Exclusive Look at Pixar’s “Hoppers” Reveals Robot Beave and Star-Studded Cast
After a year of relative quiet since its initial announcement, Pixar’s original film “Hoppers” burst back into the spotlight at the Annecy Animation Festival today. Pixar Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter offered an exclusive first look at the movie, written and directed by Daniel Chong and produced by Nicole Paradis Grindle, to an eager audience.

Docter presented the very first footage from “Hoppers,” though the clips have not yet been released publicly. The film, previously described as following a girl whose brain is transferred into a robot beaver, received further clarity through a shared image from Pixar. This image appears to showcase both the girl’s new robot beaver form and another beaver character, voiced by the comedic talent of Bobby Moynihan.
Adding to the intriguing cast, Jon Hamm has been confirmed to lend his voice to an “anti-animal mayor,” hinting at a potential conflict within the film’s narrative.

“Hoppers” has been a subject of quiet speculation, particularly after a former Pixar artist reported last year that the film’s team was instructed to downplay its environmental message. Whether this directive has impacted the final vision remains to be seen, but the central premise involving a girl’s consciousness in a beaver’s body certainly leaves room for ecologically conscious themes.
With its unique concept and a burgeoning voice cast, “Hoppers” is shaping up to be a highly anticipated addition to Pixar’s slate. The film is currently slated for release on March 6, 2026. More details and, hopefully, the public release of footage are expected as the release date approaches.
