Disney’s upcoming movie is based on the 1987 true story, of the cross country team of novice runners from “McFarland, USA,” an economically challenged town in California’s farm-rich Central Valley. Under the direction of Coach Jim White (Kevin Costner), the predominantly Latino students who make up the team learn not just about running but also about the power of family relationships, their unwavering commitment to one another and their incredible work ethic. Full of determination and spirit, the cross-country team and Coach White achieve their own kind of American dream.
