‘Old Yeller’ Star and Disney Legend Tommy Kirk Has Passed Away. Disney Legend Tommy Kirk is best known by Disney fans for starring in films and shows such as Old Yeller, The Mouseketeers, Swiss Family Robinson, Babes in Toyland, The Hardy Boys, The Mickey Mouse Club, and The Magical World of Disney. Kirk was made a Disney Legend in 2006 for his tenure with Disney throughout the 50s and 60s and is credited with performances in 56 titles throughout his acting career including Little Miss Magic, Pajama Party, The Monkey’s Uncle, and many more.

D23 shared the news of his passing, sharing: “Tommy Kirk, the beloved and iconic star of such Disney family favorites from the 1950s and 1960s as Old Yeller, The Shaggy Dog, Swiss Family Robinson, and The Misadventures of Merlin Jones, passed away at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Tuesday, September 28, at the age of 79. Kirk was named a Disney Legend—the prestigious honor bestowed upon individuals in recognition of their extraordinary contributions to The Walt Disney Company—in 2006.“
