Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom has officially closed to undergo a significant refurbishment. The classic Tomorrowland attraction is getting a major update that will include new vehicles, blasters, and targets to enhance the gameplay experience. This closure is in preparation for what promises to be a fresh take on a fan-favorite ride.
Today, the attraction’s entrance doors were closed, with a sign reading “Operations Suspended.”
The sign reads:
“OPERATIONS SUSPENDED
Star Command Code, Section 2-3A.C/D_9V: Crystolic fusion power cells depleted. Initiate immediate Recharge Protocols. All launches postponed until resorce acquisition units return.
PLEASE PROCEED TO ADJACENT MISSION ZONES.”
Additionally, the PeopleMover viewports looking into the attraction have been covered with metal shutters. The adjoining gift shop, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Photos, is also closed for the refurbishment. As a result, Toy Story merchandise has been moved to Tomorrowland Launch Depot, which continues to sell TRON Lightcycle / Run merchandise.
The major overhaul for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom, announced earlier this year, is officially underway. The attraction closed on August 4 and is expected to reopen sometime in 2026.
The updates will introduce several exciting changes, including:
A new scene featuring a new character, Buddy the support-bot.
New ride vehicles inspired by Star Command, complete with video monitors for real-time scoring and other features.
Updated blasters with an always-on laser, new colors, and enhanced light, sound, and haptic feedback.

Debuting in the Jurassic Park area of the park, Dolores is a tiny, wide-eyed herbivore that fans of the franchise will recognize as one of the earliest—and cutest—ceratopsians. She may be small, but this dino brings big charm with her expressive eyes, curious nature, and interactive personality. She’s the kind of prehistoric pal you just want to scoop up and take home (but, you know… theme park rules).
Dolores is part of Universal’s expanding lineup of living, breathing dino encounters in the ever-popular Jurassic Park land at Islands of Adventure. While the towering T. rex and cunning raptors usually get all the attention, Dolores is here to prove that sometimes the tiniest dinos leave the biggest footprints on our hearts.
