Disneyland Paris Presents “Festival of Pirates and Princesses”

Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris

All fairy tales start with the words “Once upon a time”. How the rest unfolds is up to Disneyland  Paris guests. This spring, guests can choose their side—Pirates or Princesses! Guests can experience shows and attractions, meet Disney Characters, have their faces painted, get dressed up and enjoy a variety of entertainment at Disneyland Park. This will help them create their very own adventure story, with them starring as the hero. They can choose to be one or decide to be both – that’s the real magic of Disneyland Paris! Our brand-new “Festival of Pirates and Princesses” season is one of the highlights of the 25th Anniversary celebrations that are coming to a close in September 2018.

PARTICIPATE IN A BRAND-NEW INTERACTIVE SHOW: DISNEY PIRATE OR PRINCESS: MAKE YOUR CHOICE!

Disney Pirate or Princess: Make your Choice! is the latest novelty coming to Disneyland Paris in spring 2018 and it involves more than 85 performers. Show director Christophe Leclercq has created a wholly interactive and unrestricted show: “This is the first time we have ever immersed our guests so fully in an outdoor show. They decide on their team and they experience a different story depending on the choice they make.”

The two worlds will merge several times a day. Setting off from opposite ends of the Parade route, both the Pirates float and Disney Princesses float stop halfway and immerse guests in a musical celebration. Then, the floats will head to Central Plaza where they’ll come together for a mammoth spectacle of guest interaction.

On the blossoming, spring-colour Princesses float, guests will see the heroes of our childhood, like Cinderella and Belle, as well more recent favourites, like Rapunzel. Christophe says, “There will be nine Disney Princesses in total, as well as Moana—and they will be joined by none other than Mickey Mouse!” They will be surrounded by a troupe of dancers in costumes bursting with flowers and other natural sculptures and will be celebrating the Fantasyland world, where dreams come true.

On the Pirate side, a huge galleon will sail down Main Street, U.S.A., as though it were on the ocean’s peaceful waves. Captain Hook and Mr Smee will be on-board, up against Peter Pan and Wendy… as well as Minnie Mouse in her best buccaneer outfit! “New Characters also join this crew, including the hero from Disney Junior’s Jake and the Never Land Pirates, who will sail by on the hull of his ship!”. An acrobatic crew of pirates can be seen leaping from one mast to another or up into the air, making this spring cruise a joyful, musical adventure celebrating the spirit of Adventureland.

Next, it is on to Central Plaza, in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, where everyone converges. Guests are then invited to choose a side and take part in one of the two routines, Pirates or Princesses, along with their favourite Disney Characters, all to the same playful melody, paying homage to Disneyland Park, which is the only place where the two worlds can be enjoyed in unison! “And because the brand-new show will be on a couple of times every day, nothing is stopping you from coming back and switching sides later in the day! Both adventures have a little something everyone!” Christophe adds.

EXPERIENCE A SPRING DEVOTED TO PIRATES AND PRINCESSES THAT ALSO EXTENDS DISNEYLAND PARIS’ 25TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

Pirates and Princesses were not forgotten in Disneyland Paris’s 25th Anniversary celebrations, which are still in full swing until September 2018. Every day, Disney Stars on Parade, created especially for the 25th Anniversary, transports guests into Disney tales, exploring unique worlds with Peter Pan, Disney Princesses and Princes and a multitude of other Disney Characters. The captivating night-time show Disney Illuminations transforms Sleeping Beauty Castle into a screen that’s beyond your wildest dreams, where the stories of The Little Mermaid and even Frozen come to life. For the first time, sequences from live action films such as Pirates of the Caribbean are also included. Guests can witness an extraordinary sea battle, including cannon shots fired by Jack Sparrow’s legendary Black Pearl. In fact, Jack Sparrow has even joined the adventure in Adventureland’s must-see Pirates of the Caribbean, along with Captain Barbossa and a crew of new pirates.

This spring is also the perfect opportunity to rediscover classic attractions such as Le Pays des Contes de Fées, Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains and Peter Pan’s Flight.

EXPLORE DISNEYLAND PARK: THE BEST PLACE TO BECOME A PRINCESS OR PIRATE

younger guests who dream of looking like their favourite heroes can find costumes in a number of shops throughout Disney Parks all year long. Le Coffre du Capitaine (Adventureland) is the ideal hideout for those who want to become the perfect pirate, while La Chaumière des Sept Nains (Fantasyland) crowns anyone who wants to be a real princess! Exclusively at Disneyland Hotel, guests can become a Princess for a Day and undergo a fairy-tale transformation! Face-painting stands, which are loved by guests, can be found throughout Disneyland Park and provide the ideal opportunity to have your face painted in some of the most fantastic artistic creations. Pirate or princess: make your choice!

Disneyland Paris Merchandise teams have also developed an entirely new range of products related to this festival.

A host of Disney characters will be around for photographs with all the pirates and princesses at their meeting point at Pirates’ Beach, among others, near Captain Hook’s galleon, or in the Princess Pavilion, a magical location saved for the greatest Disney heroines where guests can experience delightfully enchanting encounters.

ENJOY A FEAST FOR YOUR TASTE BUDS AS WELL AS YOUR EYES

Finally, foodies have the opportunity to dine at Cinderella’s royal table, which is decorated for a princess, in Auberge de Cendrillon (Cinderella’s Royal Inn), or head to Captain Jack’s – Restaurant des Pirates3, home to pirates on the lookout for exotic cuisine, in a Caribbean beach-tavern setting.

Pirate or Princess: you can choose to be one or decide to be both. That is the real magic of Disneyland Paris!

The Construction Walls Are Down and Signs Are Up at Maria & Enzo’s at Disney Springs

Maria & Enzo's

Maria & Enzo's

The opening of The Edison building at Disney Springs has to be one of the most hotly anticipated events of the year.  This industrial-gothic themed club promises to deliver a nightclub experience like no other with an eclectic array of entertainment from cabaret and vaudeville-style acts to DJ and live music.  Sharing the space in The Edison’s iconic building will be three new eateries: Maria & Enzo’s, Enzo’s Hideaway and Pizza Pointe.

The venue has seen its opening date pushed back considerably over the last year but it now looks like visitors to Disney Springs will be able to check out these new spaces starting on New Year’s Eve.  As proof that the eateries and nightclub are getting ready to open, the construction walls have come down around the building and signage is up.

This tweet shared by Maria & Enzo’s shows the new neon sign in position and ready to welcome visitors.  This trattoria-style restaurant will make guests feel like they are hanging out in an abandoned 1930’s airline terminal which has been transformed into an open dining hall. The restaurant will offer gorgeous views of Lake Buena Vista and 50-foot ceilings. Inspired by the cuisine of Sicily, the menu will feature a delicious range of family-friendly dishes including Arancini di Carne (rice balls stuffed with meat), Melanzane Parmigiana (eggplant parmesan) and handmade pastas.

The second concept which you’ll see from the tweet above is Enzo’s Hideaway which is a speakeasy inspired by Roman aperitivo bars. Enzo’s also looks near completion with signage in place.   Enzo’s Hideaway is located in the storied rum-runner tunnels that join Maria & Enzos. The space will offer Prohibition-Era classic cocktails and serve a casual menu of Roman dishes like the city’s legendary  Bucatini alla Carbonara (hollow spaghetti with creamy egg and pancetta sauce).

The final eatery to open as part of the group is Pizza Ponte which will be a fast-casual restaurant where Disney guests can grab a slice of Pizza.  In addition, the restaurant will offer pastries including homemade Italian donuts as well as Italian sandwiches and espresso.

Keep following along with Chip and Co. for the latest details about The Edison, Maria & Enzo’s, Enzo’s Hideaway and Pizza Ponte.

A Petition to Disney to Remove The Last Jedi from the Canon Leads to Threats

The Last Jedi petition

Star Wars fans who have seen The Last Jedi seem to fall into two camps – they either love it or they hate it.

Some have disliked it so much that a petition was created asking Disney to strike it from the canon, postpone Episode IX and remake Episode VIII.

Henry Walsh has launched a petition via change.org – that you can find here – and as of this post it has received over 41,500 signatures. In more recent updates, however, it seems like Walsh is backing away from this petition.

In an update posted yesterday he said “I put this petition up because I was upset and I was on strong pain medication.”  He want on to say, “So, I made this petition. It was a bad idea at the time and I feel that we are pooling our efforts in not a healthy direction.”  And finally he stated in his update, ” I love all of the support, but we also know that Disney isn’t going to do anything, and with so many people, who have much better causes, who are struggling to gain attention it is a shame that this is getting this level of media attention.”

Walsh shared another update this morning after receiving threats and messages implying that he was bought off by Disney. “I have not been, as some people accused, bought off by Disney. I wish I *was* bought off by Disney, I could use the money, but no I didn’t change my tune on the liking of this film. If you can please stop sending me threats I would greatly appreciate it,” he posted.

He also stated that he was going to use the attention this petition has gained to do good. He wrote, “I’m going to use this thing to do good… So each and every day I will use the ability to send out an update to direct people to worthy and good causes. Why? Because that is a decent thing to do.”

Have you seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi?  Did you love or really, really dislike it?!  Would you sign the petition?

Many Upset Over President Trump’s Animatronic in The Hall of Presidents

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom

The Hall of Presidents originally closed back in January of this year to add newly-elected President Trump and to receive an overall update. The attraction finally reopened this week. Much controversy surrounded The Hall of Presidents while it was closed for it’s refurbishment and many speculated if/when it would reopen.

The controversy didn’t die down once The Hall of Presidents reopened on Tuesday. Many took to Twitter saying Trump’s animatronic was poorly done and looks nothing like him. Some compared the animatronic to looking more like Hillary Clinton than the President himself.

Others compared the animatoric to looking like actor Jon Voight and even being the re-imagined Ellen animatronic from the now-closed Universe of Energy ride at Epcot.

Disney has not released an official statement addressing people’s concerns on how the President looks but previously said they used the ‘latest technology’ to bring to life “more lifelike” movements and the president actually recorded the dialogue.

Disney Announces Initial Cast for ‘Artemis Fowl’

Disney Announces Initial Cast for 'Artemis Fowl'

Disney announced today initial casting for the live-action adaptation of “Artemis Fowl,” which will be directed by Kenneth Branagh and produced by Branagh and Judy Hofflund. News of the Artemis Fowl movie was first announced back in 2013 and will feature some familiar faces along with an up and coming actor.

The search for an actor to play Artemis Fowl was extensive, with casting director Lucy Bevan seeing over  1200 candidates for the part. Branagh chose Irish newcomer Ferdia Shaw, who will make his onscreen debut in the title role. Descended from a long line of criminal masterminds, 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl finds himself in a battle of strength and cunning against a powerful, hidden race of fairies who may be behind his father’s disappearance.

Josh Gad (“Murder on the Orient Express,” “Marshall,” “Beauty and the Beast”) has signed on for the role of Mulch Diggums, a kleptomaniacal dwarf who works for the fairies—and himself.

Academy Award winner Judi Dench (“Victoria & Abdul,” “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children,” “Skyfall”) takes on the role of Commander Root, the steely leader of the fairy police force (LEPrecon).

Lara McDonnell  (“The Delinquent Season,” “Love, Rosie,” “The Walk Invisible”) has been cast in the role of Captain Holly Short, the elf hero.

Nonso Anozie (“Cinderella,” “The Grey,” “Ender’s Game”) will play Butler, Artemis Fowl’s formidable bodyguard.

Based on the bestselling book series by Eoin Colfer and with a screenplay by award-winning playwright Conor McPherson, “Artemis Fowl” is slated for release in U.S. theaters on August 9, 2019. Production will begin early next year in the U.K.
