New Family Raft Slide “Ray Rush” Coming to Aquatica Orlando in Spring 2018

New Family Raft Slide "Ray Rush" Coming to Aquatica Orlando in Spring 2018

A brand-new family raft slide is splashing into Aquatica, SeaWorld’s Waterpark in spring 2018. Ray Rush promises to be a fully-loaded water adventure which will combine three unique slide elements, never before seen at Aquatica, into one action-packed attraction the entire family can enjoy together.

At nearly 60 feet tall, Ray Rush is where family and friends can take on three exciting thrills as they slide, splash and soar like never before. First, riders will be launched at 33 feet per second with water jets designed to propel rafts into the first of several enclosed tube sections. Next, riders will swirl into a colossal translucent sphere which spins the raft around the slide walls before entering another enclosed tube section. Finally, riders will drop into an open-air halfpipe that resembles the shape of a manta ray. Rafts will soar back and forth on the wings of the manta before entering the final enclosed tube section that ends with a splash.

“Ray Rush will offer a ride experience you won’t be able to get anywhere else in Florida. Aquatica will be the first waterpark in the state to combine these three unique elements into one attraction” said Cathy Valeriano, Aquatica Orlando vice president. “Ray Rush is the perfect addition to our attraction portfolio, complementing what is already one of the most family-friendly waterslide lineups in Orlando.”

Ray Rush will have a height requirement of 42” to appeal to families with children and will accommodate up to four riders per raft. The new slide will be located on the north side of the park next to Walkabout Waters.

In order to make way for the new attraction, HooRoo Run will close permanently on October 31, 2017. To accommodate construction, Walhalla Wave will temporarily close on this date and re-open in spring 2018 alongside Ray Rush. For a limited-time, Aquatica Pass Members will receive a one-time Quick Queue to ride both HooRoo Run and Walhalla Wave on select days in October before construction begins in November.

The best way to experience Aquatica is with an Aquatica Orlando Annual Pass. For a limited-time, Florida residents can purchase an Aquatica Orlando Annual Pass for only $10 per month with EZpay. Aquatica Pass Members enjoy unlimited admission and free parking as well as discounts and the opportunity to be among the first to ride Ray Rush when it opens in spring 2018. For more information, visit AquaticaOrlando.com.

Spooktacular Halloween Lineup on ABC

ABC Halloween
©1966 United Feature Syndicate Inc

ABC is the place to be for spooktacular entertainment this Halloween season. All of their comedies along with “The Chew,” “Dancing with the Stars” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” are all celebrating Halloween. And of course, Halloween specials like “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and “Toy Story OF TERROR!” also will return for encore performances. Below is a listing of Halloween-themed programming (all times are EDT).

THURSDAY, OCT. 19

“It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” – In Charles M. Schulz’s classic animated Halloween-themed PEANUTS special, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” the PEANUTS gang celebrates Halloween with Linus hoping that, finally, he will be visited by The Great Pumpkin, while Charlie Brown is invited to a Halloween party. Cast members include Peter Robbins (Charlie Brown) and Christopher Shea (Linus). The cast also includes Sally Dryer as Lucy, Chris Doran as Schroeder, Bill Melendez as Snoopy, Kathy Steinberg as Sally, Tracy Stratford as Violet and Ann Altieri as Frieda. (8:00–8:30 p.m.)

“Toy Story OF TERROR!” – Tom Hanks and Tim Allen reprise their roles as Woody and Buzz, respectively, in Disney•Pixar’s first special for television, “Toy Story OF TERROR!” – a spooky tale featuring all of your favorite characters from the “Toy Story” films. What starts out as a fun road trip for the “Toy Story” gang takes an unexpected turn for the worse when the trip detours to a roadside motel. After one of the toys goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate in this “Toy Story OF TERROR!” The cast of “Toy Story OF TERROR!” includes Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Joan Cusack as Jessie, Carl Weathers as Combat Carl/Combat Carl Jr., Timothy Dalton as Mr. Pricklepants, Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head, Wallace Shawn as Rex and Kristen Schaal as Trixie. (8:30-9:00 p.m.)

SUNDAY, OCT. 22

“America’s Funniest Home Videos” “Episode 2803” – AFV celebrates Halloween with a montage of kids’ reactions to scary Halloween decorations – including a brave trick-or-treater who tries to stomp on the neighbor’s animatronic zombie hand; pets get in on the Halloween action with funny costumes of their own; and a musical tribute to people getting scared. Funny Face Swaps and a monkey at the zoo who gets jealous when watching a couple kiss will also be featured. (8:00–9:00 p.m.)

MONDAY, OCT. 23

“The Chew” – Beginning Oct. 23, “The Chew” Crew has Halloween-themed episodes every day with tasty and terrifying treats, and dishes that will get you into the holiday spirit in no time! (Weekdays, 1:00-2:00 p.m.)

TUESDAY, OCT. 24

“The Middle” – “Halloween VIII: Orson Murder Mystery” – As Halloween approaches, Frankie discovers that a woman had died in the bathtub of the Heck house close to 50 years ago; Frankie and Brick become convinced that she was murdered and, much to Mike’s chagrin, attempt to track down and find the murderer. Meanwhile, Axl and Lexie become frustrated over losing their alone time when Sue insists on hanging out with them wherever they go. (8:00-8:30 p.m.)

“Fresh Off the Boat” – “It’s a Plastic Pumpkin, Louis Huang” – On Halloween, Louis is disappointed that Evan doesn’t take his childish delight in the holiday; Eddie and the gang plot to crash a cool older girl’s party; Jessica and Emery are spooked when they hear a strange man’s voice emanating from Grandma’s room, and things get even creepier when a mysterious group of strangers whisk Grandma away, and they suspect the supernatural worst. George Takei guest stars as Bernard. (8:30–9:00 p.m.)

“black-ish” – “Advance to Go (Collect $200)” – The Johnsons get together to play Monopoly during family game night and the competition is intense. As the night progresses, alliances are formed and some family members are pushed to their limits. Meanwhile, Bow makes it clear how she feels about Junior’s girlfriend, Megan. (9:00-9:30 p.m.)

“The Mayor” – “City Hall-oween” – As Halloween approaches, Mayor Courtney Rose and Police Chief Fox (guest star Kristen Johnston) find themselves at odds on how to handle the community’s first annual spook-tacular celebration at City Hall. During the night of the bash, it dawns on Courtney that throwing a party to keep kids safe doesn’t address the bigger issues in Fort Grey so he comes up with a more comprehensive plan. Meanwhile, Dina gets into the spirit by dressing up as Congresswoman Maxine Waters, while Jermaine and T.K. set out to prank Val who has the last laugh when she outsmarts the guys at their own game. (9:30-10:00 p.m.)

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 25

“The Goldbergs”“Jackie Likes Star Trek” – After Adam and Jackie disagree over their Halloween costumes, Murray teaches Adam to be a shell of a man to keep Jackie happy; however, it backfires quickly also causing an issue for Murray and Beverly. But they soon all learn to compromise in their own special way, in the Halloween and 100th episode, directed by Lea Thompson (8:00–8:30 p.m.)

“Speechless” – “N-I–NIGHTMARE ON D-I–DIMEO STREET” – The DiMeo kids mistakenly eat old Halloween candy that causes feverish dreams of horror and wish fulfillment, and Kenneth agonizes over which era of Michael Jackson to dress as for Halloween. (8:30-9:00 p.m.)

“Modern Family” – “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Phil Dunphy” – Phil and Claire still want to celebrate Halloween in a big way, but it seems no one shares their same enthusiasm making them wonder if maybe everyone is right. Over at the Pritchett’s, Mitch and Cam are frustrated by how long Jay is taking to finish their kitchen remodel, which forces Mitch to finally stand up to his dad. Meanwhile, Gloria’s hospitality is wearing thin when Cam oversteps his boundaries as a house guest. (9:00-9:31 p.m.)

“American Housewife” – “Boo-Who?” – Westport is known for its Halloween tradition of leaving an anonymous note and goodies on a neighbors’ doorstep (called a “Boo”). Katie tries to play it cool but is absolutely giddy when the Ottos receive their first “Boo,” only to find out it was put there by accident, on a special Halloween episode. (9:31-10:00 p.m.)

SUNDAY, OCT. 29

“It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and “You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown” – This full-length version of the classic animated PEANUTS special “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” includes the bonus cartoon, “You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown,” in which Linus runs for class president. The PEANUTS gang celebrates Halloween, with Linus hoping that, finally, he will be visited by The Great Pumpkin, while Charlie Brown is invited to a Halloween party. “You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown” – in which Linus runs for class president with Lucy and Charlie Brown managing his campaign – features Chad Webber as Charlie Brown, Robin Kohn as Lucy, Stephen Shea as Linus, Hilary Momberger as Sally and Todd Barbee as Russell. (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

MONDAY, OCT. 30

“Dancing with the Stars” – “Dancing with the Stars” treats viewers to a thrilling “spooktacular” night filled with scary and chilling performances. (8:00-10:01 p.m.)

TUESDAY, OCT. 31

“The Chew” – This season, “’The Chew’’s Halloween Bash,” airing Tuesday, Oct. 31, is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before! Our hosts will not be wearing just one costume … but they’ll change into multiple costumes throughout the hour! (Weekdays, 1:00-2:00 p.m.)

Spook-tacular Disney Find- Haunted Mansion Scarf

Haunted Mansion Scarf

Like many other Disney Addicts, I’m a huge fan of the Haunted Mansion. The creepy purple wall paper is probably my favorite icon from the ride too. I think I did a cross between a squeal and swoon when I saw this Haunted Mansion Scarf by Sassy Skirts For Gals on Etsy!

This is an infinity scarf featuring the silhouette from the beloved Haunted Mansion Wallpaper with the creepy eyes. Infinity scarves drape beautifully with no fuss. It is the perfect way to show your love of The Haunted Mansion. The scarf has a purple background with the black googly eye damask print. The dimensions are approximately 9 inches across double sided and 72 generous inches in circumference. The fabric is synthetic performance jersey, which drapes nicely and can be hand washed. Of course if you need more Haunted Mansion inspiration in your life, she makes a matching Haunted Mansion skirt too! I know what I’m wearing on my next Disney trip!

Would you wear this spooky Haunted Mansion Scarf on a casual day, or only at the parks?

Dogs Now Allowed at Select Walt Disney World Resorts

Dogs

As a dog-lover, this is super exciting news for me to write! Next time you are departing on your Walt Disney World vacation, you won’t have to leave Fido at home! Disney just announced that as of Sunday, October 15, dogs will be allowed at four Walt Disney World Resorts. In addition to your dog joining you on your next Disney World visit, they also will be treated to their own welcome package to make their stay even more enjoyable!

Four Walt Disney World resort hotels have been designated dog-friendly. Each property’s per night/per room pet-cleaning rate is:

  • Disney’s Art of Animation Resort $50/night
  • Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort $50/night
  • Disney’s Yacht Club Resort $75/night
  • Cabins at Disney’s Ft. Wilderness Resort $50/night

A maximum of two dogs per guest room can be accommodated. Each guest room will have easy access to outdoor pet walkways for exercise and green spaces with pet relief areas.

Dog lovers will find plenty of Disney amenities and special touches for their four-legged friends.

  • At check-in, Pluto’s Welcome Kit includes mat, bowls, a pet ID tag, courtesy plastic disposable bags, puppy pads and dog walking maps. Also included: a Pluto “Do Not Disturb” door hanger indicating to hotel staff that a pet is in the room.
  • Disney enjoys a partnership with Best Friends Pet Care, an on-property full-service facility that can provide assistance with pet daycare and other pet services (fees apply).
  • Pet merchandise is coming soon to participating resorts.

Disney previously opened their doors to dogs and other pets as several people found shelter at Disney World Resorts during Hurricane Irma. Those pets must have touched the hearts of many (I know they did mine!) for Disney to make it permanent!

It’s not known at this time if select rooms at these four resorts will be dog-friendly and if others won’t. Service dogs have always been allowed at Disney World Resorts and Guests can always request an “allergy and asthma deep-cleaning” prior to their stay.

While dogs will be allowed to stay in guest rooms, they will be expected to be well behaved, leashed in public resort areas and properly vaccinated. For more information about the new dog-friendly trial program, including other restrictions and policies, guests may contact 407-W-DISNEY. DVC Members should contact Member Services at 800-800-9800.
