Poseidonโs Fury Construction Walls at Islands of Adventure Quickly Come Down
Well, that was fast. Earlier this month, construction walls suddenly appeared near the exit of the long-closed Poseidonโs Fury attraction in Universalโs Islands of Adventure. But just days later, the walls have already been removed, and the area looks virtually unchanged.

When the barriers went up, speculation ran wild that demolition work was finally about to begin at the Lost Continent site. After all, Universal recently filed a permit to clear five acres in the area and even confirmed there would be โconstruction activityโ in Lost Continent. But with the walls now gone, the facade of the ruined temple remains as it has for years, still standing but blocked by a simple temporary barrier.
For now, the only active construction walls in the land are on the bridge connecting Seuss Landing to Lost Continent. The rest of the area remains in limbo.

The Lost Continent has a rich but shrinking history inside Islands of Adventure. Once made up of three themed areas โ Merlinwood, Sindbadโs Bazaar, and the Lost City โ the land has steadily been reduced as other franchises expanded. Merlinwood became part of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in 2010, while Sindbadโs stunt show closed in 2018. Poseidonโs Fury, the walkthrough adventure through Atlantis-style ruins, officially closed in May 2023 after years as one of the last remnants of the land.
With Sindbadโs Bazaar partially dressed up earlier this year to tie into the How to Train Your Dragon remake, and Universal eyeing major changes with its latest permits, it feels like only a matter of time before Lost Continentโs days are numbered. But for now, fans hoping to see demolition equipment in action will have to keep waiting.
