New Paint Added to Old Streets of America Building Facades

Many of us have experienced moments of nostalgia as we witnessed the disappearance of the former Streets of America Building Facades.  We have been wondering when, or if, the remaining structures may be removed.  We are thrilled to announce that we noticed new paint has been added to the old Streets of America Building Facades.

But what does this mean?  To give a comparison, this is what the buildings looked like in September 2016………..

and here is what they look like now on July 1, 2017.

While we do not know what these buildings will represent, we are excited to see that these structures are likely to remain in some capacity.  Otherwise, why bother to update the exterior of the facades with fresh paint?  The Drug Store sign appears to be covered, but intact.  The Streets of America have disappeared; leaving a shell to be rebuilt, recreated and reimagined.   These new lands are yet to be seen, but exist in the minds and visions of the Disney Imagineers.

The old Drug Store facade has us particularly intrigued.  The area is now covered and appears to have scaffolding set up between that facade and the former Writer’s Stop building that is connected to the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater.

Back on May 6, 2017 we had noticed an odd tube of some sort extending between the two structures.  We wondered what in the world that could represent and now we see that the entire area is covered behind large construction tarps so we will have to wait and see. The first picture above gives a really good comparison of how the new paint has transformed the old Drug Store Building Facade.

We look forward to watching the progress, albeit from the other side of the construction walls, of Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land.  If you have not had the opportunity to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios in recent months, then you will be amazed at the changes brought about by all the construction for these amazing new lands.  At this time, we are happy to see that there may be some remnants of the former Streets of America left behind.    For those of us who walked those Streets countless times, who built fond memories by witnessing the most amazing Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights, who danced along with Mulch, Sweat and Shears, who explored Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set, and who truly miss all that the Streets of America represented we are hopeful that these pieces shall remain and forever represent all that was.  The new paint, added to the old existing Streets of America Building Facades, looks new and fresh.  Amazing what a bit of a paint can do to an old building!

What do you think of the new paint on the old Streets of America Building Facades?
