We were fortunate enough to view the first two episodes of Loki, courtesy of our friends at Marvel and Disney+, and Marvel fans are you in for a treat! It’s no secret that the series will follow Loki right after his disappearance in Avengers: Endgame, but how has his escape affected the MCU at large? Loki will explore a whole new level of intrigue featured in the Marvel Comics as well as future MCU titles, the idea of a Multiverse, and the Variants that threaten the main timeline.
We are introduced to several new characters throughout the series played by Marvel newcomers Owen Wilson (TVA Agent Mobius), Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Sophia Di Martino, and Richard E Grant. Despite being paired with the well-established Tom Hiddleston, all the newcomers establish themselves as forces that ought not to be messed with, even The God of Mischief.

Owen Wilson and Tom Hiddleston make a wonderful “buddy cop” pair, with both partners trying to establish a leg up on one another throughout the episodes, but we can easily see how this will lead to some more mischief down the line. Adding to the humor of the series is Wunmi Mosaku who, rightly, doesn’t trust Loki as far as she can throw him. The whole cast adds enrichment to the story and helps fans to “catch up” on who and what the Time Variance Authority (TVA) are and why they haven’t intervened in the events of the MCU before.
Tom’s triumphant return as Loki was certainly unexpected before his disappearance in Avengers: Endgame. Now we get a chance to explore who Loki is as a person and why he feels a responsibility overseeing his “glorious purpose” come to fruition. This has given Hiddleston a real chance to shine on screen. Loki is no longer a supporting character or dependant on his brother (or the Avengers) to tell his own story. He can truly step into his own limelight, and face his biggest foe to date.
