The Jungle Cruise Attraction To Be Re-imagined With Some Help From Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

We reported earlier this month that one of the most recent additions to Disney’s ever increasing list of “live-action” movies slated to be produced is a version of Jungle Cruise which will star none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Jungle Cruise is set to begin filming in Spring of 2018 and will be produced by Dany Garcia who is the co-CEO with “The Rock” of the duo’s company Seven Bucks Entertainment.

However, it looks like their involvement doesn’t stop with the film. Check out this piece posted on The Rock’s Instagram account earlier today:

Grateful SOB to have Walt and Mickey watching over my shoulder as @danygarciaco and I embark on this amazing project. For our big #JungleCruise creative meeting at DISNEY’s highly secure R&D facilities, me and @danygarciaco were escorted into THE VAULT. A legitimate vault where all of Disney’s biggest secrets and plans are kept. Curtains were pulled back for us to reveal the actual drawn up plans that Walt Disney had his brother, Roy Disney take to New York to present to the bankers in 1950 for the potential loan to build what’s now known as Disney Land. Cant imagine what that meeting with bankers was like. Roy: Alright gentlemen, so me and my brother Walt, want to build the greatest multiple theme park attraction in the world. Banker: Oh that seems fun, Mr. Disney. Roy: *smiles in a playful mischievous manner, Oh yes my good man, it will have a few things that are in fact, fun. Well, clearly I don’t know how the hell men were actually talking in the 50’s, but what I do know is being able to star in and produce #JungleCruise is a dream come true. BUT what takes this to the next level, is that we’ll partner with Disney’s brilliant Imagineers to help re-engineer and re-design the #JungleCruise ride in all the Disney theme parks around the world. A very special opportunity for us and our @sevenbucksprod to create an unforgettable and fun EXPERIENCE for families around the world. And as Walt Disney himself would say… it’s magical. The Jungle Cruise is one of Disneyland and Disney World’s much-loved attractions despite its dated appearance. This is due large and in part to the hi-jinks and dead pan humor of the skippers piloting the boats who bring a chuckle to many a Disney visitor and makes it one of the parks busiest attractions. However, it would seem the ride is going to get a bit of a re-think with The Rock and his partner collaborating with Disney Imagineers to re-design the Cruise in conjunction with the movie’s release.

With the opening of Pandora – The World of Avatar less than a month away, we now have our first look at the Na’vi Shaman of Songs. This beautiful character can be spotted inside the Na’vi River Journey attraction.

The Na’vi Shaman of Songs is the most complicated Audio-Animatronic figure ever attempted by Walt Disney Imagineering. It was widely assumed that the shaman first seen in television commercials earlier this year was computer generated, but we have come to learn that this is not the case.

In the Na’vi River Journey, guests sail down a sacred river tucked inside a glowing bioluminescent rainforest filled with glowing plants and alien creatures. The attraction reaches its climax when you encounter the shaman. This character celebrates her deep connection to the life force of Pandora through her music.

Opening May 27, Pandora – The World of Avatar promises to sweep guests away with its detailed surroundings and engaging backstories. The Na’vi Shaman of Songs is one more example of how Disney does thing right.

Rumors of a Fourth “Mountain” Coming to Adventureland

Rumors of a new mountain coming to Adventureland have been floating around lately. Supposedly, Disney officials are looking to Magic Kingdom to bring in a new volcano-themed roller coaster!

Just like most ideas at Disney, it’s actually a revived plan created in the early 2000’s for an attraction called Fire Mountain. This plan was eventually shelved due to the ride system not making it through successful testing. This original idea was for an indoor, volcano themed flying coaster. It apparently made it as far as signing an initial working deal with the company Vekoma to create design and layout ideas.

But now that the movie “Moana“, set in the Polynesian islands, is such a box office smash, Disney might be looking for a new way to incorporate her popularity into the park.

If Disney follows the same line of thinking for Fire Mountain, the new volcano coaster would be located just to the left of the entrance of Pirates of the Caribbean. It would make its home in an undeveloped area next to the back corner of the Jungle Cruise. This is currently where the tracks for the Walt Disney World Railroad lie. Which makes you assume that the railroad would either be re-routed or it could even pass through the volcano in a lave-tube themed tunnel.

Only time will tell if we will see the landscape of the Magic Kingdom change to include its 4th mountain. Would you be excited to see this new addition to the park?

Dream of Being a Galactic Hero with the Night Night Groot Children’s Book

As if Baby Groot wasn’t one of the cutest things ever, Toddler Groot is pretty close. Now our little heroes can soar off on galactic adventures in their dreams, with the most epic good night story ever. “Night Night Groot” is an adorable picture book, that follows Groot and Rocket on a new adventure.

Night Night Groot is written by Brendan Deneen, and is fully illustrated by Cale Atkinson. The story opens on Gamora putting a very sleepy Groot to bed, and recounting their adventures in saving the day. The book is made for pre-k to kindergarten level, and is an easy reader for beginning readers. Although Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy fans, will love this no matter their age.

“It’s been a long day for baby Groot and he’s ready to be tucked in for bed. Just as his eyes start to close, Rocket Raccoon bursts onto the scene! Reports of Walt Disney World Planning To Launch Test Of Driverless Shuttles

According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, Disney is in the late stages of negotiations with at least two different companies to bring driver-less shuttles to Walt Disney World. If this project comes to fruition it would be the highest profile deployment of driver-less cars since Uber and Google began testing their programs. The reported companies that Disney is in talks with include Local Motors, based in Phoenix, and Nvya, based in Paris. It’s unclear if Disney would move forward with both or just one of these companies.

Sources, who asked not to be identified so as not to offend Disney, tell the Times that later this year the company is hoping to kick-off a pilot program with these shuttles. The end goal would be that they would begin transporting guests as early as next year.

The sources also stated that there are no current plans for driverless shuttles to be tested at Disneyland. It is assumed that Disney is making this choice because there are less restrictions on driverless vehicles in Florida than California, who is currently overhauling their regulations.

When asked for a comment about this project Disney did not respond, while Navya and Local Motors both declined to comment.

If this project does indeed come to fruition, the Disney parks seem like the ideal home for testing such cutting-edge technology. When Disneyland opened in 1955, Walt Disney himself dedicated Tomorrowland with these words: “A vista into a world of wondrous ideas, signifying man’s achievements … a step into the future, with predictions of constructive things to come.”

“Electroland” – Electric Music Festival – Coming to Disneyland Paris this Summer

As part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration of Disneyland Paris, Disney has announced the theme park will host “Electroland,” a new Electronic Dance Music Festival (EDM). The festival is scheduled to take place on July 8 beginning a 7:00pm and is billed as a 100% Dance-Electro experience with an exceptional line-up of world renown DJs and producers. The event will be headlined by Steve Aoki, Nervo, Michael Calfan and Richard Orlinski.

The Festival will wow guests with LED screens and projection mapping onto The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride. Festival goers will enjoy exclusive access to all the parks rides and attractions. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased on the Disneyland Paris website.

What’s better than Disney candle melts? A whole variety pack of Disney candle melts! This delicious Disney Inspired Candle Melt Sampler Set by RipleysCreations is hand poured, and full of magical fragrances inspired by Disney attractions, snacks, and characters.

I was recently given the chance to try this delightful sample box, packed full of yummy smelling candle melts, inspired by Disney! The package comes with 11 different candle melts, 3 based on the Haunted Mansion, 5 based on Disney snacks, 2 based on characters, and 1 based on a spell. I was very impressed to find a variety of Haunted Mansion melts, since that is one of my favorite attractions ever, and the very first ride I ever went on in Walt Disney World.

The melts come in three ounce cups, and they were all filled quite a bit. I was able to cut them into 2, to 3 pieces to use in my melt warmer, depending on the strength of fragrance I wanted. When you pull the melts from the cups, you can tell they are a silky soy based wax and the aroma has strength, but isn’t over powering.

I secretly love buttered popcorn Jelly Belly jelly beans, and this melt reminds me soooo much of them, but shhh don’t tell anyone about my guilty jelly bean pleasure.

I felt like this was an amazing value, and a great way to try out new scents you’ve never tried before, or have been curious about. The wax and fragrance were a good quality, which is important to me as a candle lover.
