MouseTrips Has Arrived!

MouseTrips has arrived! Who doesn’t love planning a Disney trip? Have you been looking for a way to conveniently save all of your Disney plans in one location on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch? The answer is finally here! For total planning enjoyment, check out the MouseTrips application! The following is a review and description of how to navigate the main sections of the MouseTrips application developed by Enigma Multimedia, LLC based on setting up my next Disney vacation plans in the app. MouseTrips application is available for download through the Apple App Store and costs $2.99. MouseTrips also has a website at www.mousetripsapp.com with a YouTube video.

When you download and initially open the MouseTrips application, you see the Home screen with 3 options to choose: My Trips, Important Info, and Add Trips. You will want to select either Important Info or Add Trips first. When selecting Important Info, you will see options to add a picture from your library by touching the Plus (+) sign in the upper right corner. You can choose to add a picture of your PhotoPass card, Annual Pass, Tables in Wonderland, and Other. Why add a picture of your cards? In case you lose one of them, you will still have a picture to show to Guest Services to help get you operational again quickly. In the Other category, you can add items such as your Key To The World Card, Park Tickets, etc. With the upcoming MagicBands, time will tell how often you may use this feature, but I still think it is a pretty cool option.

When selecting Add Trip, you are adding the overall all location of your trip such as Walt Disney World. You select your Destination from a drop down list, fill in your arrival and departure date, add a free text description or other information. The main address of your destination will be listed at the bottom. You can touch on the address and it links to the maps on your device. How great is that? Once you touch Add Plans, it will tell you your trip is saved and touch the okay button. You can then pick dining, entertainment, flights, ground or hotels to add in your reservations information. It can take a little time to scroll through the date options when adding a plan if your reservation is very far out because you have to go through each day of the month and then each month. Also, don’t forget the save button – it is in the top right corner. For ease of use, there are Home buttons at various points in the application to navigate to the Home screen quickly rather than hitting the Back button several times.

If you need to make a change to your plans or add in a new reservation, simply choose My Trips from the Home screen. Select the trip you added from the above steps and another screen comes up where you touch the Plus (+) sign in the upper right corner. On the next screen when you touch on Add Plans at the bottom of the screen, you can then pick dining, entertainment, flights, ground or hotels to add in your reservations information or select an already entered option to modify and then save. If you want to delete a plan, just swipe towards the left over the arrow when you are in the reservation you entered and a delete button will appear for selection.

Finally, touch the green button with 3 gears in it located at the bottom left of the screen which leads you to Settings. In Settings, you can set a countdown for 3 options – dining, DVC, and your trip, select a new background, and sync your plans to your calendar. Under sync your plans, you will see options to sync dining, entertainment, flights, ground, and hotel. If you have not already entered plans in the steps above, it will tell you that there is nothing to sync. Under count downs, the DVC countdown will list your 11 month (home resort) and 7 month (non-home resort) booking windows. The trip countdown is the actual number of days until the start of your trip. The number of days remaining also shows on the MouseTrips icon. The dining countdown is for Disney World and tells you when you can make dining reservations based on today’s date and then calculates 180 days out. For example, if the date is July 20, 2013, the dining countdown states that I can make a dining reservation for trips starting on January 16, 2014 (180 days from today). All set countdowns will appear on your home page.

Overall, the app was pretty easy to navigate and mostly intuitive. You can obviously do some of the steps described above in a different order, that was just how I went through and set up my upcoming trip on my iPhone. After using this app, you won’t need to write down your itinerary and worry about forgetting or losing it because it will be right with you on your device. The MouseTrips application brings all of your planning information together in one place for the ultimate way to save all of your Disney trip information.  If you are a Disney Addict, the app will surely be put to good use especially since you can load multiple trips. Have you used this app? What do you think of it?
