Mickey’s Toontown to Reopen at Disneyland on March 8th, 2023
We have great news to share this morning in honor of Mickey Mouse’s Birthday! Mickey’s Toontown is set to Reopen at Disneyland on March 8th, 2023!
The reimagined Mickey’s Toontown will provide open, grassy play spaces for everyone to unwind, starting with CenTOONial Park, the first space guests will see when they enter the land. CenTOONial Park will be anchored by two new interactive play experiences; a beautiful fountain featuring water tables designed for play that invite guests to have a sensory experience, plus a nearby dreaming tree with sculpted tree roots providing an opportunity for children to crawl and explore.
We were able to get a closer look at the transformation of Mickey’s Toontown at the D23 Expo!
Here’s a look at more of what you can expect when Toontown reopens on March 8th!
Mickey’s Toontown will be home to the new attraction, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Inside the El CapiTOON Theater, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will put you in the wacky and unpredictable cartoon world of Mickey and Minnie, where you’ll board a train with Goofy as the engineer. One magical moment after the next leads you to a zany, out-of-control adventure filled with surprising twists and turns that the entire family will enjoy!
Over in Goofy’s neck of the woods, you’ll find Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard, as shown in this new aerial rendering of the area.
Dedicated to all things play, Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard incorporates a whimsical sound garden where kids will discover new ways to make wacky noises, as well as enjoy an all-new, elevated clubhouse.
When you step inside Goofy’s House, you’ll find a fun, interactive candy-making contraption that only Goofy could imagine! The confectionery contraption begins high outside of Goofy’s home, as drips of honey fall from a beehive onto a chute that slides the colorful drops around and down into the home. From there, junior candy makers will help Goofy make the candy, and the silly sounds of household appliances will combine to make a truly Goofy symphony.
Donald’s Boat will be perched in the duck pond of the Goof homestead. Imagine larger-than-life spinning water lilies, balance beams, and rocking toys at Donald’s Duck Pond that will help little ones get the wiggles out. Kids will definitely love making a splash in this space! You also can look into the boat through the portholes to witness bubbles of fun inside the flooded vessel and interact with some familiar ducklings including Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby.
You can also head over to Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster, where Mickey’s Toontown’s favorite tinkerer, Gadget Hackwrench, has created a one-of-a-kind, fun-sized coaster for the town’s tiniest citizens.
And at Mickey’s House and Minnie’s House, you’ll once again be able to step right into their homes and enjoy a self-guided tour as you discover special surprises in every room. You may even be able to visit with Mickey and Minnie while you’re there, should they be home!
Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spinwill also return, where you can board Lenny the Cab and spin through the streets and alleys of Toontown as you follow the adventures of Roger Rabbit.
And when you feel a snack attack coming on, you’ll be able to turn to two new places to appease your appetites in the land: Café Daisy, where acclaimed culinary expert, Daisy Duck, serves up diner classics at her sidewalk table eatery; and the Toontown Farmers Market at Good Boy! Grocers, a friendly roadside stand, offering grab-and-go drinks and treats.

Be sure to stay tuned to Chip and Company for more information about the transformation of Mickey’s Toontown as we get closer to March 8. And in the meantime, please join us in wishing our beloved Mickey and Minnie a very happy birthday!
Both a Theme Park reservation and valid admission for the same Park on the same day are required for Park entry. Park reservations are limited, subject to availability and not guaranteed. Visit Disneyland.com/updates for important information to know before visiting the Disneyland Resort.

Tron Lightcycle Run Ride Testing Continues Non-Stop. For the past few days, we have been at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. While we have been in Tomorrowland, we witnessed Disney’s Newest Roller Coaster testing non-stop. Due to opening this coming Spring 2023, Disney is moving along with work. With new landscaping installed, lighting, walkways, and theming elements,
If you happen to visit the park, check out the coaster testing. You will witness the cars going all day long. They are normally spread out by about 45 seconds to 1 minute. One of the biggest takeaways we have about the coaster is how quiet it really is. You can feel the rumble of the cars coming down the track, but very little audible noise.
Lean forward into the ultimate race of survival! Leave the real world behind and join Team Blue in an epic quest across the Grid—the dark, computerized world with no horizons from TRON. Here, there’s no limit to the excitement.
Climb aboard your very own Lightcycle and take off on a high-speed adventure, racing against the Grid’s most menacing Programs. Surge past your fierce opponents as you attempt to cross through 8 Energy Gates and secure your team’s victory—so you can survive to race another day.
Scheduled to open in Spring 2023, TRON Lightcycle / Run will be one of the fastest coasters at any Disney theme park in the world.
From the Big Screen to the Theme Park
In 1982, Disney made filmmaking history with TRON, the first production of its kind to mix live action with computer-generated visuals and backlit animation. This iconic film went on to inspire video games, comic books, an animated series, and the 2010 sequel TRON: Legacy—as well as this new Disney theme park attraction.
Magic Kingdom’s Power And Light Co Building Construction Not Complete Opening Delayed. Originally scheduled to reopen on November 8th, according to the Walt Disney World Website, that reopening did not happen. Furthermore, it is not even close to being done.
Tomorrowland Light and Power Co was/is the exit and gift shop for Disney’s Space Mountain Roller Coaster ride. It has been under refurbishment for a few months now and has been closed. The exit to Space Mountain has been rerouted during this construction.
In images released by Disney for the Tron Lightcycle/ Run, you will see that the gift shop has a new facade and looks to be the exit for Disney’s Coaster. I would look for the exit to both Space Mountian and the new Tron Coaster to reopen now closer to the opening time of Tron which is due in spring 2023.
Pixar is introducing its next animated feature with the first teaser trailer for Elemental.
“Elemental” is set in a world where the four classic elements — fire, earth, water and air — are alive and coexist. The two main characters, Wade and fiery Ember, are both young adults living in the city who meet each other and quickly bump heads.
In spite of their fundamental differences, however, the two develop a connection as they realize they have deeper similarities than what’s on the outside.
With elements at the film’s core, the production design does “explore other elements including fire effects.”
You can watch the teaser trailer in the video link below.
Elemental, which was properly unveiled earlier this year, is Pixar’s only release planned for 2023. It’s being helmed by The Good Dinosaur director Peter Sohn and is due to be released on June 16th, 2023.
Jodi Benson Surprises Audience During ‘Disney Princess: The Concert’ Tour
Thirty-three years ago today, Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” from Walt Disney Animation Studios made a big splash in theaters, introducing us all to the beloved Princess Ariel. Since then, Disney Legend Jodi Benson, who lent her voice as the original speaking and singing voice of Ariel in the classic animated film, continues to carry-on Ariel’s courage, kindness and inclusivity to all.
During a recent visit to Walt Disney World Resort, Jodi surprised one lucky audience with a dazzling performance of “Part of Your World,” joining the talented cast of “Disney Princess – The Concert” during their appearance in Orlando, Florida, at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
Disney Princess – The Concert” is a quartet of Broadway and television icons coming together on stage to bring to life the music of the Disney Princesses and Frozen queens. Drama Desk-nominee Christy Altomare (original ‘Anastasia,’ “Mamma Mia!”), Broadway.com Audience Award-nominee Isabelle McCalla (’Princess Jasmine’ in “Aladdin,” “The Prom”), Disney Channel star Anneliese van der Pol (‘Belle’ in “Beauty and the Beast” and ‘Chelsea Daniels’ on “That’s So Raven”/”Raven’s Home”), and Broadway World Award-winner Syndee Winters (‘Nala’ in “The Lion King,” “Hamilton”) combine forces with their magical Music Director, Benjamin Rauhala (“Fiddler on the Roof”) and enchanting Prince, Adam J. Levy (“Moulin Rouge”).
“Disney Princess – The Concert” continues to dazzle audiences across North America in its Fall US 2022 Tour. Trust me, you do not want to miss hearing these gorgeous renditions of classic Disney Princess and Frozen songs performed by an incredibly talented cast of Broadway stars!
This one-time special performance of “Part of Your World” was made extra special by the recent release of Jodi’s new book “Part of My World: What I’ve Learned from ‘The Little Mermaid’ about Love, Faith, and Finding My Voice.” This book is a treasure trove of colorful characters and unforgettable anecdotes and a captivating glimpse behind the curtain at the making of the classic animated film, “The Little Mermaid.”
Jodi feels honored to be part of the legacy of Ariel and is thrilled to see this character reimagined by Halle Bailey in the upcoming live-action film from The Walt Disney Studios, “The Little Mermaid,” releasing to theaters May 26, 2023.
