New Business Permits Filed for Disney’s BoardWalk Area
Recent filings with the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District indicate that new life is coming to Disney’s BoardWalk, as two long-vacant storefronts appear set for occupancy. These official documents suggest that the months of quiet for these prime retail spaces are finally coming to an end.

While specific details remain under wraps, recent filings have provided some intriguing clues. One project, currently codenamed “Project Amazon,” is slated for the space previously occupied by Big River Grille & Brewing Works. This waterfront location has been vacant since the brewery closed its doors in January 2024, though construction crews were spotted on-site just a few months ago.
The official documents remain somewhat mysterious, but they do reveal that the upcoming venue will encompass nearly 2,500 square feet. Since the location was originally designed for full-service dining, it’s a strong possibility that another restaurant will be moving in to take advantage of the existing infrastructure.
Just around the corner, “Project Bubbles” is slated for the location where the Promenade Fine Art Gallery welcomed guests until late 2025. Much like its counterpart, specific details for this nearly 2,300-square-foot space remain a mystery, though its retail history has fans speculating on everything from a themed boutique to a high-end lounge.
Meanwhile, the former home of Jellyrolls is undergoing a massive architectural overhaul. Recent activity at the site shows the building being gutted to its skeleton, fueling intense rumors that a sophisticated new concept—possibly a jazz club or a premier social lounge—will eventually anchor this end of the promenade.
