No one was expecting 2020 to be a year of immense change. Even the theme park industry found themselves under pressure to adapt by rescheduling plans. However, there is some measure of hope in the horizon. Those traveling to Orlando’s theme parks in 2021 can expect to find new attractions at Disney World and Universal Orlando!
Universal Orlando
First, Universal Orlando is planning on giving us an exciting new thrill ride at Islands of Adventure.
Universal released a statement about the coaster, “Step into Jurassic Park and stand in awe and wonder at a land transformed by science after 65 million years. But don’t be deceived by the island’s beauty because danger lurks behind every corner. Only here can you live the adventure of coming face to face with giant creatures of the Earth’s past, encounter raptors roaming every day, or take a daring raft expedition through jungles teeming with dinosaurs.”
For those brave enough to visit the raptor paddock, you may be able to carefully approach one of these deadly predators. Then feel the rush of the hunt as you race through the jungle alongside raptors on the Jurassic World VelociCoaster, a new species of roller coaster coming Summer 2021.
Disney World
Meanwhile, Disney World is planning a new thrill ride of their own for 2021. Disney’s Magic Kingdom is getting TRON Lightcycle Run next year. The ride is a roller coaster adventure through a semi-enclosed structure in Tomorrowland.
The ride draws its inspiration from the lightcycle vehicles shown in the TRON movies. It’s akin to a futuristic motorcycle thrill ride in a brightly lit video game environment. The ride receives fantastic reviews and critical acclaim at Shanghai Disneyland. The Magic Kingdom version will debut in 2021 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. Many Disney fans are eager to see the new TRON ride at Magic Kingdom when it opens up next year!
