Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Animation Studios are once again teaming up to bring a jam-packed weekend of announcements, presentations, displays, and giveaways to this year’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California on July 14-16, 2017.

On the show floor, the two studios join forces for a must-see animation experience at D23 Expo. Artist demonstrations, autograph signings with top filmmakers, fan giveaways, and interactive displays featuring the latest films, including Cars 3, Coco, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, and Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, make this booth one to visit over and over again.

“Night Of Joy” Tickets Now On Sale With New Discounted Park Ticket Add-On Options

As of this morning, you can now purchase your Night of Joy 2017 tickets. This two day concert event will be held on September 8th and 9th at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

This year Disney is offering new ticketing options for guests attending the event. You can add on a one-day discounted Walt Disney World theme park ticket to your Night of Joy 1 or 2 night ticket purchase. The best part is you can wait to use your park admission ticket for a later visit (see below for details).

Single-night concert only tickets will be $45 plus tax in advance
Two-night concert only tickets will be $69 plus tax in advance
Add-on a (1) day Walt Disney World theme park ticket for an additional $62 plus tax*
- Add-on Theme Park Ticket Option is good for use any one day September 8-30, 2017 at any one of the four Walt Disney World Theme Parks

Could The Great Movie Ride at Hollywood Studios Be Closing Permanently?

Rumor has it Disney’s iconic attraction The Great Movie Ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios may be permanently closing it doors?

A forum post was shared on WDW Magic that Disney has chosen not to renew TCM’s sponsorship of The Great Movie Ride. The sponsorship is set to come to an end in 2018. It’s still unknown that will become of the classic attraction or the structure which opened May 1, 1989.

Disney’s plans likely involve the development of the upcoming Toy Story and Star Wars Lands. However, it is unknown exactly what will become of the structure or if it will remain at all. As of right now these are simply rumors swirling and there has been no confirmation from Disney.

If this is indeed true I will be so sad to see it go and I am definitely glad I rode it on my last visit to Hollywood Studios! Will you be riding soon just in case it closes?

New Replacement Mobile Stages To Be Used For Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away

Yesterday I brought you the news that the Hollywood Studios stage show “Star Wars:A Galaxy Far, Far Away” was displaying no scheduled times in My Disney Experience until June 16, 2017. Today, I have the reason why. Mobile stages are replacing the permanent stages that existed in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater.

These mobile stages will be positioned each morning and will be removed each evening following the final performance of the Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away. The removal of these stages will provide guests with additional viewing area for both the “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular” and the recently debuted “Disney Movie Magic“nighttime shows.

‘Cars 3’ Events Coming to the El Captain Theater in Hollywood

Calling all “Cars” Fans! From June 16 to July 30, The El Captain Theater on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles will be showing the new movie along with other Cars 3-themed Events!

Before the movie begins, viewers will be treated to a live stage show featuring high-energy extreme dance battles, acrobatic tricks, LED motion imagery, and BMX freestyle performance. Viewers will also be able to purchase a special meal package from the Hard Rock Cafe. For $30 per person, guests can view the movie at the theater and then head over to the Hard Rock Cafe and dine from a menu created just for the event. The menu includes burgers, a grilled chicken sandwich, a chicken Cesar salad, and a soft drink.

El Captain will also host special screenings for the littlest “Cars” fans. Tiny Tot screenings will be held during the first show on every Tuesday. The screenings will offer lower lighting and reduced sound to make it enjoyable for even the youngest fans.

Disney CEO Bob Iger Receives Award for Service to Veterans

Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger was recently presented the Navy SEAL Foundation’s Patriot Award. Iger received the award based on The Walt Disney Company’s program Heroes Work Here. The program was launched five years ago with a commitment to support military veterans and to provide jobs and career opportunities for U.S. veterans.

To date Heroes Work Here has reportedly placed 8,000 veterans in jobs throughout the Disney company while helping another 15,000 find jobs at other businesses. “My father served in the Navy in World War II. Back then war was an appreciated sacrifice. In Vietnam, the soldiers came back to a deeply divided nation. Every generation of veterans deserves a lifetime of gratitude,” Iger commented.

Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of “Pirates of the Caribbean” and former award recipient, presented the award to Iger at the Los Angeles Evening of Tribute. This event raised over $4 million for the Navy SEAL Foundation, which provides everything from financial to therapeutic support for post-9/11 veterans.

Disney World Plans to Lock MDE Accounts of Guests Abusing the FastPass System

Apparently for a few years now guests have been abusing the Walt Disney World FastPass system. According to WDW News Today guests have been taking advantage of a loophole in the system to book more than the first 3 FastPasses allotted per day.

Guests are doing this by booking FastPasses, at the in-park kiosks, with expired tickets or a second ticket linked to their My Disney Experience Account, that was not used to enter the park. In response to this abuse of the system, Disney will be implementing “In-Park Validation” meaning validation of park admission for the day before allowing FastPass usage.

This abuse of the FastPass system has led to many guests, abiding by the rules, unable to find FastPasses available for their desired attraction while in the parks. One group that has majorly effected this, are unofficial tour guides. The guides show up at park opening with loads of expired tickets and use them to book at FastPass kiosks in the park. Not only are they cheating the system, but they are profiting off it by charging their clients and promising FastPasses to the most popular attractions.

The “In-Park Validation” will allow Cast Members working the FastPass lines to see whether the guest used an active ticket for park entrance that day, if not, they will be denied entrance to the FastPass line and will need to head to the Stand-By line. Hopefully Disney’s decision to crack down on the cheaters of the system, will allow more guests just visiting the parks for a day, the chance to find FastPass availability for some of the more popular attractions.

The validation system would also close a loophole for guests using Annual Passes to book extra FastPasses. Currently, guests traveling to Walt Disney World could borrow Annual Passes of family or friends who may not be visiting the parks, and use them to book extra FastPasses for the day. The guest could then use the Annual Pass to get through the FastPass line. Disney does not require fingerprinting at the FastPass entrances, but the new validation system would show that the Annual Passholder never scanned their MagicBand at the park entrance that day, and they would be denied access to the FastPass line.

Continuous attempts to enter the FastPass line, through the multiple ways you can currently cheat the system, will result in the guest being locked out of their My Disney Experience app and the FastPass system. Should a guest feel this is an error, they can visit Guest Relations to remove the lockout. Disney has not officially reported on this new system, but being a stickler for the rules, I see this as a good thing. What do you think? Share your opinion in the comments section.

New Apple Watch Toy Story Interface Announced Today

The new watchOS 4 for Apple Watch was announced at the WWDC 2017 today! Part of the new announcement revealed the a new feature which includes the Apple Watch Toy Story Interface.

The new watchOS 4 software will land on all Apple Watches in the fall. Users will be able to choose from a set of new Toy Story character watch faces including Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear. These characters will be animated on the watch face, and interact with the time stamp. Previously you could choose Mickey or Minnie for your home screen who would read the time out for you. The new addition of these beloved characters with the Apple Watch Toy Story Interface is sure to be exciting!

Tom Holland Visits Children’s Hospital Los Angeles In Full Spider-Man Outfit

Tom Holland our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man from the upcoming movie “Spider-Man: Homecoming” took time out of his busy web-slinging schedule to visit some VIP’s at the Children’s Hospital Los Angles. Decked out in costume he greeted many of the children being treated there. One lucky kiddo was even treated to a real Spidey flip by Holland. I was very impressed!

This is not the first time the 20 year old British actor has visited a children’s hospital. Holland has also been seen swinging into Eagleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta and later visiting the kiddos in New York – Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital.
