Is Disney Cruise Line Looking For A Second Private Island…Again?

Hey there gossip fans it is I, Anonymouse, with some exciting news for you! D23 Expo brought us many new announcements, one of them being not 2 but 3 new Disney Cruise ships heading our way. Another big announcement was that Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, was voted the top cruise line private island by Cruise Critic for the second year in a row.

With such a popular destination and all of these new ships, Disney is going to have hard time rotating all of them through Castaway Cay. But I’m now hearing that Disney Cruise Line is actively looking again for a new second private island destination for guests to visit.

Last year I told you how Disney was looking into acquiring Egg Island in the Bahamas. Drilling rigs were identified grabbing seabed samples. These samples were needed to determine if dredging work could be done to allow a pier.

Later Tribune 242 reported that the then Prime Minister of Bahamas Perry Christie gave an interview on the “Ed Fields Live” talk show on KISS FM. He gave the update that his administration had preliminary talks with Disney Cruise Line. Christie stated that all sides agreed that impact assessment studies must come first before a private cruise port could be constructed.

These talks went by the wayside as those impact studies showed that the island’s marine environment could not sustain a development of that magnitude.

Everything got really quiet for awhile, until now. I am now hearing that Disney has once again begun the search. Of course not under the Disney name but they aren’t fooling anyone. I don’t have a new island to report yet BUT I do have something else just as good.

It sounds like when the new island is announced we may be getting a totally different theme then what we are used to at Castaway Cay. Who’s ready to go to Tortuga? Guests can look forward to a total Disney Pirate Experience. I’m still waiting on details but this is already getting exciting. Stay tuned for more info as I learn it!

Signage is up at the newly rebrand Pele Soccer store at Disney Springs (formerly United World Soccer.) United World Soccer opened its first location in the Florida Mall in 2004, expanding to Disney Springs in 2014. While the Florida Mall location will keep its name, United World Soccer recently cut a deal with soccer legend Pele, in hopes that the brand will expand even further.

Pele Soccer at Disney Springs will carry Pele jerseys from his time with Brazil, Santos, and the New York Cosmos. It has been rumored that Pele may show up at a Disney Springs event this Fall, although those rumors have not been confirmed.

This is a construction update that has me excited! Between Wine Bar George and the new Margarita stand coming to Epcot I just don’t know which one I am more excited for! I know one thing is for sure, I’m hoping these new drink spots open sooner, rather than later. It looks like I may be in luck, as construction for Wine Bar George, in Disney Springs, is really progressing! Take a look at our photos below:

Construction has progressed to the second story of Wine Bar George, which looks like it may feature a second floor indoor/outdoor tasting area. Imagine the views!

I can’t wait to be sipping a glass of red on the second floor of what is sure to be a stunning location. Wine Bar George is described as an estate-style wine bar, named for Master Sommelier George Miliotes. The wine bar will offer more than 100 wine selections (well known and up-and-coming) handpicked by Miliotes himself. They will also offer a selection of shareable plates to be paired with their wine list.

No official opening date has been released for Wine Bar George, we just know it is expected to open sometime in 2017. Stayed tuned into Chip & Co. and we will keep you updated on construction progress.

Originally said to open in late 2016, construction on The Edison in Disney Springs is coming along nicely, and it seems likely the restaurant will meet its scheduled opening, later this year. The highly anticipated restaurant and bar will offer a new and unique nighttime experience for Disney Springs visitors with its “Industrial Gothic” style.

The building will be themed to resemble a 1920s electric company and will feature stunning 35 foot ceilings. The Edison is sure to become a popular nighttime spot where guests can enjoy artisanal craft cocktails and nightly entertainment. The entertainment will no doubt be the most unique and diverse in the Disney Springs area, with palm readers, DJs, and contortionists, to name a few.

A few months ago I discovered these adorable Mickey and Minnie Hand Sanitizers on Amazon, that were just adorable. After falling in love with them, I was very excited to get samples of the newest ones that just came out to check out! The new Disney Princess and Marvel Hand Sanitizers are just as cute as I had hoped!

I got all eight of the newest ones released, four Disney princesses and four Marvel heroes. Each includes a sturdy holder, and a bottle of aloe hand sanitizer. They all have the same mild scent, not too perfumey, but also not too alcohol-ey either. The sanitizer itself was very smooth on my hands, and not sticky at all, which is always a plus for me. In comparison to the Bath and Body Works ones, I would actually say they are better texture wise, because there was no slimy feel when I used it.

I have really have a love for mini plants lately, especially succulents, air plants and cacti. The one thing that’s been lacking in my terrariums and planters though, is something Disney related! My hopes have been answered though, because how cute is this Baby Groot Air Plant Planter Set?

Redwood Stoneworks on Etsy makes incredible hand cast and painted planters that are perfect for small air plants. They add a sense of whimsy to the already relaxing and beautiful vibe of air plants. I love these plants because each one has it’s own personality with their twisting and arching leaves. Groot is also one of my favorite characters to burst out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe too. Each of these darling planters even comes WITH an air plant! I love the idea of a random air plant, because it adds a little bit of surprise to an already fantastic item. The designer also makes an array of Star Wars themed planters that are just as amazing as the Baby Groot one too!

Disney’s Broadway-bound Frozen Musical to Have Trial Run in Denver

Though seemingly far removed from the glitz and glamour of Broadway, Disney’s latest stage musical will begin a trial-run at Buell Theatre in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts from August 17 – October 1, 2017.

The latest offering from Disney Theatrical is a full-length stage adaptation of the much loved film Frozen. The Broadway version promises to add more depth to the story-lines and characters and will feature new songs and details added in by the film’s original creators.

As productions prepare to for their debut on the Great White Way, it is not uncommon for them to first go through workshops and rehearsals outside of New York. This allows the creative team to make any final tweaks or adjustments before starting a long Broadway run.

From a tweet sent out by Denver Center for the Performing Arts earlier this week it looks like preparations are well underway for the August 17th opening of Frozen.

Tickets for Frozen went on sale May 1st at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. At this stage there are only a limited number of seats available. Disney fans looking to take a sneak peak at this exciting new musical should contact the box office directly to discuss options.

Change in Operating Hours for Magic Kingdom’s ‘A Pirate’s Adventure’

A Pirate’s Adventure – Treasures of the Seven Seas will be changing its operating hours. Beginning Sunday, July 30th the pirate-themed scavenger hunt will operate from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. daily. The scavenger hunt takes place in Magic Kingdom‘s Adventureland and sends participants on five pirate missions to help Captain Jack Sparrow find hidden treasures.

Park guests can head to The Crow’s Nest in Adventureland to pick up maps for A Pirate’s Adventure. There are five missions that take about 20 minutes each to complete, you have no time limit and are free to begin and end each mission at your convenience. The scavenger hunt is free of cost and open to guests of any age.
