Orlando International Airport Opens New Terminal C Expansion; Virgin Atlantic Officially Moves
Flying out of Orlando just got a little smoother! Orlando International Airport (MCO) has officially opened a brand-new wing at Terminal C, adding five new gates and welcoming Virgin Atlantic to its new home as part of a $462 million expansion project.
The new gates, numbered 250 through 254, were celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring airport officials and Virgin Atlantic team members. Originally planned during Terminal C’s initial development, the expansion was delayed during the COVID-19 pandemic but is now complete. The new gates use a Multiple Aircraft Ramp System (MARS) design, allowing them to flex between serving multiple narrow-body aircraft or larger wide-body international jets, giving the airport even more operational flexibility.
The additional gates increase Terminal C’s annual passenger capacity to between 10 and 12 million travelers. Airport officials also expect the expansion to help ease congestion throughout Orlando International Airport by shifting more passengers away from the busy A and B terminals. That’s welcome news considering MCO welcomed nearly 58 million passengers in 2025.
The expansion also paves the way for future improvements across the airport, including renovations to Terminals A and B, refreshed interiors at Airsides 1 and 3, and updated restrooms throughout the airport. Terminal C, which opened in 2022, remains the only airport terminal in the United States with a direct connection to intercity passenger rail service.
If you’re flying Virgin Atlantic to or from Orlando, be sure to double-check your flight information before heading to the airport, as all Virgin Atlantic flights now operate from Terminal C.
Whether you’re flying into Orlando for Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, or your next Central Florida adventure, our friends at Get Away Today can help you save on vacation packages, hotels, and theme park tickets. Be sure to contact them when planning your next getaway!
Coral Reef Restaurant at EPCOT Closing for Refurbishment This Fall
One of EPCOT’s most unique dining locations is getting a refresh later this year. Disney has announced that Coral Reef Restaurant will temporarily close for refurbishment beginning September 8, 2026.
According to Disney, the restaurant is expected to reopen later in 2026, although an exact reopening date has not yet been announced. Earlier this year, Coral Reef Restaurant also shifted to serving dinner only, with lunch service no longer being offered.
Located inside The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilion, Coral Reef Restaurant is famous for its massive panoramic windows overlooking one of the world’s largest man-made marine habitats. Guests can enjoy dinner while watching sea turtles, sharks, rays, and thousands of colorful fish swim by, making it one of the most relaxing dining experiences at Walt Disney World.
The refurbishment comes as EPCOT continues to see updates across the park. If Coral Reef has been on your must-do dining list, you’ll want to make plans before September 8. Hopefully the underwater favorite returns later this year looking even better while keeping the incredible aquarium views that have made it a fan favorite for decades.

Disney to Auction Props from MuppetVision 3D, Dinosaur, Rivers of America, and More
For Disney fans who have always dreamed of owning a real piece of park history, that opportunity is about to become a reality. Disney has announced a new partnership with Heritage Auctions that will bring authentic props, signs, and other artifacts from its theme parks and resorts directly to collectors through a new auction series debuting at this year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
According to the announcement, the “Disney Experiences Auction: Rare and Remarkable Finds” will feature verified pieces from Disney parks that are ready for their “next chapter” with fans. The inaugural auction will take place during D23 in Anaheim this August and will be hosted by Bret Iwan, the official voice of Mickey Mouse. Unlike previous sales of Disney memorabilia, these items will be offered through Heritage Auctions using both live and online bidding.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is where many of these items are coming from. Props, signage, and decorative elements have reportedly been collected from recently closed Walt Disney World attractions and locations, including MuppetVision 3D, Dinosaur, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Rivers of America. Additional artifacts from older retired attractions, such as The Great Movie Ride, could also make their way into future auctions.
Disney has occasionally sold park memorabilia in the past, but this marks the company’s most significant effort in years to make authentic attraction pieces available directly to fans. Whether you’re hoping to add a bit of Muppet mayhem to your collection or preserve a piece of DinoLand U.S.A. history, this new auction series could feature some truly one-of-a-kind treasures.
If you’re planning to bid, remember that auction houses typically add a buyer’s premium on top of the winning bid, so collectors should factor that into their budgets before raising their virtual paddles.
If collecting Disney history has you dreaming about making new Disney memories, our friends at Get Away Today can help you save on your next Walt Disney World or Disneyland vacation with discounted tickets and vacation packages. Small Fire Causes Evacuation at Magic Kingdom It’s a Small World Attraction
An unexpected incident interrupted the music at Walt Disney World yesterday when a small fire broke out inside the classic Magic Kingdom attraction “it’s a small world.”
Videos surfaced on TikTok on July 1 showing guests being evacuated from the Fantasyland ride. The footage captured the loading station filling up with heavy smoke or fire extinguisher fumes while Disney Cast Members worked efficiently to clear the area. At the time the primary video was filmed, the queue had already been completely evacuated, leaving only park staff in the immediate loading zone.
Additional images shared by guests online showed riders stuck on the boats further inside the attraction, waiting for the all-clear to disembark as smoke drifted into the main room.

While Disney has not released an official statement regarding the exact cause of the incident, an evacuated guest can be heard in the background of one video suggesting that “someone dropped something,” hinting that a lost personal item like a cell phone or portable battery pack might have been a factor.
Thankfully, the quick response of the Cast Members ensured that the situation was handled smoothly without any reported injuries.
Disney has announced a massive surprise for budget-conscious park fans. For a limited time, you can experience the magic of the Disneyland Resort after dark for a fraction of the usual cost.
Starting now, guests can purchase the all-new 1-Day Evening Ticket for just $59, granting admission for one evening to either Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park.
With standard single-day summer tickets often climbing past $150, this limited-time promo offers up to 68% in savings. If you’ve been waiting for the perfect excuse to catch the nighttime fireworks, ride a few iconic attractions in cooler weather, or experience the ongoing Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration, this is your moment.

Camp Pendleton Families Receive Disneyland Tickets at Special ‘Toy Story 5’ Screening
Disney has a long and proud history of honoring our nation’s service members, but their latest event brought a new level of magic to Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base! On Monday, nearly 500 military children and their families gathered right on base for a very special, exclusive screening of Disney and Pixar’s smash-hit Toy Story 5.
What started as an exciting movie day quickly transformed into a lifetime memory when Josh D’Amaro, Chief Executive of Disney Experiences, made a surprise appearance. In a true moment of classic Disney magic, D’Amaro announced that every single family in attendance was being gifted tickets to the Disneyland Resort—sending the room into absolute cheers!
The day was packed with extra surprises from start to finish. Beloved characters Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Mickey Mouse made special appearances to greet the families, and attendees were treated to fun giveaways and exclusive video messages from the star-studded talent behind the film. The entire activation was centered on celebration, deep appreciation, and creating a joyful space for military community connection.
This incredible event was made possible through Disney’s nearly 15-year partnership with Blue Star Families. It marks a major milestone in the broader, company-wide “Disney Celebrates America” initiative, which is rolling out nationwide in honor of the United States’ upcoming 250th anniversary. As part of these historic celebrations, Disney has made a massive $2.5 million commitment to Blue Star Families to directly support the well-being of military families coast-to-coast.
Military families serve right alongside their service members every single day behind the scenes. Because family well-being is directly tied to military readiness and retention, events like this provide crucial moments of community, recognition, and well-deserved joy.
Admiration for the U.S. Armed Forces is deeply woven into the 100-year history of The Walt Disney Company. This patriotism dates right back to founders Walt and Roy O. Disney, who both proudly served their country during the First World War.
The magic at Camp Pendleton is just one of a series of high-profile moments scheduled throughout 2026 where Disney and Blue Star Families are team-building to show up for our military communities. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate America than by spreading happiness to the families who protect it!
Are you a military family who has experienced some Disney magic?
