New Adventure Awaits: Islands of Adventure Trading Company Gets a Nautical Makeover!
There’s a new twist in the tale over at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure Trading Company — and it’s making waves with explorers young and old!
Several brand-new props have surfaced inside the exploration-themed store, and trust us, they’re pure buried treasure for fans of Universal’s storytelling magic. The centerpiece? A larger-than-life barrel with an octopus dramatically bursting out, its twisting tentacles snatching up lanterns — and even gripping the barrel’s lid! Look closely and you’ll spot a mischievous eye peeking out from a hole near the base, darting around to “spy” on shoppers before retreating into the depths.

Surrounding this sea-worthy scene are giant chests, lush greenery, maps, a globe, a telescope, and even a tongue-in-cheek copy of “How to Abandon Ship”. (Good advice if that octopus gets any rowdier!) There’s also a copy of the Islands of Adventure Preview Guide, a fun nod to the park’s early days.
But Universal didn’t stop there — keen-eyed fans will spot even deeper lore connections! One crate features a rustic “Undeliverable Manifest of Supplies,” originally meant for the Global Discovery Group at the Poseidon’s Temple Dig Site — a clever throwback to the retired Poseidon’s Fury attraction in Lost Continent. Names like Professor Baxter (who famously vanished) and Taylor (the attraction’s adventurous guide) appear on the manifest, alongside hilarious cargo notes like 30 megaphones (“ran out, kept losing”) and 64 team bandanas (because, fashion). Fun fact: the dates listed match the original and revamped opening years for Poseidon’s Fury!
And if you’re still thirsting for adventure, make sure to check out the truck stationed nearby — it’s the ride vehicle from Skull Island: Reign of Kong, sporting the Eighth Wonder Expedition Company’s rugged look. Talk about a full-circle moment for fans of Universal’s greatest expeditions!
