More ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid‘ Animated Projects are “In the Works” for Disney+. While on his book tour, Author Jeff Kinney shared that more Diary of a Wimpy Kid animated adaptions are on the way to Disney+! Kinney shared with attendees:
“We’re starting things up again with Disney Plus. …It’s pretty cool to see Greg in that animated 3-D kind of world, so that’s what we’re going to be doing for a while. I don’t think we’re going to be going back to the live-action soon.”

Currently, the first book in Jeff Kinney’s worldwide bestselling series is coming to Disney+ in the all-new animated adventure “Diary of a Wimpy Kid.” It is currently unknown if Jeff is hinting at more Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies or if the movie will introduce a new animated series to the hit streaming service.
Greg Heffley is a scrawny but ambitious kid with an active imagination and big plans to be rich and famous – he just has to survive middle school first. To make matters worse, Greg’s lovable best friend Rowley seems to coast through life and succeed at everything without even trying! As details of his hilarious – and often disastrous – attempts to fit in fill the pages of his journal, Greg learns to appreciate true friends and the satisfaction that comes from standing up for what is right.
