Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat and New Character Walk of Fame Arrive at Hollywood Studios

It was a massive overnight for the construction crew at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As the sun rose this morning, guests were greeted by the sight of Mickey Mouse’s iconic blue Sorcerer Hat officially installed atop its new home in Animation Courtyard.

A New Studio Landmark

The hat, which is inspired by the real-life Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, California, serves as the grand marquee for the upcoming attraction, The Magic of Disney Animation. While the main attraction itself is scheduled to open in late summer 2026, the hat is the visual anchor for the entire courtyard’s new look as a working “Studio Lot.”

Making Their Mark in History

Just below the new landmark, Disney has begun installing a brand-new “Walk of Fame” that brings a touch of old Hollywood glamour to the area. In a series of new social media teasers, Disney showed beloved characters visiting the site to sign their names and press their handprints, footprints, and even paw prints into wet cement.

These concrete stones—featuring signatures from characters like Cinderella, Simba, Mulan, and Maui—will line the entrance to the building. It’s a permanent tribute to the stars of Disney animation and a perfect photo opportunity for guests when they enter the reimagined space.

Opening Soon

While we still have a bit of a wait for the full indoor animation experience, the outdoor portion of the project is almost finished. The newly reimagined Walt Disney Studios Lot courtyard, along with the new Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show, is officially set to open to guests on May 26, 2026.

This first phase of the reopening will allow guests to walk under the new Sorcerer Hat and explore the character signatures for the first time, with the rest of the animation galleries and interactive spots following later this summer.
