My Disney Experience is the app for your smartphone that allows you to plan and share your vacation details at home and on the go. This app has so much information contained in it both about your vacation and about the parks and other Walt Disney World-related items. With the latest update, this app is even better and more user-friendly!

Have you updated the app yet? If not, you will want to go to the App Store (or your phone’s version of the App Store). Tap on ‘Update’ and wait for the magic to download!

Once the update is complete, open the app. The opening sequence remains the same – the fireworks eventually form a not-so-hidden Mickey! The first time you open the app after the update, an introduction to the new screen will pop up.

The new screen shows all of your pertinent vacation information in a new, streamlined way. Your upcoming vacation, complete with dates and location, are shown just under the Magic Kingdom park map. Tapping this brings the user to the screen that includes all the information about their upcoming Resort reservation.

Under the Upcoming Vacation Information on the Home Screen, the following are found:

Perhaps the best thing about this update is the banner along the bottom of the app. This banner includes the following:

Home – brings the user to the screen described above
Map – brings the user to a map of Walt Disney World Resort
Magnifying Glass – allows the user to a search screen
Button with three lines – brings the user to the same screen as previously
Plus button

The Plus button is new and allows the user to get a FastPass+, Reserve Dining, Order Food, Shop Memory Maker, and Buy Tickets and Passes.

Strollers that are perfect for the Disney Theme Parks

Disney Announced on Thursday that certain strollers and wagons are no longer allowed in the Disney theme parks.

You can read up on the full list of Disney World and Disneyland Rules here:

Starting on May 1st Strollers must be no larger than 31″ wide and 52″ long.

And as a reminder stroller wagons will no longer be permitted at Walt Disney World or Disneyland.

All of this we already knew. Instead of dwelling on what we can’t bring into the theme parks how about we look at some of the items we can bring in.

When my kids were younger we loved a simple umbrella stroller at the theme parks. It is lightweight, folds up quickly, and my little ones could get in and out with little to no assistance. I found this one on Amazon and it is a super cute Winnie the Pooh design. Did I mention it is very inexpensive?

If you need something a little bigger but still very maneuverable Kolcraft Cloud Plus Lightweight Stroller is another great option. It has lots of extras a normal umbrella stroller doesn’t have but still perfect for the parks. It comes in a variety of colors if you are not a fan of red and black.

If you have an infant who is not quite ready for a sit up on their own stroller, we had this Evenflo Vive Travel System. It was perfect to go from the car to the stroller and as your little one gets older they can transition to sitting up on their own in the stroller. We bought the extra bases for both cars.

If you have an infant and a toddler the Baby Trend Sit N Stand Ultra Tandem Stroller might be the way to go. It is only 49″ long so you are safe to bring it to the parks without having to worry.

There are several different brands and colors so just scroll to the bottom and double check the dimensions. Most of the ones I looked for all fell within the Disney Guidelines.

So this just leaves the side by side strollers. Most of the ones I looked at hovered right around 30″ to 32″ wide but many were way over. Be careful when buying one of these for the parks.

Baby Trend makes an Expedition Double Jogger Stroller which isn’t too bulky and I think would be great for the parks. There are other brands out there and I have seen some double strollers go all the way up to $699. Just do your homework. If you order almost everything off of Amazon like I do they are really good about listing out the sizes at the bottom.

Just remember the first number is length, then width, then height.

So as you can see and just from doing a little research this morning there are a ton of stroller options out there. We always had strollers we used for travel and then the nice ones we had for around the house.

No matter how you do it just make sure to leave those wagons at home and double check the size of your stroller before you bring it to the parks. I hope this helps on your next trip to Disney World or Disneyland.

Disney Vacation Club has just announced that sales for the all-new Riviera Resort are now open exclusively for Disney Vacation Club Member until April 15th, 2019, after which the sales will be open to the general public. This unique accommodation inspired by the enchantment of the European Riviera and imagined by Disney is projected to open on December 16th 2019. Terri Schultz, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Disney Vacation Club describe the Riviera Resort as a “delight for families” due to its “gorgeous architectural details and the wide range of accommodations”, but most of all, “members and guests will simply fall in love with the sights, sounds and flavours of Europe around every corner”. The inspiration of this resort is based upon “Walt and Lillian Disney’s amazing European travels, connecting Disney artistry and storytelling to this region’s renowned art heritage and inspiration”. The team at Disney Vacation Club “can’t wait to welcome families to this relaxing destination inspired by the world-famous sun-drenched Mediterranean Coastline.”

This deluxe Disney Vacation Club resort is suggested to offer approximately 300 family vacation homes with accommodation options to suit a range of travel party needs. Disney’s Riviera Resort will include deluxe studios, one- and two-bedroom villas, grand villas which will sleep up to 12 guests each, and new, unique accommodation, Tower Studios.

Tower Studios is a new chic, space for two guests, located in the tower section of the resort. Tower Studios will provide an upscale studio experience for guests which maximizes efficiency. Such as the queen-size bed housed in a built-in wall unit that can be pulled down for sleeping but stylishly tucked away to reveal a comfortable lounge space. This elegant lounge area will include a sofa, a quaint writing nook, a beverage centre and microwave, as well as, plentiful storage and a bright, modern bathroom. Both throughout the resort as well as inside the accommodations, guests will experience a variety of art including Disney concept art with European settings, posters of Disney films released in Europe, as well as archival photography of Walt Disney’s travels throughout Europe and the book titles he gathered on his journeys. Likewise, there will be over 40 signature art pieces created specifically for Disney’s Riviera Resort featuring unique Disney character art inspired by the renowned artistic talent and heritage found along the European Riviera.

This new resort styled in the early 20th-century and inspired by Europe and the Mediterranean coastline will feature a palm tree-lined boulevard with a breathtaking façade featuring rand archways, porticos, cascading water features, and towers and terraces. Disney’s Riviera Pools will continue the Southern European theme.

Disney’s Riviera will have two pools; Riviera Pool is the feature pool, transporting guests to the Mediterranean coast with relaxing lounge chairs with colourful parasols, with a winding stone turret slide. There will also be an interactive water play area for young guests called S’il Vous Play, a perfect way to cool down from the hot sun and have fun with a whimsical fountain featuring beloved characters from Disney “Fantasia”. This play area has drawn inspiration from the grand public fountains seen throughout Europe with a patina and limestone-inspired design. The Beau Soleil leisure pool is for guests looking for a more leisurely, semi-private poolside experience. The pool is situated in a grove of tropical palm trees surrounded by a natural, green wall perfect for creating a restful pool experience.

Guests staying at the resort will have a new way to travel to Disney’s Epcot and Hollywood Studio via the Disney Skyline. This method of transport will not only efficiently move guests to their location but will also offer a whole new way to experience Walt Disney World Resort with breathtaking views available only from the sky! Guests staying at Disney’s Riviera Resort will be connected to dedicated stations where they can aboard the Disney Skyline gondola. This mode of transport will be operating later this fall/ autumn. Some of the Skyline cabins will be decorated with beautiful Disney graphics based on beloved Disney films, attractions and characters. Once aboard, guests will enjoy this European-inspired ride through the sky to Epcot International Gateway or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney’s Riviera Resort will also feature many ways for guests to enjoy dining, from signature dining experiences to quick service options within the resort and poolside. Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera, perched on the rooftop, will feature authentic dishes infused with French and Italian flavors, with an onstage kitchen featuring a wood burning grill showcasing finely prepared meats and seafood. The culinary team will be handcrafting artisanal pastas tossed with fresh pressed olive oil. A gourmet selection of cheeses from France and Italy will also be featured. This restaurant will also have an impressive collection of wines sourced throughout the South of France and Coastal Italy.

Guests stepping into Topolino’s Terrace- Flavors of the Riviera, will be surrounded by stunning aesthetics based upon modern Italian and French textures, colours and carvings alongside stonework in homage to ancient European villages along the Riviera. The terrace will boast a grand view of the resort’s stunning vistas as well as inviting guests to capture the nighttime spectaculars of nearby Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Alternatively, guests can begin their magical day at Topolino’s Terrace- Flavors of the Riviera for special Disney character dining, with exclusive character experiences, inspired by the Riviera.

For guests wishing for refreshments closer to the pools, the Bar Riva is an open-air pool bar with a seaside décor. Guests will experience a relaxing European coast vibe by the poolside. Disneyland Paris’ Hip-Hop Live Experience is returning over two special evenings, offering guests an explosive mix of urban entertainment from singers, street artists, dancers, beatboxers to DJs and more! Immersing guests in Hip-Hop culture with two exclusive concerts bringing together the finest French Hip-Hop artists of the moment.

Two special concerts have a different line-up for each evening:
Friday, 7 June:

Check Out The New Mac & Cheese Food Truck At Disney Springs!

The Mac & Cheese Food Truck will be dishing up cheesy goodness for lunch and dinner at the Disney Springs. The Food Truck Park on the Springs’ West Side is home to the new restaurant on wheels. They’re serving up quite a few unique versions of the classic Mac & Cheese.

Sizeable servings of cheesy goodness range in price from $8-$13 and bottled beverages are also available at the food truck.

Let jump in with the Barbecue Brisket Macaroni & Cheese. Smoky Gouda and Cheddar cheeses are combined with a sweet BBQ brisket and topped off with onion rings.

Next up is the Six-Cheese Crunchy Macaroni & Cheese. This unique dish combines cavatappi spiral pasta with a special blend of 6 creamy kinds of cheese, topped with Cheetos cheese curls.

The priciest dish on the menu is the Lobster and Shrimp Macaroni & Cheese. Shredded lobster and chunks of shrimp combine with sharp cheddar and swiss to make a melt in your mouth mix. Its served with a sprinkling of chives and some butter crackers to soak up that cheesy sauce.

The Bacon Cheeseburger Macaroni & Cheese is just that. A bacon cheeseburger, with all the fixin’s and mac & cheese mixed in. Cheddar and American mac & cheese are topped with bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and crispy potato sticks!

Last, but certainly not least, is the Chicken Parmesan Macaroni & Cheese. Macaroni in a garlic alfredo cheese sauce is topped with breaded chicken, sweet marinara, micro basil greens, and Italian croutons. Yum!

Disney’s Live Action Dumbo Soars into theaters and into our hearts

Tim Burton’s new live-action Dumbo has just soared into theaters and is on it’s way to becoming Disney’s newest masterpiece.

Read on for our spoiler-free review.

The visually stunning handcrafted sets matched with the incredible CGI created a timeless setting for a family heartwarming story. There are nostalgic hints at the 1941 animated version throughout this retelling that make this film great for all ages. Tim Burton’s reimagining of Dumbo is truly breathtaking and I am a HUGE Tim Burton fan!

All the actors gave from Michael Keaton to Danny DeVito gave outstanding performances. The kids were a joy to watch, especially when interacting with Dumbo.

Colleen Atwood made sure the costumes while classic matched the grandeur of the big top.

From Dumbo taking flight, to the real connections we feel with these new characters, every moment is paired with the mesmerizing score of the incredible Danny Elfman. Elfman has taken familiar melodies that we know and love and has made them even more magnificent for the big screen.

Dumbo leaves us with a great heartfelt message, not too weepy like the original and is the family film to watch this spring, overall what a magical film!

Angelina Jolie Rumored to be Joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Could Angelina Jolie be the first actress cast for a starring role in Marvel Studios, The Eternals?

It appears so! The actress, best known by Disney fans as Maleficient in the live action adaption of Sleeping Beauty called Maleficent, has been in talks with Marvel Studios for what appears to be a starring role in the upcoming film, The Eternals, by Marvel Studios.

For those who are not as familiar with the comics and Marvel lore, The Eternals were a group of beautiful, godlike, and good aligned beings created by the Celestials. We have seen one Celestial, or more accurately the remains of one, previously in The Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity War. Remember “Knowhere”? The floating head in space with the mining facility and the home of The Collector? That is what we are referring to here. Needless to say they were very, very big and very powerful.

Kevin Fiege, of Marvel Studios, has said that the Eternals and Celestials do exist outside of the current continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and live for eons. Meaning an Eternals based film could take place much earlier that the current flow of the MCU or much later and in a very different place than we are used to seeing on screen.

Looking at the comics, we do know who the main nemisis of the Eternals are, and that is the Deviants. The Deviants believe they have the rightful claim to Earth and should be allowed to consume the planet and anything on it. This could be the main focus for the film, but only time will tell what these greater beings will be up to on the big screen.

A formal statement has yet to be released by either Angelina Jolie or Marvel Studios about the potential casting for the upcoming Marvel Studios film, The Eternals. Be sure to check back here at Chip & Co. for the latest Marvel News!
