars heroes and Marvel’s superheroes and supervillains, who will fight battles of epic proportions while you cheer them on from the sidelines. You may even be asked to join in if you’re lucky! It’s all part of the new enhancements on the Fantasy, which came out of dry dock last month. During that time the ship added Marvel and Star Wars activity centers.

The force will be with you at sea! Star Wars fans will be able to become part of the action at Command Post, a hidden base where they can train with their favorite Star Wars heroes.

Kids are in for intergalactic fun as they connect to holographic models of the Millennium Falcon, an X-wing starfighter or the Death Star via the interactive, high-tech control hub. Make sure to watch out for the Stormtroopers!!

The fun continues at Marvel Super Hero Academy, kids can learn and perfect their hero skills while battling villains in the Marvel Universe. Gaming and interactive portals help beginners become Avengers.

Fantasy is the newest ship in Disney’s fleet, it also will be hosting Star Wars Day at Sea, which will begin Jan. 6, 2018, and be held on seven-night Caribbean sailings from Port Canaveral, Fla., through April. Star Wars Day at Sea includes encounters with the movie’s characters, an out of this world deck party, and Star Wars themed activities for all ages.

Disney’s Magic will offer a Marvel Day at Sea which will debut this fall and run on New York sailings to the Bahamas and Canada throughout October and November. It will then be offered on Caribbean sailings from Miami beginning on Jan. 7, 2018, through April. Marvel Day at Sea includes an action packed deck party, meet and greets with characters and Marvel activities for fans of all ages.

Disney also offers a day of Frozen fun aboard the Disney Wonder on Alaska sailings through September. Activities aboard include a deck party and encounters with Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf.
