Disney’s Live-Action ‘Mulan‘ Receives Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The ratings are in and Disney’s live-action Mulan has been certified fresh by the reputable film critique site, Rotten Tomatoes! At the time of writing, Mulan has received a fresh rating of 82% based on over 150+ reviews from critics, making it one of the highest rated Disney live-action remakes to date. The official score is likely to fluctuate a bit as more reviews pile in, but it seems the film is being well received by audiences well within the first 24-hours of its premiere.
“When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country from Northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the eldest daughter of an honored warrior, steps in to take the place of her ailing father. Masquerading as a man, Hua Jun, she is tested every step of the way and must harness her inner-strength and embrace her true potential. It is an epic journey that will transform her into an honored warrior and earn her the respect of a grateful nation… and a proud father.”
The live-action film was originally slated to release in theaters March 27th, but was delayed 3 times by Disney due to the pandemic, leading the company to choose releasing the film digitally. Many fans have been urging Disney to release the film digitally, some as early as the first cancelation and/or after the very early releases of both Disney-Pixar’s Onward and Disney’s Frozen II on Disney+.
Mulan stars Yifei Liu (Mulan), Jet Li (Emperor), Donnie Yen (Commander Tung), Gong Li (Xianniang), Yoson An (Honghui), and Jason Scott Lee (Böri Khan). The live-action ‘Mulan‘ is now streaming via Disney+ Premier Access (additional $29.99 USD per subscription), and will be available to all Disney+ subscribers this December. Both the animated Mulan and Mulan II are currently available to stream exclusively on Disney+.
