Necessity may be the mother of invention, but so is money. In the wake of the huge box-office hit that is “The Avengers,” Marvel Comics’ TV division is reportedly in talks withABC over a series set in the world ofthe Avengers. What exactly that means is unclear. Anything using the special effects required for characters like Thor, Iron Man, and the like might prove prohibitively expensive. Deadline says:
“… the connection to the Avengers franchise would be light as the project is expected to be set in the universe and feature some of its themes and feel, but may not include any characters from Joss Whedon’s blockbuster.”
The series could, perhaps, focus on S.H.I.E.L.D., which would reduce the special effects – and expense – to a manageable level, depending on how it was approached. Currently the talks are in the very early stages.
Marvel continues to make moves to increase its television ootprint. Slightly more than a week ago, director Guillermo del Toro confirmed that a possible “Hulk” series is still on.
Meanwhile, the Avengers continue to assemble in animated form on Disney XD, in “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.” That series will transition to “Avengers Assemble” in 2013, according to statements made by Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel TV, at the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con.
It’s unclear if this includes a reboot or continuity from the end of the current series. “Avengers Assemble” is said to be darker than the current series.

This might be interesting but if it doesn’t have enough Avenger feel to it then it won’t work, in my opinion.
