Loki is returning to our screens, as Tom Hiddleston is set to reprise his role as the God of Mischief in a new Marvel TV series based on Loki according to the BBC.
Whilst it is still unsure as to where in the Marvel timeline this new series will fit into, particularly due to the character’s fate in Avengers: Infinity War!
The new show will be released on Disney’s brand new streaming service called Disney +.
Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger also announced that Lucasfilm will be developing a second Star Wars live-action series for the new service. The series will follow the adventures of rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion and set prior to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Diego Luna, who played Cassian Andor said “Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me” and that “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey.”. When reflecting on the new tv series he said, “We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply”.
When news originally emerged about Disney’s plans to launch a number of series about the Marvel characters, many believed there would be a show focusing on Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, however, there has been no update so far. Alternatively, Disney did announce that we can expect to see new stories set in the world of Pixar’s Monsters Inc as well as High School Musical!
Disney + is set to launch in the US, late 2019!
