Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy Reunite for Cars Lightning Racers
Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy are returning to the Cars franchise in the new Cars: Lightning Racers series! Shifting gears for a new generation, Cars: Lightning Racers is ditching the traditional all-ages approach to focus specifically on Disney’s youngest fans. First teased during a massive wave of Disney Jr. announcements in August 2025, the network has finally unveiled our first official look at the high-speed adventures coming to the preschool lineup.

Get ready for a total Radiator Springs reunion! Disney has confirmed that a massive lineup of the original Cars cast is officially back in the recording booth for this new series. According to Variety, the nostalgic roster of returning voices includes Bonnie Hunt as Sally, Jenifer Lewis as Flo, Guido Quaroni as Guido, Lloyd Sherr as Fillmore, Michael Wallis as Sheriff, and Paul Dooley as Sarge.
These legends join the previously announced leads, Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy, who are once again stepping into their iconic roles as Lightning McQueen and Mater. The star-studded pit crew doesn’t stop there—Tony Shalhoub (Luigi), Cheech Marin (Ramone), Bob Peterson (Chick Hicks), and the legendary John Ratzenberger (Mack) are all confirmed to return to the track!

The newly released still image from the series captures the show’s four-car squad gathered under the iconic blinking stoplight at the Radiator Springs intersection, right outside Luigi’s Casa Della Tires. While franchise legends Lightning McQueen and Mater take center stage, they are joined by two fresh faces: Miles, a rugged green monster truck, and Pipes, a sleek purple drag car.
Fans will notice an immediate shift in style, as the series shifts away from the realistic proportions of the feature films. The characters now sport a charming, “toy-car” aesthetic—smaller and more cartoonish—perfectly designed for the Disney Jr. audience. While the cars have a new look, the world of Radiator Springs remains as vibrant and inviting as ever, with a pop of extra color for the little ones.
Bringing the newcomers to life is an impressive vocal duo: Yuri Lowenthal, a veteran of the Disney voice-acting world, will voice Miles, while Leah Lewis—fresh off her starring turn as Ember in Pixar’s Elemental—steps into the role of Pipes.
Mark your calendars for a high-speed 2027 debut! Cars: Lightning Racers is officially set to race onto Disney+ and Disney Jr. next year.
