Disneyland Paris is now conducting drop tests for its new Lion King attraction, a water flume ride that will be similar to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

A recent Instagram video shows ride vehicles for the new Lion King attraction undergoing their first drop tests. These tests are being conducted behind the scenes in a separate area, and it remains unclear whether the testing is for the main drop or a smaller one that may occur elsewhere on the ride.

The new Lion King attraction, which does not yet have an official name, will be a water flume ride similar to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The boats are designed to carry 12 guests, a greater capacity than many other boat attractions at Disney World and Disneyland. These test vehicles appear to be much larger than what was shown in the original concept art.

A recently approved permit has revealed new details for the Pride Lands-themed area, which will include a covered Lion King attraction, a retail store, a food kiosk with covered seating, guest restrooms, and an outdoor character meet-and-greet space. The full project area will be approximately 327,000 square feet.

The two-level show building will feature exterior openings and be divided into four distinct areas: a covered exterior queue, the attraction with its indoor queue and loading areas, a retail store, and technical rooms for Cast Members. To create an immersive Pride Lands experience, the landscape will include newly-planted trees, stamped concrete replicating the savanna, and sculpted rock motifs.
