‘Mulan’ Surpasses ‘Hamilton’ In Views Over Premiere Weekend on Disney+. Recently, Disney made the historical decisions to premiere the live-action Mulan remake in a Video on Demand (VOD) format exclusively on Disney+ with an all-new feature called Premier Access. Disney+ Premier Access gave access to the film for Disney+ subscribers and the added fee has not hindered the film from performing well on the streaming platform.
According to streaming guide Reelgood, Disney’s Mulan made up for 15% of all titles streamed from several streaming services including Disney+, AppleTV+, FandangoNOW, Spectrum, GooglePlay, and Netflix, over the course of its premiere weekend on exclusively on Disney+. For comparison, the highly anticipated musical phenomenon Hamilton only accounted for 9.68% during its premiere weekend on Disney+!
Disney’s Mulan currently sits at a Rotten Tomatoes score of 75%, making it a certified fresh film and one of the highest rated Disney live-action films to date. The film has earned approximately $39.4 Million at the global box office, but has yet to premiere in several key countries around the world, making it difficult to say how the film will compare throughout its premiere compared to a traditional theatrically released film.
