Marvel Studios Kevin Feige Says ‘Eternals’ is “Just the Start” of LGBTQ+ Representation in the MCU. The cast and crew of Marvel Studios’ Eternals attended the World Premiere Event in Hollywood, CA on Monday, October 18th and the film has been met with high praise from press outlets around the world. One of the aspects that has press buzzing is the introduction of the first openly gay superhero with a family in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When asked by Variety about the inclusion and what this means for the future of the MCU Feige shared with the outlet: There have been gay heroes before in the comics. It is more than past time in the movies. It’s just the start.” Variety has since shared a video of the quick interview via Twitter.

The outstanding ensemble cast includes Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as cosmic-powered Kingo, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-soul Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Barry Keoghan as aloof loner Druig, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, with Salma Hayek as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena. 

Chloé Zhao directs the film, and Kevin Feige and Nate Moore are the producers, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and Kevin de la Noy serving as executive producers. The screen story is by Ryan Firpo & Kaz Firpo, and the screenplay is by Chloé Zhao and Chloé Zhao & Patrick Burleigh and Ryan Firpo & Kaz Firpo.
