The first night to vanish was opening evening, November 7th, followed quickly by the November 10th party. As expected, the grand finale closest to Christmas — December 21st — is now off the table too. Ticket prices this year range between $169 and $229 depending on the night, making it one of the priciest special events Disney offers. Annual Passholders do get a small break with a $10 discount on select November dates, but December parties are full price for everyone.

It’s been 9 years since we met Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde in the blockbuster Zootopia. Now, in the highly anticipated sequel, Zootopia 2 (opening November 26), little time has passed since they became the Zootopia Police Department’s first bunny and fox police officers. The newly released trailer also features the original song “Zoo,” performed by Shakira, who returns to voice the character Gazelle.

“In the first film, they were partners for about 48 hours, so there’s a lot more they need to learn about each other,” said writer and director Jared Bush, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios. “They made it over that first hurdle, but now they have to figure out if they’re really designed to function as a team in the long run. Judy and Nick are very different, and in this film, they’re thrust into a very different scenario that challenges them.”

Director Byron Howard shared that they wanted to maintain the core of the main characters, stating, “We didn’t want Nick to lose all his sharpness and snark. We wanted Judy to keep her idealism. They’re smart characters, so they’re constantly able to one-up each other. People loved their dynamic in Zootopia, so we wanted to continue that.”

Zootopia 2 picks up right where the first film left off, with Judy and Nick navigating the challenges of their new partnership. Just as they begin to make progress, they are drawn into a decades-old mystery involving Zootopia’s most prominent family, the Lynxleys, and get mixed up with Gary De’Snake (voiced by Ke Huy Quan)—the first snake to be seen in the animal city in over 100 years.

“Reptiles weren’t in the first film,” writer Jared Bush added. “We wanted to use the contrast of mammals and reptiles to highlight that Judy and Nick are very different… How can they all coexist?”

When an unsanctioned sting goes sideways, Judy (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick (voiced by Jason Bateman) become fugitives themselves. Together, they go undercover in unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before.

“Some of us are better at being undercover than others — and I don’t mean Judy!” Goodwin quipped. “Nick used to be a con artist, so he’s definitely better than Judy at this.”

Each possesses qualities the other lacks, and that’s what makes them such a dynamic duo. “Judy and Nick developed such a good rapport in the first movie, but now their partnership is going to be tested in an exciting and surprising way,” said head of story Carrie Liao. “Every relationship evolves. What does it reallymean to be partners? There’s a big mystery at the center of Zootopia 2, but at its core, this story is about Judy and Nick’s relationship.”

Universal Settles Stardust Racers Lawsuit Days After Filing

Universal Orlando has quietly settled a negligence lawsuit tied to Stardust Racers, the high-speed roller coaster at Epic Universe already under scrutiny following a recent guest death.

The suit was brought by 49-year-old Sandi Streets, who claimed she suffered serious injuries while riding Stardust Racers during a special preview on April 30, weeks before the park’s May 22 grand opening. Streets alleged her head shook violently during the ride, slamming into the headrest, and that Universal failed to properly restrain her. According to her filing, the incident left her with disability, mounting medical expenses, lost wages, and a worsening of a preexisting condition.

Her attorneys from Spetsas-Buist law firm sought $50,000 in damages and requested a jury trial. Yet Orange County court records now show the case ended almost as quickly as it began. Filed on September 24, the lawsuit was marked “Notice of Settlement and Voluntary Dismissal” by September 26. The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.

This settlement comes just as Stardust Racers remains shuttered following the September 17 death of 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, who suffered “multiple blunt impact injuries” after riding the attraction. Zavala was found unresponsive at the ride’s conclusion and later pronounced dead at the hospital. His family has retained civil rights attorney Ben Crump but has not yet filed a lawsuit. Meanwhile, Orange County deputies are continuing a manslaughter investigation under Florida law.

Universal has stated that ride systems were operating normally and that Team Members followed all safety procedures. Florida regulators’ early findings reportedly align with that assessment. Still, with two high-profile legal cases tied to the same ride in less than two weeks, the coaster’s future will remain under the microscope until the investigations conclude.

For now, Stardust Racers continues to sit idle in Epic Universe’s Celestial Park, where guests pass by the “Closed Today” sign and await word on when – or if – the attraction will reopen.

Guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom will notice a minor change to the exterior of the Discovery Trading Company shop on Discovery Island. The park’s flagship merchandise location is currently undergoing an exterior refurbishment.

The good news for shoppers is that the store remains open for business. However, one set of entry doors is temporarily blocked by green scrims and rolling planters. This setup is effectively shielding views of the construction work from guests walking past. Despite the blockage, some of the shop’s iconic theming, including the intricate carvings and lanterns, remain visible and intact.

The rolling planters extend around the corner of the building, with the scrims wrapped tightly around columns at either end of the row.

Inside the Shop

On the interior of Discovery Trading Company, the now-blocked set of doors is closed off. An A-frame sign from Facility Asset Management is propped in front, featuring a common message found during Disney park refurbishments:

Adding to the sense of ongoing work, it was also noted that no music was playing inside the shop during this time.
