James Gunn Addresses the Long Runtime of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Next up for the MCU is the final installment of The Guardians of the Galaxy. Director James Gunn has publicly stated that this will be the team’s final film as we know it. Gunn’s final act will run about two and a half hours, and James Gunn says that “not a second is wasted.”
This comes via a tweet from Gunn where he confirmed, “It’s around that long, although that’s not yet exact. And, I promise, not a second is wasted. There’s no fat. It was necessary to experience the full arc for every major Guardians character, not only for this film, but for the trilogy (or, I should say, trilogy plus).”

James Gunn will focus all his attention on revitalizing the DCEU moving forward. So it’s good to hear that Gunn is going all out before departing the MCU. Disney Cruise Line to Bring Magical Cruises to Southeast Asia
Disney Cruise Line and Singapore Tourism Board today announced magical cruise vacations to Southeast Asia for the first time, revealed by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro and Singapore’s Minister for Transport and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, S. Iswaran.
Under a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding, Disney Cruise Line and Singapore Tourism Board agreed to collaborate to homeport a brand-new Disney cruise ship exclusively in Singapore for at least five years beginning in 2025. More details about the maiden voyage, itineraries, and onboard experiences will be announced at a later date.
“This is a very exciting year for The Walt Disney Company — 2023 marks our 100th anniversary,” D’Amaro said. “As part of this, Disney Cruise Line is currently undergoing an ambitious expansion with new ships and new destinations around the world. We are incredibly excited to make Singapore the home port to our seventh-launched ship, which will sail from here year-round starting in 2025.”
“We look forward to welcoming the magic of Disney Cruise Line to Singapore in 2025,” said Keith Tan, Chief Executive of, Singapore Tourism Board (STB). “This is an important milestone for STB and reflects Disney Cruise Line’s strong confidence in Singapore and Southeast Asia. The new Disney cruise ship will be an attraction itself and is expected to boost the tourism sector in Singapore for many years to come.”
Singapore’s strategic location, world-class air connectivity and port infrastructure make it a thriving cruise hub in Southeast Asia, a diverse region that is home to over 40 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The addition of a Disney Cruise Line ship in Singapore has the potential to add millions of local and foreign cruise passengers across the five-year period, including fly-cruise passengers who arrive in Singapore by air. It is also expected to bring about significant spillover benefits for the wider economy. These include greater demand for port and ship-related services, as well as on-ground spending in Singapore for the lifestyle and hospitality sectors.
New Disney Cruise Ship for Families in Southeast Asia
The new ship will feature innovative Disney experiences along with the dazzling entertainment, world-class dining, and legendary guest service that set Disney Cruise Line apart. Guests of all ages will find dedicated spaces and activities designed just for them, and families will create unforgettable memories with beloved characters such as Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse, Disney Princesses, Marvel Super Heroes, and more.
Disney Cruise Line estimates the passenger capacity of the 208,000-gross-ton ship to be approximately 6,000 with around 2,300 crew members. It is expected to be among the first in the cruise industry to be fueled by green methanol, one of the lowest-emission fuels available.
Construction is projected to be completed at the MV Werften shipyard in Wismar, Germany, under the management of Meyer Werft, the Papenburg-based company that built the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy and Disney Wish and is constructing two additional Wish-class ships.

The rumor going around suggests that The Main Street Electrical Parade will return to Disneyland this summer for a seasonal run and then head to Walt Disney World. Then, next year the Paint the Night Parade will return to Disneyland.
The Main Street Electrical Parade last ran at Disneyland in 2022 for the parade’s 50th anniversary. A new float was added to the parade as well. This parade is a classic and many guests beg for it to return to the parks!
The Paint the Night Parade first debuted for the Disneyland 60th anniversary in 2015. It has only ever run at the Disneyland Resort. We haven’t seen it performed since the end of 2018. It was a spectacular nighttime parade and some even like it better than Main Street Electrical Parade!

Disney first shared a look at Minnie’s previous outfits: her captain outfit, beach attire, Alaskan coat, and pirate dress. She didn’t think any of those would be right for the new adventure she will be heading on onboard the Disney Treasure.
Minnie’s new outfit includes a blue jacket, a red and white polka-dot ascot, a safari hat wrapped in a red and white polka-dot ribbon, khaki pants, and brown shoes.

Iger Shuts down Bob Chapek’s Metaverse Division in Disney Layoffs
Disney CEO Bob Iger has started to make the promised strategic cuts to shed salaries. Former CEO Bob Chapek’s “metaverse” division wasn’t far behind their former boss, who left Disney in early 2023. The metaverse project which Chapek called “next-generation storytelling,” was a pet project of the former Disney CEO. The dissolution of the metaverse division was part of the first round of Disney layoffs promised by Iger in an email to staff on March 27th.
Chapek unveiled the metaverse project in a November 2021 earnings call, promising “a time when we’ll be able to connect the physical and digital worlds even more closely, allowing for storytelling without boundaries in our own Disney metaverse, and we look forward to creating unparalleled opportunities for consumers…”
The metaverse division marks the second Chapek-era creation to be undone by Iger. Iger axed the Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution division under Kareem Daniel not long after he assumed control as CEO.
Disney is expected to undergo a series of layoffs until the summer, trimming an estimated 7,000 jobs. A round of cuts on Monday hit Disney’s TV division. Jayne Bieber, senior VP of production at Freeform; Mark Levenstein, head of production at Hulu; and Elizabeth Newman, head of Disney’s acquisitions department were let go from their roles.
While Iger is a technology enthusiast, it appears that at this time, he feels that Disney’s resources and capital are better spent in other areas. Stay tuned for more details on additional Disney layoffs in the coming weeks.
Liv Tyler Will Be Returning as Betty Ross in Captain America New World Order
Fifteen years after appearing in The Incredible Hulk, Liv Tyler will reprise her role as Thaddeus Ross’s Daughter, Betty, in Captain America: New World Order.The Hollywood Reporter broke this news earlier in the week. Harrison Ford will be replacing the late William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross. The last time we saw Liv Tyler in the MCU was in 2008, having not appeared since The Incredible Hulk. Tyler took over the role of Betty from Jennifer Connolly (Hulk, 2003).
Anthony Mackie is taking up the mantle of Captain America for the first time on the big screen. Back again is Carl Lumbly as Isiah Bradley from Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Danny Ramirez will return as Joaquin Torres, and we will also meet newcomer Shira Haas.
Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox) is directing the film and is currently shooting in Atlanta. Malcolm Spellman wrote the script along with Dalan Musson. Marvel said that Captain America: New World Order is releasing in theaters worldwide on May 3, 2024.

The Final Traces of Br’er Rabbit Almost Gone at Splash Mountain. With the coming of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disney’s Magic Kingdom the Southern Dome Salt Company is hard at work transforming the old Splash Mountain.
The Magic Kingdom is about to lose one of its mountains any day now with the removal of the tree, that looks like Br’er Rabbit, at the top of the old ride. Scaffolding is now surrounding the whole work zone and there is not a spot left untouched. The top of the mountain has been in place since opening in 1992.
Giant holes now can be seen in the facade near the drop. The grass is also being removed from the facade. Furthermore, most theming and signs have been removed.
New Monthly Celebrations Revealed for the Disney100 Celebration at Walt Disney World
Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Celebration ends in just a few days. The Disney100 Celebration is already underway at Disneyland and will be starting in April at Walt Disney World.

Later this year, the Disney100 Celebration comes to EPCOT®, inviting you to join in and see the transformation of the Park with all the magic of possibilities. It’s the culmination of the EPCOT® transformation with its multitude of new and fan-favorite experiences. Here’s a glimpse of what to expect:
• A platinum Mickey Mouse sculpture will welcome you to celebrate at EPCOT®.
• Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, opening in late 2023, will allow Guests to explore an outdoor trail in a lush environment that tells the story of the cycle of water.
