Flood Watch Issued Today for Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort
Visitors to Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort should prepare for potential heavy rainfall today, as a Flood Watch has been issued for Central Florida, including Orange and Osceola counties, where the popular theme parks are located.
The National Weather Service issued the watch just before 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15th, and it remains in effect until 8 p.m. ET. The watch extends to surrounding counties including Seminole, Lake, Volusia, and Brevard.
A Flood Watch indicates that conditions are favorable for flooding. Should a Flood Warning be issued, it means flooding is imminent or already occurring.
The National Weather Service warns that “excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.”
Western Florida, in particular, is bracing for significant rainfall through Thursday, July 17th, with expected totals of 2-4 inches, and higher amounts possible in some areas.
For guests at the theme parks, these weather conditions could lead to disruptions such as the cancellation of outdoor entertainment and the temporary closure of outdoor attractions. Visitors are advised to stay informed about weather updates and park announcements throughout the day.

The display can be found inside the Golden Horseshoe. A table is set up to the right and in front of the stage. The table is roped off so guests can’t get too close.
The cake is a stunning, multi-tiered white wedding cake. It is intricately decorated with delicate white frosting details adorning the edges of each tier. The upper sections of the cake feature elegant white, possibly sugar-crafted, bird figures, and the very top is crowned with a large, elaborate white ribbon. Next to the cake is a serving knife and fork set on a plate.
Also displayed on the table are photos of Walt and Lillian. One is of the couple in front of Sleeping Beauty castle and the other is from Walt & Lillian’s 30th anniversary celebration inside the Golden Horseshoe.
During a recent media preview of the upcoming “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” attraction at Disneyland Park, it was revealed that Disney CEO Bob Iger now narrates the version of “Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream” featured within the show. Guests will also hear Iger personally introduce the groundbreaking Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic figure.
The documentary, “Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream,” previously had a run at Disney California Adventure, playing from December 5, 2001, to April 6, 2005, within the Disney Animation building. Initially narrated by then-CEO Michael Eisner, the film was later updated with narration by actress Julie Andrews following Eisner’s departure. Today, guests visiting Walt Disney World can still experience the documentary at Walt Disney Presents in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Beyond narrating the updated 24-year-old documentary for “Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” Bob Iger also introduces the new Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic figure during the show, which appears after the film concludes.
New Signage Installed at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Welcomes Guests to “Cabins & Campsites”
Howdy, partners! There’s a fresh look out at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, and it’s bringing a little extra pixie dust to the frontier. A brand-new sign has been installed above the Reception Outpost entrance, welcoming guests to the newly reimagined “Cabins & Campsites”—and this time, it’s got that Disney Vacation Club sparkle.
The updated sign is a rustic refresh that stays true to Fort Wilderness’s charming log cabin aesthetic. While the shape and wood texture remain the same as the previous version, the lettering now pops with colorful updates: “Fort Wilderness” is painted in yellow, “Reception Outpost” in blue, and the big, bold center text reads “Cabins & Campsites” in crisp white lettering. But the biggest change? A vibrant red plaque at the bottom features the Disney Vacation Club globe logo and “Disney Vacation Club” spelled out in cheerful yellow.
This update isn’t just cosmetic—it reflects the resort’s evolving offerings. As you may remember, the original cabins at Fort Wilderness were officially retired and replaced with brand-new DVC cabins last year. These sleek yet rustic accommodations give guests the cozy comforts of the wilderness with upgraded amenities and a homey vibe that blends classic charm with modern convenience.
The sign may seem like a small change, but it marks a big moment for Fort Wilderness as it leans more into its dual identity as a resort for both traditional campground guests and Disney Vacation Club members. Whether you’re rolling in with your RV or checking into a DVC cabin, this new sign is the official welcome mat to your great outdoors escape—Disney style.
New Italian Dishes at Catalina Eddie’s Serve Up Some Surprisingly Saucy Fare at Hollywood Studios
Move over Pizza Rizzo, Catalina Eddie’s just got a little more mamma mia with the addition of three new Italian-inspired menu items, and we swung by Disney’s Hollywood Studios to dig in. Located on Sunset Boulevard near Rosie’s All-American Café, Catalina Eddie’s may be known for its quick-service simplicity, but its latest additions hint at a flavorful pivot (possibly to fill the void left by the closures of Pizza Rizzo and Mama Melrose’s).
Here’s what we tried—and why we might be back for seconds.
🍝 Chicken Parmesan with Marinara Pasta – $13.29 This hearty plate features a breaded chicken cutlet on a bed of marinara-smothered pasta, paired with a slice of garlic bread. We were pleasantly surprised! The chicken was moist, not rubbery (a common pitfall in theme park quick service), and the marinara sauce packed a decent punch—with visible tomato chunks. If you’re not a fan of chunky sauces, this might be a pass, but for us, it added texture and depth. The garlic bread? Not exactly bursting with garlic, but buttery and warm, it definitely didn’t hurt the overall experience.
🍝 Alfredo Basil Chicken Pasta – $13.29 If marinara’s not your style, Catalina Eddie’s is also offering a basil-infused Alfredo version. While we did not enjoy this one as much as the Chicken Parmesan, it will likely be a hit with the Alfredo fans in your dining party!
🍰 Cookies and Cream Cannoli – $5.29 A cannoli at a theme park quick-service window? Let’s go! While the flavor was decent, with a lightly spiced cream (somewhere between cinnamon and coffee) and sweet chocolate chips on the edges, the shell left us wanting more crunch. It was soft, almost like a cookie that had been sitting in the Florida sun too long. Still, for a quick sweet treat, it’s not a bad option.
Overall Thoughts Is Catalina Eddie’s becoming the de facto Italian spot at Hollywood Studios now that some of its neighbors have shuttered? It sure seems like it. The new items add welcome variety, especially if you’re craving pasta over burgers and fries. The Chicken Parm is definitely the standout—flavorful, filling, and perhaps just the carb-load you need to power through a full day in the parks.
Brian Henson Weighs In on the Closure of MuppetVision 3D
Cue the sad trombone and one last splash from the fountain—Muppet Vision 3D is officially curtains at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But according to Brian Henson, son of the legendary Jim Henson and chairman of The Jim Henson Company, the show may not be gone forever.
In a recent interview with Theater Mania, Brian shared some bittersweet insight into the beloved attraction’s closure and future potential. While he didn’t confirm anything concrete, his words give fans a glimmer of hope. “They wrapped it up in the way Disney does,” Henson explained, noting that all the animatronics were carefully packed and the show itself was fully recorded. “So, theoretically, they could bring it back out if they wanted to at some point.”
MuppetVision 3D officially closed on June 7, 2025, bringing an end to a legacy that began with its opening in May 1991—just one year after Jim Henson’s passing. This zany, heartfelt show was one of the last projects Henson worked on, and it quickly became a staple at the park, delivering chaotic charm to hundreds of guests every hour. The theater and surrounding Muppets Courtyard—including PizzeRizzo, Gonzo’s Royal Flush, and Studio 1 Company Store—have all shuttered to make way for the new Monsters, Inc.-themed land.
As for the Muppets’ next act? They’re reportedly moving down the street—literally—to take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. The current Aerosmith-themed ride will be reimagined with Doctor Teeth and the Electric Mayhem stepping into the spotlight. When asked about this retheme, Brian Henson seemed as in the dark as the rest of us: “You’d have to ask them. I don’t know what they’re telling people.”
Main Street Opera House Unveils New Exhibits Honoring Walt Disney and Disneyland’s Dream
New gallery experiences are set to open within the Main Street Opera House on July 17, 2025, commemorating the 70th anniversary of Disneyland Park. These extensive exhibits will honor Walt Disney and his profound, lasting impact on the Disneyland Resort and on dreamers across the globe.
Visitors will explore hundreds of images, pieces of art, and artifacts that chronicle Walt’s illustrious career, from his early days to the present celebration of 70 years of The Happiest Place on Earth. The journey through these historical mementos and representations of his enduring legacy culminates with the all-new attraction, “Walt Disney – A Magical Life,” inviting guests to step into Walt’s office to receive words of wisdom, fostering a deeper understanding of his remarkable passion and talent for transforming imagination into reality.
Upon entering the Main Street Opera House lobby, you’ll get to experience the “Evolution of a Dream.” Pieces throughout this front section of the lobby illustrate how Disneyland grew from an idea Walt had while spending time with his daughters to become the theme park that changed the world, bringing happiness to generations of visitors.
Walt Disney Imagineering and the Walt Disney Archives curated relics and memorabilia from the early stages of Disneyland, including pencil drawings and concept artwork of preliminary plans. Some of the site plans on display in this space have never before been seen publicly!
Banners representing lands of Disneyland hang from above, and beneath them are images and storyboards showing both past and present, from concept through to what they are today.
You’ll even find treasures and vintage merchandise from the earliest days of the park. A display of Mickey ears through the years pays tribute to the accessory that has become an iconic element of theme park style, and a case of Disney watches offers a glimpse at fashion trends from the past 70 years, with some added pixie dust.
Artifacts on Display from The Walt Disney Family Museum
As you continue through the Opera House, you’ll find a selection of pieces from The Walt Disney Family Museum, which has loaned more than 30 artifacts for display. Some of these have never been publicly exhibited at Disneyland before.
A truly special area is dedicated to Walt’s private apartment in Disneyland. Walt knew he would be spending lots of time in Disneyland in the early years of the park, so he built a small apartment for himself and his family above the Town Square Fire Station.
This display includes original furniture and décor from the apartment, including two rocking chairs, two dining chairs, a table and a cranberry-colored lamp.
Nearby, you can also take a closer look at some of Walt’s awards and humanitarian accolades on loan from The Walt Disney Family Museum.
Theseinclude Walt’s 1955 Emmy award for the “Walt Disney’s Disneyland” television series, his Presidential Medal of Freedom awarded by President Johnson in 1964, and the Walt Disney Commemorative Medal presented to Lillian Disney by President Nixon in 1969.
Even his plaque from the Racing Pigeon Association in recognition of the greatest contribution to the sport of racing pigeons is on display.
History of Audio-Animatronics Technology in Walt’s Time
As you move further into the lobby, you’ll find an exhibit showcasing the history of Audio-Animatronics storytelling featuring original and replica figures dating back to Walt Disney Imagineering’s earliest development of the technology.
Audio-Animatronics figures were first formally introduced to Disneyland in 1963, when Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room opened with hundreds of talking birds, singing flowers and chanting tikis. Two animated birds are included in this space.
You’ll also see a doll from the original run of “it’s a small world” at the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair, figures from Pirates of the Caribbean and more. This area, including the beautiful portraits along the wall, provides a closer look at Walt’s passion for working alongside Disney Imagineers and breaking technological boundaries.
In this area, you may also view a heartfelt video called “Memories of Walt,” in which those who worked alongside Walt Disney — and those inspired by his vision — share personal stories and reflections. Through touching anecdotes and memories, they offer a rare glimpse into Walt’s character and the man behind the magic.
It’s a fitting tribute, as you prepare to enter the Opera House theater to view the first-ever Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt in the attraction “Walt Disney – A Magical Life.”
A Tribute to Disneyland Past, Present and Future
After experiencing the attraction, you’ll exit the theater and notice a tribute to Disneyland cast members who have brought magic to life for 70 years. Historical images adorn the walls, showcasing cast members at work through the years. On the other side of the exit lobby is a stunning mural paying tribute to Disneyland history, including entertainment and attractions.
Finally, the exit gallery culminates in a peek at the future of Disneyland Resort. With plans for new attractions and guest experiences underway, we’re reminded of Walt’s legacy and his belief that Disneyland will never truly be complete so long as imagination is left in the world.
Together, the exhibits and attraction in the Main Street Opera House give visitors at Disneyland the opportunity to know Walt Disney and understand his story, illustrating how one man tirelessly pursued his dream to create a place that has brought happiness to so many.
