Disney’s New Monsters, Inc. Land at Hollywood Studios May Officially Be Called “Monstropolis”
It looks like the monster-sized project already taking shape at Disney’s Hollywood Studios just got a name. Disney has officially filed a new trademark for “Monstropolis,” the city from Monsters, Inc., strongly hinting that this will be the title of the park’s upcoming land based on the Pixar favorite.

While construction has been visibly underway in the former Muppets Courtyard area and surrounding backstage space, this trademark marks the first clear indication of how Disney intends to brand the new expansion. “Monstropolis” isn’t just any title—it’s the home of Mike, Sulley, and Boo in the films, making it a fitting name for a land designed to drop guests right into the heart of the monster world.
Permits and site work have already pointed to a massive show building themed to the Monsters, Inc. door factory, rumored to contain a next-generation suspended coaster recreating the iconic chase through the swinging doors. The land is also expected to include a new stage show replacing Muppet*Vision 3D, a reimagined PizzeRizzo, and the debut of Harryhausen’s, the film’s fan-favorite sushi spot.

Even with all the ongoing construction, Disney has yet to officially announce the project—meaning this “Monstropolis” trademark may be our biggest clue yet that the monsters’ world will be coming to life under that name. It’s a move that lines up perfectly with Disney’s trend of creating immersive lands directly tied to their on-screen counterparts, like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land.
